Located just southwest of downtown between midtown and broadway, The Gulch is an expansive, but equally quaint part of the city that is classic mixed use of residential and retail. Main reason you may find me in The Gulch is for food. There is a solid variety of eateries from local casual spots to more established dining, sandwich shops and even a few spots for dessert. While that's my reason, most tourists find their way to The Gulch for the famous wing mural next to Biscuit Love. Got to get them wings while in Nashville! Outside of the food and wings, there are lots of local and chain businesses and services in the area including self-care, medical offices and of course clothing boutiques. Additionally, Noble Park is in the middle of The Gulch. It's a really cool urban space that features a good green space, seating, music and a water wall. It is also host to markets and small events throughout the year. Parking is plentiful in The Gulch, buts its all paid. There are garages, lots and street parking. Overall, The Gulch is a cool area of the city that I don't find myself in too often, but when I do, I always enjoy it!

They were raising money for travel expenses to send kids and chaperones to places for charity work. This festival seems to get bigger every year. There were many more arts and crafts booths than the last time I attended. These included pottery, paintings, art, accessories, clothing, and much more. Plenty of fun things for kids. There were inflatable obstacle courses, a climbing wall, and an inflatable slide for kids of all ages. There was also a carnival with rides for everyone. Gourmet food trucks and food stands were present to satisfy your hunger. You could find gyros, asian cuisine, mexican cuisine, and american favorites such as hot dogs, kettle corn and glazed nuts. The best booth at the festival was of course the "Yelp" booth. They had a spinning wheel that you could spin for cool prizes.

Local residents showed up in droves and genuinely valued -- and purchased -- handmade work. I made five to $7000 twenty years ago. Unfortunately, the show has changed significantly. It now draws large crowds, many of whom appear to be bused in from outside the area. While attendance is high, sales are not. The loyal local audience seems to have been pushed out by the increased congestion, and many no longer attend. Equally disappointing is the noticeable decline in handmade goods. Walking the show this year, I spoke with several talented artists who shared that they struggled to cover even their basic expenses and do not plan to return. It's a real shame that the show has declined like it has. It used to be a beautiful show and Franklin is a nice town.

Murfreesboro, Tennessee has been in existence since 1811 and played a part in the war between the states by being the site if a major Civil War engagement that is known as both the Battle of Stone River or the Battle of Murfreesboro. The site of the Battle is now a national park and I would recommend a visit here if you are in Murfreesboro, Tennessee or somewhere around the area. I would definitely recommend visiting this community. While I have only been here on business, when 5:00 hits (or whenever I get done with my work day), I do do the tourist thing and check the community out. Overall, this place has been a community I look forward to visiting.

A large presence of national chains, if that's important to you. Why only 3 stars? Because as a citizen of almost 50 years, I've watched the growth here with initial excitement that has changed to concern and dismay. It's obvious the infrastructure here cannot continue to support the "yes, please!" style of unbridled growth that dominates Murfreesboro. All the wonderful things I cherish about this Middle Tennessee treasure are quickly being obscured by rising taxes, disappearing green space and horrendous traffic that is doing its best to emulate Nashville's.

They also have an Oktoberfest with lots of beer, polka, and kraut which always attracts a crowd. The neighborhood itself has exploded in the last few years so there are wonderful options for places to live there as well. It is the only neighborhood with some stunning views of the capital in addition to the downtown skyline.
