A Series of Indignities -- I Would Not Recommend Cassio Jewelry for Watch Repair I found Cassio Jewelry after Googling "authorized Movado repair near me" in The Woodlands, Texas. I was pleased to see a nearby result because previous repairs to my Movado Bold smartwatch required shipping it to Movado's facility in New York. Before visiting, I called and carefully explained that my Movado Bold uses two batteries: a rechargeable battery for its electronic functions and a separate battery for the analog watch. I specifically asked whether the analog battery could be replaced locally. The woman who answered asked me to bring the watch in, so I did. What followed was a series of indignities: Indignity #1: Accepting a repair without determining whether they could perform it. The man behind the counter looked at the back of the watch and said the repair appeared simple enough. I left it with him, along with another Movado that needed a standard battery replacement. After an unnecessarily long intake process, I was told both watches would be ready in a few days. Indignity #2: Failing to call when the watches were supposedly ready. Several days passed without any communication. I eventually called and was told that the watches had been repaired and were ready for pickup. Indignity #3: Closing early without notice. I arrived within the store's advertised business hours and within the timeframe I had been given over the phone, only to find the doors locked. A man standing in the repair area motioned for me to call the store. When he answered, he said the store had closed an hour early because of a special event. Indignity #4: Discovering at pickup that the main repair had never been completed. After reluctantly agreeing to "reopen the vault," the employee returned and informed me through the door that the Movado Bold had not been repaired. No one had called to tell me they could not do the work, despite previously telling me that the watches were repaired and ready. Indignity #5: Being met with a rude and dismissive response. When I explained that I should have been informed that they could not repair the watch, the employee retorted, "Well then maybe you should have sent it to Movado!" That is exactly what I would have done had Cassio Jewelry not appeared in my search for an authorized Movado repair shop and had its employees not encouraged me to bring the watch in. Indignity #6: Being made to wait outside in the August heat. The employee took my payment information for the other battery replacement, closed the door, and left me standing outside while he returned to the counter to process the transaction. As a Black man left sweating outside a locked jewelry store in The Woodlands, I felt humiliated and deeply uncomfortable. I could not help noticing the suspicious glances from people passing by. Indignity #7: The basic repair was not performed correctly. I later discovered that even the standard battery replacement had not been completed properly. When replacing the battery in a watch with a chronograph, the technician should verify that the chronograph hands return to zero when reset. That was not done. I will now have to pay someone else to correct the problem. This experience involved poor communication, an incomplete repair, substandard workmanship, an unexpected early closure, and an unnecessarily rude and humiliating interaction. I will not return to Cassio Jewelry, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend taking a watch there for any type of repair. read more

I left my 50-year old diamond solitaire ring at Cassios' for a larger diamond upgrade. When I got my ring back, the unique finish on the gold band was DESTROYED in the process. It looked like the band was polished clean with NO trace of the unique design. The Cassios' chose to deny ANY responsibility for the damage. They would not even acknowledge that the finish existed when I left the ring or that they could possibly have removed it. They charged over $500 for the "repair" NOT including the price of the diamond and flatly refused to refund the "repair" charge. I spent over $2600 to upgrade this ring. They destroyed the unique character of my vintage ring and expressed NO concern whatsoever for my dissatisfaction. They immediately went into legalistic defense mode...deny deny deny. They treated me like a grifter despite having been a repeat customer for many years. Mr. Cassio was defensive, arrogant and patronizing when discussing the problem. Thirty years of experience in the jewelry business does NOT make one infallible. Human beings can make mistakes. Taking responsibility and MAKING THINGS RIGHT is the very LEAST that an HONEST business person should do. Nothing has been made right in this situation. My ring was IRREPARABLY damaged. Cassios' IS responsible. Their denials and nastiness are inexcusable. I don't want to wear my ring now. It does not look the same and it only reminds me that the Cassios' ripped me off and treated me like trash. read more

I received a postcard from Cassio Creations advertising a precious metals and jewelry buying event June 17-19th and decided to stop by with a ring, and inquire about selling 22K gold and sterling silver. My experience was disappointing. When I initially asked about selling the ring, I was told the event was only for precious metals. I had to show the representative the advertisement, which clearly stated that fine jewelry was also being evaluated. After taking some measurements of the ring, I was told I would receive a follow-up call, but no one ever contacted me. I was also shown a handwritten sheet listing the prices they were being paid for various metals. The offered price for 22K gold was approximately $23 per gram, and sterling silver was listed at less than $1 per gram. I was told that the purpose of the event was simply to purchase items for their metal content. Afterward, I checked the approximate melt values for the same day and found that 22K gold was worth roughly $125 per gram and sterling silver about $2.25 per gram. While I understand that retailers need to make a profit and that purchase prices are typically below melt value, the offer on the metals appeared extremely low compared to the underlying metal value. Based on my experience, I would encourage anyone considering selling gold, silver, or jewelry to do some research on current market values and obtain multiple offers before making a decision especially when dealing with local. limited time buying events. read more

Visited this place and asked them to authenticate a Seiko PADI turtle special edition. The lady behind the counter said she would be happy to help, then she pulled up Google and started looking at images. When I said, I'm happy to pay for a Watchmaker to examine my watch for a real authentication she said "I can do it." and proceeded to look at her Google images screen. Good news, this watch is authentic as proclaim by the lady behind the counter. How difficult is it to go ask one of your watchmakers for professional assistance?, Good grief,... After much research, this is where my fiancé & I decided to purchase my engagement ring - a BIG decision. We had originally planned to do a custom ring because we couldn't find quite what we were looking for, but after sharing with Cassio our vision, they were able to find something off the shelf that met what we were looking for, saving us time & money! They were extremely patient with us throughout the process and answered all our questions for first time fine jewelry buyers... explaining metal options, strength, and all about diamonds. Cassio also jumped through leaps and bounds to find side stones that matched our center stone we already had. It was a big ask (because of the color of the diamond) & they totally delivered. It's a perfect match. There were multiple items they could have done to save costs & we would have been none the wiser (a microscopic scratch on the bottom of a stone, prongs that were too small) -- but they wanted to make sure everything was right, and openly made us aware of what they recommended - making it right at no charge to us. I included pictures of the ring (one with the smaller prongs and one with with larger prongs). I'm absolutely in love and obsessed with this piece!! The price was completely fair (comparing similar places both in person and online), they were very professional, and the experience met all of my dreams! 10 out of 10 --- absolutely recommend. read more

