Most hotels offer shower only rooms after remodeling. Breakfast in the hotel was amazing; included fresh fruits and juices, the traditional Irish entrees or you could opt for pancakes. Every meal includes potatoes; good potatoes. Something special about this hotel is the lavender balm. I meant to request more before I left. The bed was surprisingly comfortable despite it being old. Decor was dated but I like the fact that you can crack the window open to let in fresh air to chase away the stale smell of the carpet. However, the entertainment more than made up for it. The band were excellent giving us renditions of all the cheesy performers we know and love complete with change of costumes. I was dying of a hangover and have to take my hats off to the lead singer who belted out the numbers. There is something comforting watching people enjoying themselves, tettering on ridiculously high heels, protecting their dignity as they reefed their mini dresses down over their arses.. Would I recommend it for a Christmas party...... most definately, suits all ages, special offers on rooms for the night and the ballroom has had an overhaul so is now very pretty with fancy schmancy chandeliers and swaggy curtains. I booked myself on the hotels own website. It charges a small fee, like 2 EURO to hold the room. Then they charged the balance when you check out. Irish hotels, esp in season can be very high and I was very very pleased with the rates I got. I booked early. Those that wait to the last moment were paying double what I paid. If you are driving, look for a small sign on a post directing you to the hotel once you exit Hwy 50. There is plenty of free parking out front. My rate included breakfast, which incl a choice of Irish Breakfast, or other items. The hotel is a bit dated, feels like something from the 60's to me, but that doesnt mean its bad at all. There is a bit of a step down out of the tub, so be careful! I had one room the first stay facing the back, which is nothing but an incline. Its nothinig to look at but it is quieter than the front view where you get a bit of street noise. Street noise isnt really bad and there is a view of some housing, etc and you can watch the buses go by. You can get downtown on buses too. Driving in downtown is not recomended, as parking is tight, and most streets are one way. They dont make it easy to get from one place to another as your constantly forced to go one way or another and its often not your choie of ways. So maybe take the bus! I ate in the bar/pub twice and food was ok, Typical Irish fare. Prices were reasonable. For me the location was ideal to start and end an Irish itinerary and for me the prices were great. I would gladly stay again.

We arrived here early afternoon on a Friday for a birthday party and boy did we party over two…read morenights. The hotel was pretty crammed, particularly on the Saturday night, with several birthdays, at least one baby shower party and a wedding. Our room was comfortable, overlooking a garden. The staff we met were kind to us and very helpful throughout our stay and we are a demanding bunch; service was friendly and prompt particularly with the birthday cake delivered two nights running after our main meals. They lit candles, they joined in singing happy birthday (like every other guest around us on both nights) and they even took photos for us on our phones, served up slices of birthday cake and kept the cake refrigerated to keep it good. I can't name every staff member, but if the hotel could bottle the guy who sang in the bar Saturday night, who had the whole place singing, and Julianna the cheery waitress they'd make a fortune from their respective talents. On our first night nine of us dined in the restaurant and we all enjoyed our food & drinks. I stayed vegetarian for evening meals for no good reason that I can think of, and my starter of goat cheese fritters (3) with poached pear & leaves was really superb as was the brown bread and I think the other bread was an onion bread. I had a ravioli main which was ok but I found the ravioli too thick and the filling too thin for my liking. It would be a much better meal if the ratio was reversed with the pumpkin filling properly seasoned and generous with some salt and fresh sage in the filling that would help too. On night two the restaurant was booked out so we all had the bar food and all of the meals were superb. I had a linguine main that was really tasty with delicious Tiger beer on draught - haven't seen that beer on draught for a long time. The breakfast food was very good too and Julianna kept us well - served with tea, coffee, food and precious laughter each morning. I had some minor niggles during my stay. I raised them with the manager and was satisfied with how he courteously handled my pickiness. Hotel check - out was as smooth as check - in and all in all we departed happy and just like our birthday girl, all of us another two days older.

We found it comfortable and family-friendly. The arcade on a few of the floors was a fun touch. There was a bit of confusion about the elevators that lead to the upper floors-but we eventually found our way. The rooms were comfortable and I was so happy to see that the showers had shower curtains (so many other hotels had a half-wall that ended up leaking water on the floor of the bathroom.) Not here. The walls are thin and you can definitely hear your neighbors. But if you luck out and have quiet folks staying nearby, it won't be a problem.
