Not to be missed. Stop by the Ecovillage Arts and Culture Center. Check out the cob, strawbale and round buildings and permaculture gardens

This is a neat hidden gem. I originally went while on a mission for Stonewalls vegetarian Beef jerky. Although they were no longer carrying it, we managed to find some other treats at their store. The community is friendly and nice. I wish there were more communities like this throughout the country. I'd totally live here if it weren't so far away from good paying jobs. I'd definitely retire in a place like this. I love the vibe. read more

While from what I gather from the documentaries and books that it's a little bit different today than 40 years ago, this community is a leading example of what people are potential of achieving if they put their minds to it and break the traditional indoctrinations that we're victim of in today's mainstream society. Really nice people and a beautiful community. Keep it up. read more

This was originally a hippie commune. Now, it is a sustainable farm community. They have all kinds of hippie-like programs inside the compound (such as midwife school, natural/healing shop and a yoga center). There is a field of solar panels, which is pretty cool. Many of the buildings are painted in rainbow colors with peace signs. We didn't take a tour and just drove around (not much to see), maybe if you take the tour it would be more interesting. read more

For those living in Middle Tennessee and those traveling through the region -- the Natchez Trace…read moreParkway is a bucket list destination -- especially for outdoor enthusiasts. You don't even have to leave your vehicle to enjoy the scenery -- but then you would miss hidden gems like Jackson Falls. Located at Mile Post 404.7 the trailhead has adequate parking and directional signage. This is a very steep (900 feet) trail that drops down to the bed of the pool and falls. We've witnessed both robust water levels with beautiful water falls & periods of dryer conditions with just a trickle of falls. Either way it's a good cardiovascular workout and full of gorgeous scenery.
