    Rusty door, hinge, and mold

We rented a 2 bedroom place on the bottom floor 7 months in advance because we have 3 disabled people. When we arrived they gave us a room on the second floor. We have confirmation for room 117 . They told us the owner was in there and he gets precedence. We Told them 2nd floor was not what we needed and not going to work for us. they said they could give us 2 single room opposite side of the complex. They would not work with us and said there is no other options . They were very rude about try to work with us . We have no choice but to take the room on the second floor I had to carry my mom up the stairs every day. The room 225 was very out dated beds and couch very uncomfortable, electrical panels, rusty nervous about fire no smoke alarms and will show pictures. second day in the room. Carpenters came and worked on the wall outside, pounding and hammering all day for 4 days. I do not recommend this place. The pictures of rooms online are not what they appear.

Unit 323 was great for our family of 6. The view was amazing, nothing between us and the beach. The unit is well equipped and furnished. Master bed was very comfy and you can lay in bed and see the surf. Cool breezes keep the place cool, since there is no AC. It wasn't a problem. We were in the top floor so we did not hear any neighbors. They had beach chairs, fans and some boogie boards to use. It needs a new dishwasher though.

    Corroded door hinge

If I can give this place a negative 5 I would. I made reservations for my parents to come visit for Christmas Dec 20-25th. This was for a 2 bedroom oceanfront unit #122. The rate was $474 per night excluding tax and cleanup fee etc. while the view was gorgeous the unit was so run down! I understand corrosion as I lived in Kauai. But when door hinges are so corroded that you can't even close the doors did privacy, I have a problem with that . The oven door, refrigerator door was corroded. Paint was peeling off the walls. Bathroom and hall light fixtures our is 12, 3 were only working. Our bedroom lamps were corroded with cobwebs in them . The dishes, glasses and some of the cookware had a film of dust so we had to wash all of them. I had a holiday party planned and asked the GM Wally Nishimura to fix/replace the hinges and he said, "we can't do any Major renovations when there are guests."I have a one bedroom condo at the Pono Kai and they do repairs all the time. When asked I can have some sort of an adjustment as this was not a $474 per night unit he said that they delivered a 2 bedroom clean oceanfront room and offered to return our money back knowing full well everything is booked as it is Christmas week. The excuse was that they only have one maintenance person and all they can do was lube up the hinges. The hall bathroom shower was not working properly that my elderly father couldn't turn it on.

    Moldy lampshades and rust corrosion

Adding a star because they let us leave without hassle, but there is no air conditioning in the entire place is corroding with rust and mildew. The carpet is wet with mildew. There are roosters screaming all night (not just at dawn). The windows are paper thin and the curtains don't properly close or cover the windows so there's nothing to block out the sound of traffic noise and crowing birds. I wish somebody had written this review before me so I would not have made the mistake of staying here.

2019 Spring break for the kids here was spectacular. The staff was friendly, helpful and they made you feel right at home. It was our 4th time here but our 1st time staying at Kaha Lani, it was by far the best place we've stayed, not to take anything from Princeville were we usually stay. It's just the perfect place for my wife and I and our 2 little ones, the beach is a short beautiful walk from our place. Lydgate park, perfect for snorkeling for our 5 and 7 year old, the pool and BBQ area was great, kids met several new friends each time they went out to swim. Just a perfect atmosphere for our family. But a special thanks to James our favorite Security guard on the island of Kauai, such a great human being. Thank you everyone at Castle Kaha Lani, we will see you next year...Spring Break 2020..kids are already planning it.!

    Amazing view.

We loved this place. I have heard complaints on some units. Many are individually owned by people, so some units are better than others. We stayed a week in 310 and whoever owns this unit takes care of it! Definitely requesting this unit again if we come. All amenities, beautiful decore, up to date... the couch bed is a challenge putting away but that's it.

This was my first time staying at condominium resort (We stayed in 323 by far the BEST). I'm very glad that I chose this place than other nearby hotels. Check-in and Check-out is a breeze. On top of the amazing ocean views it provides. Location is pretty much near everything on the island, especially when you need to get a bite somewhere. You could also cook in your unit, if you wanted. But who would want to do that when you're on vacation. I would like to give a big thanks to staff member April, who made sure everything was to our satisfaction and gave us some good pointers while on the island. THANKS Kaha Lani Resort, I'll be sure to stay there again in the future!

This place doesn't look like much from the first glance, but it was superb! First of all, the staff are fantastic; everyone is friendly and willing to chat with you or help with whatever's needed. Our room was great too... 2 bedroom (the third bedroom wasn't open since we didn't need it), 2 lanais facing the ocean, a very nice kitchen with EVERY possible tool you'd want to cook with! I can't say that every unit will be like that, but ours was fully stocked. Even had games if the rain got to bothering you. The pool is medium size (more of a "fun" pool, not for exercising) but it was beautiful and quite warm. My only qualm about this place is that there isn't a fitness facility. I still gave it 5 stars because other than that, we had a great experience here. Definitely would go back here without a doubt!

