Castle Chicken is best known for its $2.99 "happy platter", which is basically a smaller version of a regular halal platter that can easily cost $10 or more these days. Despite the low price, they didn't skimp on the portion size. The platter came with a generous amount of chicken, and everything tasted fresh and well-seasoned. It was enough to leave me comfortably full. I also tried their fried chicken tenders ($4.50 for two pieces). They were fried fresh and made with juicy, good-quality white meat. Overall, Castle Chicken is one of the better spots around if you're looking for food that's cheap and filling but still delivers on quality. read more

Castle Chicken - 2 pieces chicken tenders & happy platter with chicken - Fast Food Near Me - Queens, New York

Attn Queens Peeps! I came across a great deal whether you're grabbing a quick bite after shopping at the mall in Elmhurst or heading home, Castle Chicken sells a loaded halal bowl for $2.99 (cash only). These days halal platters are getting so expensive! You can't beat the price for the quality. The jalapeños, the hummus and the pickled onions totally changed the game for me when it comes to toppings for a halal bowl. This place is right near the train so it gets PACKED after work. Also cash only for the bowls. Seating is limited so definitely a grab and go bowl spot. read more

I have been to the location in Bronx and couldn't wait to try this location. When I arrived I found parking on the street nearby. I walked in and was greeted. I ordered several items from the menu with the nice manager of the: $2.99 Happy Platter Chicken and rice Fish gyro Mango habanero wings 6 piece shrimp Honey bbq fries Lemonade The food was ready quickly. When I dug in the dishes were pretty good. I really liked the chicken wings and the chicken and rice platter the most! The lemonade was also really good. It was a good experience all in all! read more

Wow! I was surprised when I saw a sign outside that said $2.99 for chicken or lamb over rice. I walked inside and it was actually that price. $3.25 if you include tax. The price is unbeatable. It's not a huge plate, but it's enough for a quick meal. If you get two for $7.50, it can easily fill you up. The only thing I would recommend is asking if they can remove the random pieces of fries they add since those are sometimes a little bit stale. But overall, it tastes like any other chicken/lamb over rice and comes with the red and white sauce. read more

You cannot go wrong with $2.99 for chicken and rice and lettuce. Very tasty. Portion is good. I was starving when i got it so it wasn't enough but this is an excellent portion if you are normally hungry. Service is very fast. I took my food to go and it seemed pretty packed when i went on a Tuesday at 5pm. Mostly everyone was taking the "tasty chicken" to go. You can also get hot sauce with it but i didn't. Another thing to note is that there is no bathroom available. Probably because there's alot of traffic by a subway stop so understandably they don't want to deal with that. read more

Definitely worth the hype , also very busy lucky if you get a seat . It's family owned and the fellas were nice. They didn't rush my order or anything . It's fast food , no complains !! I ordered the fish with salad what I received was a mess. Fish cut up in pieces, a salad that was mish mosh of a mess. The fries where not crinkle cut or fresh certainly NOT as advertised, NOT worth the time or money. If your gonna make terrible food don't waste the time and effort. Texas is still hands down the only state I've been in where the food is good, hot and as advertised the BEST. This food was garbage, that I tossed out and requested a refund. I wish I'd ordered a bag salad from the supermarket then to have wasted my time and money on this. read more

I saw the $2.99 lamb or chicken over rice sign a while back and decided this would be a quick lunch to try out... what's to lose? If I hated it, it was 3 bucks. Well, the food was good for the price. I would say it's about half of the size of what you get in the regular $9 order, but not bad for a fast, cheap meal. The spot seemed to be popular with people coming in and out a lot. The flavor of the food was good, tastes like any other halal food cart. They did include a couple of random French fries, which I'm assuming was intentional... but I could've done without them. They didn't seem to add anything to the dish. I would suggest a little more meat, but again, what do you expect from a $3 plate?! Overall, it was good in a jiffy. I would say I'd even pay the full price for the regular size portion next time. Check it out if you're in the area, I've yet to see a better chicken over rice deal anywhere else! read more

Castle Chicken in Queens is a go-to spot when you're craving fresh, flavorful comfort food. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. Portions were generous, and everything came out hot and made to order. Service was quick and friendly, and the place had that classic neighborhood takeout vibe that keeps you coming back. If you're looking for solid fried chicken and satisfying sides, this spot definitely hits the mark. read more

The $2.99 halal platters are what caught my eye to this place! I tried both lamb and chicken platters. The chicken was a bit lacking in flavor, but the lamb flavor was better. They have white, red, and green sauces to choose from. The service was fast and our cashier was welcoming. The ambiance was similar to other fast food restaurants. For the unbeatable price, I recommend trying this place! read more

Castle Chicken - $3 Chicken (front) and Lamb (back) platters - Fast Food Near Me - Queens, New York

