My son did, and it was really affecting his behavior in school and then eventually at home. I knew that he needed a positive place to release the stress a young 5 year old can feel. Within 3 months I've noticed such a big change in his behavior, he was walking around with a smile and less aggravated to attend school. He is in his 8th month this December and in first grade now and I no longer pick up an angry child from school. He is more confident, self assured and although it has gotten tougher for him he has stuck it through and made some friends he can hopefully build long lasting relationships with. What makes this place great besides the beautiful space and well kept dojo and bathrooms are the Senseis. Both Sensei Luis and Sensei Rahul are amazing with the kids. Disciple, structure and respect will be learned here and they demand it. They are serious and tough on the young ones, pushing them to their full potential. And on the other hand they are very playful and loving and give the kids a break with occasional games when they are deserving. The children really show interest to be here, they are ready in line and excited. I have seen some amazing students that they have molded in this dojo and only hope that Noel will also follow their footsteps. Glad to be apart of the BX Martial Arts family. I tried not to jump to conclusions, and figured I just miss placed some of my items but after they had returned it to me I was very sure one or two of the instructors had taken my items. A lot of hostility and intimidation was present for absolutely no reason. Wasn't sure if I unintentionally stepped on someones toes. It came to the point were I had to choose to forfeit the lessons as not to have to deal with this type of behavior anymore after a recent injury . Signed up for Kyokushin classes in the city and left this nonsense behind. Nothing more then bullies with a belt. Beware.

This is a review of their gym space and not for the whole center. The gym has multiple drawbacks…read morethe most important one being not having multiple machines for strength training. Last summer they changed vendors for the machine and since then they seem to break quite a lot, and the repairs take forever. For example, currently the leg machine has been out of order for three weeks. And the cable machine is broken every week. So during busy times I end up wasting 15 to 30 minutes waiting for equipment. In the summertime it can get very stuffy inside because they don't have adequate airflow or fans. I have made multiple suggestions in their suggestion box, but as of now seen no results. I am hoping they will be moved to action after reading this review. I give them one more month and after that, I'm switching to somewhere else.

The swimming pool is very large and has plenty of lifeguards however the locker room/bathroom situations is quite a big problem mainly in the showers since there is little to no hot water some of the time also there are broken movable shower heads in both family locker rooms and the floor itself looks festered with disease it left a bad taste in my mouth. Besides that issue the community center has good heating and air conditioning and very friendly staff and good wifi as well.

For starters, the facility is clean and inviting, but the staff and teachers make this place go round. Jade and Tarika are incredible directors. They are always available for a chat - about both good things and concerns - and take the time to get to know each child. They are also extremely vigilant about when a child might be sick, which I appreciate. Additionally, they are responsive via email. I know that if I have a quick question, they are ready, willing and able to help. Lastly, our son loves his teacher, Miss Gia! He has never cried once when we drop him off and a huge smile comes onto his face when we walk into his room! The kids are kept busy (we love the art projects that come home!) and are cared for well. I'm sorry for the length but you have to read this until the end! Weight has always been a sensitive topic for me! I've never been that "skinny girl" even though I've played sports and even lifted weights in high school. But last year was it for me. I turned 34 and hit my ultimate high of 203lbs standing at a mere 4'11" inches tall. Needless to say I looked like a meatball. I was borderline liver cirrhosis and I had a ton of other issues that are no longer. I was depressed and knew I had to do something! Slowly but surely I tried and lost a bit of weight but plateaued immediately and became discouraged! One day as I was getting the inspection of my car done at Jerry and Sons on Bronxdale I decided to walk around the block for "cardio" and saw my cousin who I hadn't seen in years working out. I said hi and realized she looked so different. Her body was changing. All of a sudden Thomas steps out and introduces himself! He told me to come to the gym and try it out and he guaranteed that I wouldn't regret it and boy I have to say and I'll put it in bold letter just for him "THOMAS M. YOU WERE RIGHT!" However, I found myself there at 8am, looking in the mirror and wondering how I had gotten there. How had I let my body take over control to the point where I no longer recognized the person looking back at me? The hard work began that very day and I have not looked back since.   While I have encountered a few of the trainers over the past two months, this review is specifically for our personal trainer, Thomas M. (also co-founder and owner of the Studio). He has been a source of strength for me and I will forever be grateful to him for his tough love in the gym but also for his words of encouragement on days that I felt that I could no longer move forward. He constantly stays by our side during our workouts, fixes our form and makes sure we are doing the exercises correctly to limit the chance of injury.   The gym has a plethora of classes and trainers to satisfy anyone no matter what your physical goal. There are personal training opportunities as well as group bootcamp classes. Alongside Thomas, John G. is the other co-founder and owner of the Studio. He is an added layer of support and serves as very needed comedic relief. Another trainer we were introduced to was Ardi N. who covered one of Thomas' sessions. He didn't skip a beat and trained us as if we were his own, regular clients. The degree of care behind keeping a client on schedule speaks to the professionalism and commitment of the Untamed team. Your body and your mind will be pushed to places it has never been before. There are days when you feel damn proud of yourself and there are days when you want to drop your equipment and walk out. However, the one consistent thing is the unwavering support from the trainers at this gym.  It's remarkable what a little squeeze of the shoulder and a simple, "come on, you got this" will do for you.   If you are genuinely ready to change your life, leave your ego at the door and put in hard work, sweat and the occasional tears, this is the place for you.
