Castlerock Caravan Park is for me a haven of happy memories from childhood, playing in the kids area; pushing each other on the swings, clambering all over the frame, playing in the basketball court. Those were the good days! My family and I spent many a happy Autumn, Spring, Summer and occasional Winter in our caravan here. I don't think there were many Bank Holidays we didn't take the hour long trip up the coast to our favourite campsite. It has a beautiful beach only five minutes from the site, you can catch the train to Coleraine or to Derry from lovely wee platform (yes it is lovely, it's very well kept and has flowers blooming constantly) or you could nip round the corner to The Golf Hotel (which sadly is no more) or in to the quaint basement bar of Bertha's (owned by Lord Bob himself! The local entrepreneur businessman everyone jokingly called him this!) There was so much to do, so many places to go. It's a great site for a caravan park which is quietly popular yet not tourist infested. There's all the basic facilities you would expect; clean toilets, water supply, hard standing, electric, local chippy/Chinese. Set in a beautiful location yet sadly I've heard the area is less popular after The Golf Hotel closed. I hope business picks up again and kids these days can enjoy the same brilliant fun I did growing up. read more