My sister and I decided to give Castle Chicken a shot for some halal food, despite it being a chicken spot that somehow flew under our radar until now. (For those interested in their actual chicken offerings, you'll have to look elsewhere - this review isn't about poultry inspections.) What drew us in? The price. Seriously, where else can you get chicken or lamb over rice for just $2.99? In this economy, that's practically a modern-day miracle. At that price point, I'm not about to start nitpicking. There are definitely better chicken and lamb over rice options out there. But when you consider the price, this little Happy Platter suddenly becomes a much more tempting offer. Sure, the portions are on the smaller side, but they're still filling enough, at least for me. Castle Chicken might not be winning any culinary awards, but for a meal that's easier on the wallet than a cup of coffee, it's hard to complain. Who knew you could snag a slice of halal heaven for less than three bucks? read more

This is your typical halal fried chicken/meat platter spot. Nothing that is crazy healthy, but it does get you full and happy. I like the deals they have ($2.99 happy platter and 10-11 pieces of fried chicken). The staff is very quick in preparing your meal. I've never had complaints about this place. I've never sat down and eat since many do sit down and eat. It's a clean fast food restaurant. I really appreciate the happy platter. You can get a chicken or lamb platter for $2.99 (not including tax). It is the smaller version of their chicken or lamb platter that is usually a whole meal. For the price and the fact that you don't need to eat such a large portion to get full, the happy platter is perfect. Sometimes, I even get 2 and call it a whole meal. The fried chicken is typical. Very halal style that you can find in most halal fried chicken spots (Kennedy fried chicken and other halal fried chicken spots). The only difference is this place feels much cleaner and brighter. read more

We had an amazing quick easy dinner here. Good was really good! Decent amount of chicken, good flavor. Not too spicy. I loved the veggies, it gave it a nice crunch and freshness to it. It had some ingredients that were unique. So it definitely sticks out and is different. But I really enjoyed it, and i dont like halal that much. Quick service? Castle Chicken really let me down with their "Happy Chicken or Lamb" deal. It used to come in a good-sized bowl and actually felt like a decent meal for $2.99. Obviously it's not supposed to be a full meal bc of the price. It's like a good side or in addition to whatever else you're having. But recently they've switched to a small, flimsy rectangular container--the kind you usually see used for sushi rolls--and the portion is way smaller. It's hard not to feel shortchanged. Disappointing to see them reduce quality like this just to save a buck. read more

Ordered delivery forgot to take picture, but will share. The customer reusable bag the food came in was a plus. I ordered the beef bacon cheese burger, the 3 piece chicken and wedge fries. Let's start with the burger, this place is halal so the bacon was all beef. I miss having these places closer to my home with halal fried chicken full of flavor and all beef. With all the chain chicken places this was so good and so refreshing. Will be ordering from them again yay! read more

This restaurant basically serves a mix of halal food and fried chicken. The food is fairly cheap with chicken and rice platters going for about $8 and burgers with fries and a soda for around $8-$9. Honestly though, the food is very average and is equal in quality to what you'd find at a decent halal street cart. The portion sizes are not that big and the food did not stand out at all. This place is okay if you are just looking for fast and cheap food. If you want better tasting and fresher halal food, I'd recommend Halal Eats instead which is only two blocks away. read more

The food is great, fried chickens are fresh, chicken very moist, cashier is nice and accommodating but the people preparing the food kind of kills the vibe when they give barely a scoop full of chicken... They can just raise the price by a dollar and have way better customer satisfaction regarding food portion.. Maybe just untrained staff trying to save the owner pennies while costing them dollars in the long run when customers don't order again and go to the carts instead read more

Ordered delivery from DoorDash. Over there, this place is called Castle Chicken and Burgers. 10 pcs chicken: the menu lacks details, but it's 10 pieces of fried chicken. Large portions and better value than most fried chicken restaurants. Classic Crispy Chicken Sandwich: it was a breaded chicken patty, not a piece of fried chicken. Most restaurants would call it a chicken sandwich, without the 'crispy'. Castle Burger: standard but good. Feels a bit like they're trying to copy the Big Mac. read more

Castle Chicken - Mix 5 piece - Fast Food Near Me - Queens, New York

Awesome HUGE portions of juicy crunchy fried chicken and Halal platters! Great prices, too! The management must've read the reviews about small fried chicken sizes and remedied the situation because I got a 4-piece mixed chicken box and my jaw dropped when I opened the box and saw the biggest frickin' chicken drumstick in my life. It looked like a baby turkey leg. Two big legs, two big thighs, hot and juicy, super crunchy, and full of seasoning. And super cheap at just $5 for an enormous portion. Also got a huge salad loaded with halal chicken and the toppings and sauces of my choice. The chicken was tender, juicy, delicious, and plentiful. And got a couple large crunchy chicken tenders for my kid who gobbled them right up - I snuck in a taste, and they were great. Service was prompt and super friendly, and all the employees were masked. Definitely recommend and will be coming back! read more