We went in to the store a few days later and were met by their son Josh (it's great to see what a family business this is!). Again, he was very friendly and helpful, answering all our questions and striking that balance between helping and giving us the space to figure out what was best for us. The checked with three different suppliers and got exactly what we wanted and got it here quickly. When I came back to pick the rings up and pay the balance I got to interact with Michelle. Once again... bright, friendly and very helpful. She gave me a number of tips on keeping the rings in top condition and all three congratulated us on the upcoming wedding before I left. Horrible. They try hard, but they're amateur hour if you're trying to get a high end watch repair. If you have a watch beyond a Timex in value, DO NOT use these watch butchers. Brought two watches to these clowns. One was destroyed as they broke one of the small hands in the chronograph and the other they marked trying to pry it open. I soooooo miss Donahoe Jewelers. What a wonderful jewelry store! I dropped off my Seiko Star Wars R2-D2 watch. I wasn't sure if they would be able to fix it, but not only did they do so, but did so within a week! That may not sound like much, but it is a very limited edition and parts and service can only be gotten from Japan if they are needed. On both occasions I visited, as soon as I entered the store the staff was amazingly friendly and went over the top to be helpful, even researching the watch and calling Seiko in New Jersey for more information. While I was waiting, I was able to see some of the beautiful items of jewelry that they carry, not to mention hearing how helpful and friendly they were toward other customers in the same manner they were to me. These days it can be difficult to find a store that has employees who truly value and appreciate their customers. There is not a doubt in the world that I will absolutely be giving them my business again in the near future! read more

A friend in The Woodlands recommended Cassio a few years ago when I needed to have an opal ring repaired. The ring was my mom's and had been made by my dad so it is a special piece. Craig made the effort to source opal and cut it for the setting as I had 3 stones that had cracked. The original opals all had a bluish cast to them and finding something to match was impossible. Craig found rough material that would work well with the existing stones, cut the opals and then reset several stones so they all worked together beautifully. I was very pleased with the work and appreciated the care that was taken. Recently I had two more rings repaired and sized. Again, the workmanship was excellent. I wouldn't trust repairs to anyone else. I've had the opportunity to look at some of the jewelry in the display cases and have some seen some beautiful items. And since they do custom work, I plan to take some old pieces and have something remade soon. read more

We first went to Cassio for repairs to my wife's wedding ring. The people couldn't be nicer and they managed to fix the ring quickly and inexpensively. They also found a loose diamond in another ring, fixed that, and also replaced batteries in two watches, including a Tissot which is very difficult and usually has to be done in Europe. LYING, THEIVING, SNOBS -- Stay away from this place!!! I took my engagement ring and wedding bands in for resizing. The receptionist said he'd have the "master jeweler" call me because he wasn't sure they'd be able to resize the engagement ring without replacing the head. I told him I wanted to keep the head because of sentimental value. Some days later I get a call from the master jeweler and am told he must replace its head to resize it. I explain to him the sentimental value and agree to the new head only if he saves the old one for me. When I pick up the engagement ring its missing the head. I politely decline to pay until the head is found. The receptionist snatches the ring and storms off into the back room. Moments later the master jeweler comes out and asks for the ring. I tell him the receptionist has it, he spins on his heal and mutters under his breath, "good." After some time he returns, hands me a packet of "scraps" and tells me he thinks some of the pieces may have been from my ring. He says I "never told him to save the head," then blames me because I "made the job so difficult." I left feeling so low and insulted. I was treated like a liar and thief and humiliated in front of my daughter. I am sure they will respond to this review with some snarky response, to which I say: Cassio Creations, you are LYING, THEIVING, SNOBS. Shame on you. read more

I had my Longines watch serviced here, and it is now running great! I noticed that the watch got new scratches on the back side of the case, presumably from the watch maker trying to open/close the watch case. After pointing this out to them, they took great care of the watch and fix the scratches so that it now looks even better than before! good as new! Great customer service! read more

Real nice, sure, but told me they would fix my bracelets in a couple weeks and it was almost 2 months. When I went to get it them, one was worse than when I took it there and the other broke where they welded it the fifth day I wore it. A ring I had sizing beads put on still spins on my finger. Another ring I had them repair has the diamonds so exposed they scratch my fingers and catch on fabrics. After having a terrible experience with another very well known jeweler in The Woodlands, we were told about Cassio. First of all, we found the owners to be wonderfully friendly and so, having already received my diamond engagement ring, we went to Cassio for our wedding bands. First of all, we were told there that the price of platinum had dropped significantly so we could get a great rate on our rings. (The jeweler where we bought my engagement ring did not bother to tell us of this drop in the price of platinum. In fact all, of the jewelry stores we went to when looking for my ring...Nobody mentioned this but the wonderful folks at Cassio) Not only did our wedding bands come out absolutely beautiful and were well priced but they were made quickly (We waited 6 mos at the other store for my engagement ring---a lot of excuses along the way.) Long story short, we will NEVER go to any jeweler BUT Cassio. Wonderful experience. Headed there tomorrow to pick up a gorgeous ring I had on layaway....LOVE going there.
