It was a wet, damp, and windy weekend and there were very few people on the site. It was late on Friday evening when we arrived and were welcomed by the owner who kindly placed us just beside all the site facilities. Our purpose in going to Donegal was to attend a singing festival weekend in nearby Ballyliffin. On Sat morning, the site displayed its beautiful stunning surroundings. If you like to walk, cycle, climb hills, view beaches, then this is a site you cannot miss. The friendly owner will give a total overview of the area, detailing walks, festivals, history, restaurants and anything else you will want to know. He sat with us for half an hour just to impart tourist information that he thought we might benefit from. The site facilities were very clean and tidy with free electric showers, soap and hand wash in the bathrooms. The owner had also left a supply of books available for anyone to read during their stay. Nice thought. But he really came into his own when it was time for us to go home and we found that our car electrics had a fault and would not work our caravan lights, indicators etc. When he saw us with trouble, he took his own jeep to test our caravan lights and identified that our car was the difficulty. As it was Sunday, it was not possible to repair and we had to return home for work the next day. The owner took our caravan on his jeep, parked it at his own house and we went home, repaired our car and collected the caravan some days later. All our worries were eradicated by the owners kindness. When I collected my caravan, i tried to financially reward his for his kindness but he totally refused to accept anything and said, "maybe you will come back again sometime". I sure will. I cant say enough about my stay there. These are the ones that you will remember. Keep it up Binion Bay, a gem of a weekend probably made better by kindness of the site owner.

I talked my fiancé into trying a night in Cushendall Glamping Pods..... A feat in itself given he…read morehates camping whereas I love it so I thought this would be a good middle ground. We checked into the Gigha pod and were pleasantly surprised to realise we were quite private as no one really had cause to wander around our pod for a nosey at these hobbit like homes. It was the furthest from the toilets mind you. The pods are specious, warm, comfy and have enough to get by with a fridge, kettle, heater, and picnic table with bbq metal square. I turned the table around and slid it against the back bench to make a double bed -2mattresses each, a fitted sheet duvet and pillows and voila, couldn't be further from camping. I was completely taken and surprisingly so was my fiancé. After checking out the next day we decided to hell with it and grabbed a last min availability in another pod for the night. This time in Aaron beside toilets showers and bins. Handy not to have to walk as far but you attract a lot of attention from curious people who want to see what they are like. We are already planning our next visit

Call me anti social, but when I want atfew days by the coast, I don't want to spend it on a caravan…read moresite, sorry, holiday village, with 600 caravans. Yes, there really are some sites which are that huge. Not for me. Mill Road Village is small but perfectly formed, Just like me. I wish. Sorry, focus. Mill Road has only about 45 static caravans and about 10 sites for touring caravans which means that there are other people about if you want to be sociable but not crowds of kids or teenagers. We spent 2 weeks there in August and the kids loved the park and the freedom of being able to cycle round the site by themselves. The park isn't huge but there's plenty to occupy toddlers to pre teens for about half an hour at a time. There is an onsite laundry room and a shower/toilet block. As I was on holiday, I tried to avoid the laundry room but I did look in once and it was well equipped with big American style washers and driers. We also had a good look around the couple of brand spanking new caravans which were for sale. Who needs a new car or kitchen? I think we're converted to caravanning.

After setting up our site the management team came down and welcomed us with some info about the park and said they would collect the fees the next morning. We then took a walk about to see the facilities. The grounds and facilities are both exceptional! This is a very well maintained park..everything is very well kept and it has laundry, playgrounds, rec room, limited kitchen, showers and even music that plays in the restrooms. This is very convenient to town, Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, Giant's Causeway and Bushmills Distillery. I highly recommend staying here! They even chased my tent down until I returned. It apparently liked the grounds so much that it had to take its own tour!

My parents had a static caravan at sandycove for a couple of years and it was fantastic for…read moreweekends without having to travel far, there's views over the beach and sea as its a case of hopping out the door of your caravan and straight onto the beach. There's a playpark and facilities for mobile caravans, washrooms and a tennis court and a small shop in the caravan sales park beside it. The beach is just the same as millisle beach but more peaceful with being outside millisle itself. The caravan park is quite big and there's usually always room for the touring caravans.