Staying in this area puts you mid island with access to great beaches, but, know you are still driving every day a min of 30 minutes to get to a more desirable beach if you're looking for calmer water and the ability to snorkel. The room was fantastic and slept my family of 5 well. Well stocked for cooking. My biggest complaint was the "Mountain View" is more like a parking lot and grocery store view. The lobby hours are limited, like 9am-7pm which is ok but not if you run into an issue past 7pm (which we did) The front desk staff is lovely and welcoming no complaints with them at all, they are doing their best with what they have. The room was ok it was clean but dated you can tell they havent updated things in a long time. The lamp covers are dusty and the sofa in the room has lost its shape. Our room upon entering was soo hot! We turned on the ac and headed to the pool. When we got back to the room it was even hotter like a sauna the front desk sent a guy to fix it but it didnt work so they were able to move us to a different room. The new room was exactly the same but with working ac. Thankfully our friends were at the Royal Sonesta so we would spend our days over there but upon arriving back to our room on day 3 we were greeted by a puddle of water at the entrance coming from the water heater/ac closet. The front desk was closed and we're checking out the next day so we just threw towels at the puddle and were happy to be leaving the next day. All night it kept leaking we used up all the towels available. I'm sure this resort was great at one time but now its dated, sad and lonely the pool water is murky and the surrounding area is covered in chicken poop. The whole resort could use a refresh. The onsight restaurant was closed during our whole stay, it's good the resort is across the street from Safeway and lots of restaurants. I would not return!

We arrived early in the day so we're not able to get into our room but the staff held our luggage and recommended a few places to eat and watch football. Once able to get into our room which was on the 3rd floor looking over the pool area but far enough away from the noise. The room was quite large with a great kitchen area with granite counter tops and nice appliances. Also a large bathroom with tub and separate shower area as well as two toilets. It was a one bedroom. There was a small lanai off the bedroom and you could open the sliding door from the living room. There was also a washer/dryer in the room. The view from the room looked over the whole pool area which has a winding pool that you can walk around over to the main pool. They also had gas grills to use and many people did. One note is if you open the sliding door in the living room area and don't match up the line in the top of the doors, the air conditioning doesn't go on. We thought the air conditioning quit. After calling the front office someone came within an hour. Told us about the line. We also had an issue with the washer and after a call to the front desk a maintenance person was there within an hour. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and very helpful. Giving us recommendations for a place for fresh fish to grill. There is also a small restaurant which we tried a few nights for some drinks and appetizers. The views of the ocean are great. There are also chairs to sit on the beach area and enjoy the water. The beach is not large but very clean and nice to relax at. Unlike the other Sheraton, their parking situation is much better as the lot is huge and will never fill up. The oceanfront suite is very large but full of issues: - AC unit is insufficient even on colder / cloudier days and extremely loud - To make things worse, the AC filters are filthy and looked like they haven't been changed in years (which is probably true) - The room has no carpets and the floor looks just ugly and cold (although it's not actually cold because the AC is garbage) - The shower has the most idiotic design where someone turned a great idea into a flooding situation and every time you use the shower the whole bathroom fills up with water To top it all, there are no decent restaurants on the property and pretty much all the food you can buy onsite is overpriced food court stuff. If you're on the island of Kauai and must choose one of the 2 Sheratons, definitely go with the one in Poipu.

We had a garden-facing room on the third floor that still offered a decent ocean view. The room was a bit dated, but I loved having a little kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, and sink. Plus, the DVD rental in the lobby was a nice touch since every room has a DVD player. There were a few surprises, like no elevator, so lugging our bags up three flights was a workout. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but we got two free drink tickets for the Tiki Bar, which made the wait more enjoyable. However, the Wi-Fi in our room was spotty, and there wasn't much help available. Luckily, I managed to hop onto the neighbor's Wi-Fi to stream Netflix, though the local TV never worked, which was a bit of a bummer. The early morning rooster calls were definitely new for me, but I came to appreciate them as part of the island charm. Parking was tricky if we got back late, but on the bright side, the location was fantastic. We could walk to the Coconut Marketplace, and the vouchers and coupons we received were a nice perk. Overall, despite some hiccups, the beautiful island setting and friendly service made my stay memorable.

High floor with a perfect view of the bay. Open layout with a large bathroom and huge walk in closet area. Service: Was overall really impressed . Wife had an allergic reaction to something one evening. We called the front desk who unlocked the on site shop to get her allergy medication after the shop had closed for the night. All of our servers at the restaurants were very friendly, pleasant, and warm. Housekeeping was slow and did not make up our room during the few hours we were out from morning to early afternoon, but we called the service team and it was made by the time we got back from dinner. Fitness center was spacious and had plenty of equipment/machines - never felt crowded despite being busy. Restaurant food: The breakfast buffet and dinner meal we had were very good. The buffet in particular was great - so many dishes, omelet station, delicious Hawaiian coffee, etc. Main complaint is that the hotel felt quite packed (including the pool and beach area). We went during peak season so I guess this is to be expected. Tough to avoid though given this will always be a popular destination for non hotel guests as well. It's expensive for what it is, especially compared to international resort destinations at the same price level (a function of proximity to CA I guess) but overall was a worthwhile stay. 5 stars for the views and service t(hat went above and beyond).

