I am a bit disappointed to be writing this review. Our family believes in supporting small businesses. My husband was a small business owner in the Castle Rock area so it's something we try to do. On this Valentine's Day, my husband was sweet enough to order me a dozen roses which were delivered on Friday looking pretty good. Here we are on day five and they're awful. For the amount of money that was spent on something like this I've been more satisfied with purchases from the local grocery store over what I received this year. Just completely disappointed with the experience. We expect to pay a little bit more at a small business or even on a special day... the quality of what we received based on what we spent is certainly not evident. I called today to place order for Valentines, for my wife. I have been loyal customer to Castle Rock Florist over time. In fact they have been my only "go to".... Today however they would not deliver to my address. When I tried to explain my address is basically same or possibly closer to them for places they have delivered for me in the past. (I have Elbert address but I'm in Douglas county. Her reply was I understand but basically it's not convenient for us. I took it as we don't want to take chance of not maximizing our profit. I tried a couple times to assure her of distance but she just had no interest. I said ok with a heavy disappointment as I don't want to disappoint my wife & because a unfortunate realization that Castle Rock Florist is not loyal to their customers. I ordered them to be picked up on a date we were supposed to get a snowstorm and they called to accommodate to get the flowers to me sooner, so I wouldn't have to drive in the snow. Very disappointed in the service... I know this shop has been around for over 50 years and really expected more. I was picking up an order for a friend since the shop was too busy to deliver. I understand it is the holidays, but we had to make arrangements to pick up the flowers when delivery would have been more convenient. When I went to pick up the flowers the staff seemed annoyed that I was there, and once I had said the name of the person I was picking up for, the mood changed. After posting a one star review for this florist, I received a phone call from the owner of the store. She kindly informed me that "Ava's Flowers" misrepresented her store as a local florist. This was NOT the case! While my order was processed, it was processed by an unknown supplier, not her store. I ordered a large bouquet. The "substituted bouquet" was quite small and the quality of the product was not acceptable. The owner of this family owned florist called me back and explained that Ava's Flowers had ripped me off, not Castle Rock Florist. I need to set the record straight. My original post reads, "Do NOT order flowers from this florist." The correct post should have read, "Do NOT order online from Ava's Flowers." While the flowers were beautiful, the customer service was very very poor. I've never talked to a florist before who was so rude and condescending. I ordered online where the confirmation was supposed to be sent to my email. It never arrived so I called just to confirm. Later on, I received a call to confirm someone would be there for delivery. I asked for a contactless drop off and was met with a snarky remark. They also asked me if I was the recipient of the flowers- something that their order form should be able to tell them. What florist calls the person receiving before hand..? After the conversation ended, I realized they told me the wrong numbers for the address. I called back to confirm the address and was received with even more attitude from the times before. Instead of simply confirming the address for me (I live out of of town and just wanted to support a local business), the employee said yeah well "these numbers don't even exist in the area." What business belittles someone for double checking their own error, all bc of their lack of email confirmation, and overall lack of "customer service". I had been patient during the last two interactions and was just left dumbfounded on the type of business this place is by the 3rd interaction. Will not support again. A dear friend recently sent us flowers after the passing of my husband's brother. Although it was a nice bouquet there was something in it that had an unpleasant fragrance.
