We shared their signature plate, the pork knuckle and it was delicious! I'm glad we shared it though cause it was a ton of food. The meat was tender and the skin was extra crispy. It's served with a delicious mustard sauce that goes well with the pork. It sits on a bed of mashed potatoes and sautéed veggies (cabbage, green beans and carrots). The beer selection is massive so it's also great for beer lovers. I would highly recommend this place to locals and tourists alike!

I actually wanted something 'lighter' but I asked for his recommendation, and of course he said the signature item that they are "famous" for. I also paired it with some whale, because I like eating protected and endangered species. The whale was the best part. Tastes like those cute little puffins, vaguely like a tender beef jerky. As for the caveman chunk of pork on a bone. Woof. I mean, it's good. The crackling is like pork rinds on steroids and the meat really did fall off the bone. The mustard sauce and the mashed potatoes were loaded with fat. However, the staff friendly and attentive. I love my meats, but this did not blow my mind. Would not go out of my way to come here, and I think the overall ratings are a bit generous.

We did not have a reservation, but luckily they managed to fit us in at a shared table. This place is extremely popular so I would highly recommend making a reservation. To start, we ordered the cod croquettes to share. Perfectly fried and golden brown, these croquettes were absolutely delicious and the accompanying sauce paired perfectly. For our entrées, I ordered the fish and chips while my husband ordered the creamy fish soup and my father ordered the fish gratin. All three dishes were fresh and delicious, but I think the fish gratin was my favorite. So if you find yourself an Oslo looking for a delicious meal down by the water, come check out Fiskeriet.

The outside seatings were very full. We had fish and chips, creamy fish soup, and the langoustine special. All are very good, especially the fish soup with salmon and mussels. Fish & Chips is the famous dish there. The langoustine plate came with 2 langoustines halved and some salad. , Service was fine, it was busy we were told the food could take up to 30 minutes to come out but it came sooner.

Adriatic Cafe+ is unique, independent and outstanding value. Just the way I like it :) Adriatic make fantastic Balkan food, that alone should hopefully get your attention as I cannot think of many cities in Europe where you can experience this amazing type of food. Its kind of a cross between Turkish / Greek and everything good in between. We stopped by for lunch having visited Oslo over a long weekend and I wish we had discovered this place sooner. They didn't have an English menu and not being familiar with Balkan food we struggled to pick out many dishes. Fortunately, the staff were really helpful and translated a number of things for us. We order the delightful feta burek, which is almost like a British style flaky pastry pie, the Cevapi, which are like mini beef sausage kebabs inside a fresh, hot pide style flat bread, chicken kebab and a shopska salad. When the food arrived we were instantly taken aback by the size of the portions and the quality of the food. Everything was so delicious and fresh and to make matters even better, it was the cheapest place by far that we had found in Oslo. I also discovered a new food in the form of Kajmak which was an accompaniment to the Cevapi. Its kind of like a soft, Philadelphia type cheese, but lighter and much more flavoursome. Anyway, it complemented the meat wonderfully and I just couldn't get enough of it. This restaurant is a perfect spot for a nice lunch or cheap dinner. It definitely needs your attention, so go check it out!

Where to start!?! The friendliest waitress that we were served by across our whole trip. Keen to help, chatty, efficient and explained the menu to us. Decor of the place was nice, open and bright. It is selling Balkan dishes and goes for a costal type feel with wooden ornaments dotted about the place. Now the two most important bits. The food is really really cheap for Norway and would even be considered good value on the UK. If your in Oslo and your sick of the high prices, get yourself along here and treat yourself at bargain pricing. The food itself was really really tasty. Great kebabs in lovely flat bread, amazing cheese & tomato salad and beautiful local pie style dishes. (All the actual dish names we had are on Rocco G's review if you want to check them out) I love this place and would go regularly if it was in Glasgow. If your a Oslo local you need to start giving it some love. If your a tourist you should check it out for lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed.

Elias Mat & Sant is located in the sentrum, Oslo's city center, so is walking distance to many sites and attractions. I visited here after walking from the palace along Karl Johans Gate as the restaurant is located off this main drag. Make reservations here for the restaurant is small and intimate. It was time to try reindeer while in the Nordic region of the world, so here I did. I ordered the reindeer stew, which was delicious. The reindeer stew was similar to a beef stew, but the reindeer is leaner, so didn't taste as heavy, which is a good thing. Over some mashed potatoes with a gravy and herbs and a side of lingonberry, it completed the meal. It also came with a side of complimentary bread, which is not always the case at other restaurants. That was a nice bonus though because the bread helped soaked up the stew. Perfection!

There are two parts of this restaurant, the fancy dinner option (you must make reservations for this portion) and the cafe which is self service. My boyfriend and I did not know you needed reservations for the dine in option so we sat ourselves in the very welcoming cafe dining room. The menu for both are the same so no worries if you can't get a reservation. The self serve option can seem confusing initially but they have a lot of grab and go but you can also order hot meals by ringing a bell for the chef. Check out is right before you leave the self service area which makes it really easy. I felt the prices were really fair too. For food I got the meatballs and split pea stew. My boyfriend got reindeer with cream sauce and mashed potatoes. I absolutely loved my meatballs, they were sweet and savory, I did not really like the split pea stew though. My boyfriend loved his entire meal and cleared his plate. We also shared their most popular dessert which is the apple pie. It was really good, not too sweet which was perfect for us. Definitely come to this restaurant when visiting Oslo!
