It has a mix of recording studios, record label offices, radio stations, and music licensing firms. Our bus driver mentioned some and I tried to remember the names of them but here are a few from world-renowned hit machines to hidden gems: BMI (Broadcast Music Inc.) - BMI represents all genres of music ASCAP (American Society of Composers) - Emmylou Harris, Brad Paisley Authors and Publishers - there are too many publishing companies in Nashville to name but these are a few: Randall House, The United Methodist Publishing House, Victory Records, American Songwriter, Mojo Music & Media SESAC (Society of European Stage Authors and Composers) - music licensing NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International) - organization that works to help songwriters from their very first phone call to their first cut, publishing deal, and award Word Music - a Christian faith-based entertainment company representing Francesca Battistelli, for King & Country, Switchfoot, Skillet, Sidewalk Prophets, Chris August, Big Daddy Weave, etc Curb Music - American record label who had many successes including Chet Atkins, Bellamy Brothers, Sammy Davis Jr., Exile, Four Seasons, Gloria Gaynor, Lee Greenwood, Wynonna Judd, The Judds, Tim McGraw, Jo Dee Messina, Roy Orbison, Lou Rawls, Righteous Brothers, LeAnn Rimes, Neil Sedaka, Mel Tillis, Hank Williams Jr... just too many! This place is crazy crowded. Walk to wall watering holes with music playing in nearly every one of them. Park somewhere and walk. We stayed right on Music Row and had a great place to view all the people traffic while having some drinks. Lots of drinking and even watched people puking. It was something else. I personally wouldn't bring my kids here as it gets so wild, but for adults it is an interesting spot with some great people watching. read more

Music Row isn't the honkytonks of the Lower Broadway District. Music Row is this neighborhood where the "Nashville Sound" was recorded and where you'll find the historic RCA Studio B and the Country Music Hall of Fame and such. The big recording studios are located along this simple stretch of road. This marker points out the history. It reads the same on both sides, "The heart of Nashville's music business, Music Row began in 1955, when Owen Bradley opened the Quonset Hut, the first recording studio here. In 1957, Chet Atkins opened RCA's studio at the corner of 17th and Hawkins. Other studios, publishing houses, and record labels including Columbia, Epic, Decca, Warner Bros, Capitol, and Curb followed with offices here. Street names were changed in 1975 to Music Square East and West." I was not disappointed in Nashville's famous Music Row. After being let down by Beale Street and Bourbon Street in other famous musically inclined cities, I didn't expect much from Nashville. Boy, am I happy I was proven wrong! Broadway is the main street for Music Row. There are so many little bars and restaurants, all with live country music day and night! Just walking down the street, you'll hear all sorts of fantastic country acts. I'm talking a great mix of decent musicians doing famous country covers, but also those rare gems that are ridiculous talents singing insanely good original songs. It's free to listen if you stand outside, and most of the honky tonks do not require a minimum purchase of food or drinks. I was in Nashville with my husband who was busy attending a convention, so I spent all five of my days and nights just hanging out down on Music Row by myself. I felt safe and welcomed as a solo female traveler, and I even met plenty of friendly folks. It's amazing how great music brings strangers together. If you love music, don't miss Music Row. If you're a fan of country music, you'll appreciate it on a far deeper level. read more

Wow...no seriously wow... what a fun safe place to enjoy music and life!! After taking in good food and beautiful surroundings make sure you make it down to Music Row. Large number of bars now occupy what old textile buildings. It's about 1% the size of Vegas. It's about 4Xs bigger than 6th street in Austin, Tx. Each are different uniquely different in that the same in anyway other than they are entertainment venues with a lot of people out and about. read more

The Row in the 'Nash' as I call it is mostly record-offices and business buildings, but here and there - especially South - there are bars, alleys, diners with outdoor seating and more bars and watering- holes. 5 stars for the history. I was expecting it to be more like Broadway with bars and music. Music Row is quite literally where a lot of artists were signed and recorded. Very interesting in a musical history sense but, not in a walk all the way from Broadway sense. A drive by to see historical plaques would have been enough since a few of the original buildings are no longer there. We did walk next door through Vanderbilt University and on to the Parthenon. Lots of walking in the humidity. An Uber back is in order! read more