Who knows. I was a child, and a guy who lived down the street that my mom made me call "Uncle" told me it was. I've trusted that man with absolutely zero credentials for over 30 years. Well, I finally made it to Kauai, and let me tell you... it is absolutely gorgeous. Lush. Green. Rainy. And now I also look like Newman from Seinfeld. The circle of life. I spent four nights at 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay, and it was... nice. Let me start with the good. My room was beautiful, the views were incredible, and the grounds are spectacular. Tropical plants everywhere, waterfalls pouring down the mountains, and postcard views in every direction. Now... the not-so-great. The food was aggressively mediocre. By day three I was fantasizing about a microwave burrito like it was a Michelin starred meal. I would've fought someone for a Cup-O-Noodles. I think it's called 1 Hotel because it's the one hotel around, and they know you've got nowhere else to eat. Unfortunately, all three restaurants seemed to have the exact same menu. Room service, The Sandbox, and the sushi restaurant all blurred together into one very expensive wagyu smashburger. The staff? Honestly, I can barely review them because I hardly interacted with anyone. Nobody bothered me, which some people probably love. The pool is beautiful... but there are nowhere near enough lounge chairs. Every morning it looked like the midwest trophy wives stormed the pool deck at 6:00 a.m. to reserve every chair with towels. If you want to sit within eyesight of the water, you're going to need an alarm clock and the competitive spirit of a suburban mother on vacation. Which brings me to... the kids. Look, if you have kids, that's wonderful. They're just not for me. Splashing. Screaming. Running. Falling. Crying. Parents yelling at their kids. Parents yelling at other people's kids. Kids somehow yelling at adults. It was like spending the afternoon inside a Dave & Buster's that happened to overlook the Pacific Ocean. If you're looking for a quiet couples getaway, I'd probably avoid summer break. There is an adults-only pool, but it's pretty small and mostly occupied by guys taking "business calls" while crushing Michelob Ultras. There's also a tiny beach area that's... ehhhhh. Now the spa? That's where this place shines. The second you walk in, it smells incredible. The kind of smell that immediately convinces your brain you've become a much healthier, more emotionally stable person. I got one of the best massages I've ever had from an amazing therapist who somehow found muscles I didn't even know existed and negotiated a peace treaty with all of them. I walked out feeling completely relaxed, refreshed, and significantly less judgmental about everything else. I'd absolutely go back for another massage, and next time I'd definitely book a facial too. My biggest surprise was the cleanliness... or lack of it. For a luxury resort, it never quite felt polished. Dead flies sat on windowsills around the property. The carpets always looked a little grimy. There was a half-finished iced coffee sitting outside my elevator that stayed there for a day and a half. None of it was a huge deal individually, but after a while you start noticing all the little things. Overall, I had an amazing trip because Kauai itself is one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. Would I go back? Absolutely. Would I stay at 1 Hotel again? Probably not. For what they're charging, I expected luxury. Instead, it felt like I paid luxury prices for a really nice hotel that still needed someone to walk around with a rag and a trash bag. If I'm spending that kind of money again, I'd probably book the Four Seasons.

They have valet parking and parking for guest staying here. It's even great that they have a parking lot just outside the front entrance for the public access to the beach. So I was able to park and walk into the facility without paying anything. They have updated their facility and remodeled a lot of the units. The lobby area was nice and downstairs. I remember from before that all of the food and restaurants are downstairs. The pool area was really clean and that they also had redone some of that surfacing. It wasn't too crowded, which was nice and we walked around all of the different building areas. They have added a lot more units and it was very big compared to long ago. There wasn't any beach access like before I think you had to go around to the other area to enter that area to access the beach. Facility is clean and very nice. It was so much fun to reminisce and go back to the old complex.

It's an open restaurant with no doors and being steps from the beach it should've been breezy, especially New Year's Day. They had fans over head but were not using them. I asked if they could turn them on and the lady said she would and never did. That was horrible. Trapped heat and me do not agree. The other thing is the bathroom. It's in the hotel and when asking where it was, I was told "that way" with a point. I went that way and entered the first doors but those were the hotel rooms. I left and went in the next doors and there they were. There was no sign. The "that way" direction was not helpful besides knowing which way not to walk. I've been to a few luaus and they usually split up the different islands in dance and it's apparent. Here, I was lost. It felt rushed and the story didn't -- well ?what story? Really. It was still a wonderful night. We celebrated my son getting engaged that day. Nothing could've killed our night. There is another one on Kauai that is more authentic. I forget which one since it was in 2012 when we went but it was amazing. One thing that was very disappointing was being steps away from the beach yet no viewing of the pig being unearthed. That's a huge part of the luau experience and that was the biggest disappointment. My sister, nephew and (now) daughter-in-law had never been and we were excited for them to see it.