I was really excited when I saw a halal chicken store was opening in elmhurst right by my parents house. When this restaurant first opened their food was amazing, I love chicken sandwiches so I ordered a spicy crispy chicken sandwich. It was so good, the chicken was fresh, fried well and tasted like delicious hot chicken. The next couple of times I went I ordered the same spicy crispy chicken sandwich and fries and I got a chicken sandwich with the frozen chicken pattys you can find at grocery freezer sections, not good. The fries tasted like they were fried in old oil. I ordered fried chicken for my kids which was ok. Customer service here sucks as well. Tl;dr version: subpar chicken, good fries, expensive halal food Came here witha friend wanting to try this location out, seeing as it had replaced another fries chicken place that went belly up. We collectively ordered a spicy chicken sandwich, 3 piece combo, and 6 buffalo wings. The spicy chicken sandwich was very disappointing. The patty was a meat slurry patty instead of a whole piece of chicken breast. The bread was toasted, but fell apart while I was eating the sandwich. And lastly, the sauce was tangy and not spicy at all. I feel bad for saying this, but I honestly think the mcdonalds chicken sandwich is better. The fried chicken breading was bland and needed a lot of seasoning. We couldn't eat it without slathering it in ketchup and honey mustard. Despite the lack of flavor, the breading was very crispy and the meat inside was still juicy. So this chicken wasn't completely inedible. The fries it came with were pretty good, comparable to the mcdonalds variety. The biscuits were average and tasted like the store-bought pillsbury type. Not great but not terrible. We didn't try the halal cart food (lamb/chicken over rice) but the pricepoint of $8.50 seemed high. Especially when there's a halal cart that sells it for cheaper a few blocks away in front of the stop n shop. All in all, it was a disappointing experience and I likelt won't be back unless I'm truly desperate for fried chicken. read more

Started off good, but now a disappointment. When I came to this place late last year (2020), I thought the chicken was good and the price ($9.99/10pc) was a good deal. However, I can't say the same now after going to this place 4 times in the last 4 weeks. The experience went progressively bad. The price went up to $10.99/10 pc, which is fine, but now it's listed for "legs, thighs, and wings" only. So, you will not get any breast pieces anymore. However, sometimes they must run short on one type of piece and you get substituted other pieces. SO, I had orders where there were 5 tiny wings. 5 wings out of a box of 10 pieces. C'mon now. Today, I got 7 drumsticks. This is ridiculous. Unfortunately I didn't find out until I got home otherwise I think this is something they should tell you ahead of time before putting your box together. 7 drumsticks and 3 other pieces that appear to be a small cut out portion of what appears to be a cut up breast piece. Anyway, I find this really unacceptable and a bit deceptive. They occasionally put a street sign that says they have a "special" for 10 pieces of chicken for $10.99, which makes little sense when that is the regular price. The large fries for $4.50 also shrunk in size to half of what it used to be. All this happening in a span of 3 weeks makes me think that either I caught it at a bad time, or they are just not really caring much about customer service by allowing the their orders to be sold like this arbitrarily. I will say that the chicken itself tastes good, and I don't have a problem with that. But the pieces have gotten so small from just 3 weeks ago to today - and I don't even have a thigh or a breast piece to compare - the enjoyment of this is severely lacking. Unfortunately I can't recommend this place anymore for fried chicken. I tried coming back each week to see if it was a one-time thing, but I left this place today thinking that the honeymoon is over and it's barely half a year since opening. read more

I recently discovered this spot. I had the Chicken over Rice Platter, Fried Chicken with Fries, and Castle Burger Combo. All the platters are served with your choice of protein over brown basmati with choice of salad (various toppings). The quality of food is good - they are not cheap with their meat, if you mix well, you'll get rice, meat, and salad in every bite. You can choose which sauce you'd like, I drenched my platter with white sauce and hot sauce. The chicken was crispy and not greasy. The burger was tasty, even though the patty was thin but the bun was really fresh and soft. Really friendly staff and the service was pretty quick. Everyone wore masks (including every customer that entered), proper distancing was maintained, and they provide hand sanitizers. Castle is a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

I only tried the fried chicken here. It's just okay. It's pretty plain. Simple seasoning...if you want more flavor, I'd suggest you get your fried chicken somewhere else. This is probably the most basic chicken you could find. The meat wasn't very moist either. It's cheap if you only want chicken...but they don't give you a whole chicken... Its mostly thighs, wings and leg. Where's the chicken breast? If you're craving fried chicken, this wouldn't satisfy you. read more