First of all, music row is NOT lower Broadway. There are no bars and restaurants here, it's mostly record company office buildings with some statues and historical markers. It was fun to see that the streets are named after famous country singers of the "old days" . We visited during covid and on a weekday early afternoon, the streets were almost deserted and it was easy to drive by slowly. Be aware that most streets in the area are one way and there is a traffic circle, so stay alert. read more

Me and my husband were there with another couple, and we have made some new friends for the last few days of our trip. Music Row is arguably one of the most famous neighborhoods in the Nashville, if not the entire state of Tennessee. These few small blocks house the majority of the entire country music industry, which is astounding if you think of the magnitude we are talking about here. There are many other genres and factors of the music industry that are represented here, but this being the south, the focus tends to settle on country. Entertainment industry ventures of all varities are represented here, from law firms to music publishers to record labels and studios. There are marketing companies, management firms, performing rights organizations even companies that will press your CDs for you. You name it and if it pertains to music you can find it here. Music Row is the land of bittersweet ambitions and tearful dreams. Many a brave soul has tested their luck and abilities here in various forms. Some have succeeded, but a lot have fallen. All in all it boasts a mighty and impressive history for a city of the size of Nashville. Its this reason it is such a popular tourist attraction (even though when you get down to it, there really isn't much to look at other than an expanse of buildings with impressive names) and there are quite a few local tours that make stops along the way here. An impressive focal point of Music Row is the Roundabout off Demonbreun. If driving around in a circle trying not to crap yourself while hoping some jackass won't pull out and hit you doesn't get your heart thumping, take a glance over at the massive sculpture of naked dancing people. The apex of the two streets that compose Music Row funnels into Demonbreun, which is a popular spot to eat (and drink) for toursits and music industry workers alike. read more

This is such a great place to visit. My wife and I spent a couple evening during the week near Nashville's Music Row and are so glad we decided to come down and enjoy the local feel. There are a lot of different shops, restaurants and bars and of course just about everything here is related to country music. We spent our time checking out different bars and listening to the live bands playing in almost every place we went. We found a couple we really liked and then settled in at a very small bar with a couple of ladies playing a lot of familiar tunes and a few of their own. I highly suggest you spend at least one afternoon or evening walking around and experiencing this great place. read more

It's worth the walk if you're in the area. We took some pictures with the guitars, piano man, and the big microphone all of which were on the roundabout or close to it. Besides that, there isn't anything else to tour. Like I said, it's great if you want to walk around the area for a bit and then eat nearby. But I don't think it's worth it to drive here from downtown Nashville just to walk around alone because it takes less than half an hour to see everything. read more

Mainly a street block of commercial recording buildings. You will not see anything interesting on a drive by unless a famous person happens to be walking to their car from the building... This street is on several tours as a drive by so you will see it one way or another. The RCA Building tour is interesting, but you only get in by signing up for the tour at the CM Hall of Fame which is downtown Nashville. They then shuttle you to the RCA Studio ... so you will see Music Row then. read more

Quite the historic, and might I also add beautiful, neighborhood in Nashville, Music Row is a most excellent place to visit. There isn't really anything to do, per se, on your visit, but it's definitely worth a drive down 16th and 17th avenue to see where the magic happens. You'll see one recording studio after another located in the houses that line the streets, most with catchy names like 'Big Yellow Dog,' 'Love Monkey,' or 'Combustion.' You'll also see some of the giants like Sony. If you venture closer to downtown, you'll find yourself on Demonbraun street, a midtown haunt full of bars and restaurants (also a giant statue of some naked people dancing in the center of a roundabout) for those who want to party more like a local than a tourist. read more

It was cool to see where all the big Nashville labels are. You have to do this if you are visiting just to see it. We went on a weekday and there wasn't much going on and only a couple other tourists taking pictures. I think you may be able to tour some of them but we didn't have the time. read more

The absolute best thing i've seen on music row was a band called 'The Eskimo Brothers' at The Wheel !! Nothing better in my book !
