So here's my thing... I've always loved Casper's hot dogs. But I don't love their prices for what they are. I can make the exact same thing at home for much less, which is what I do now because I can replicate their hot dogs. However, I will say that if I'm in a pinch, this is where I will stop. Great nostalgia. Service is the same as it was in the 90s. I think this is the closest one to me. Because the one in Castro Valley definitely closed. It feels like Casper's is kind of a thing of the past. So when I'm looking for that nostalgia, I may end up here from time to time. Everyone should experience caspers at least once. read more

Usually I research places on Yelp to get all the details, but I just did a quick browse and said ok let's do it. The location is very unassuming, old style building with old school layout , counter, stools and tables (and no public restrooms). As we walked in 3 welcoming employees were ready to take our order. The mayo helps with the hot link heat, but if I do regular then no mayo. Maxwell Pickle Dog (Polish Dog everything no relish, add deli mustard, sauerkraut, and pickle) (4.5 Stars) I have discovered they use a better dill pickle, they use to have a bright green thing, it was horrible, but now they have a decent pickle. I came here randomly on a weekend at around 6 pm. Just wanted to try a local establishment. I got a hotdog with tomatoes, relish, and mustard. It was really good and around $8. Very happy this place is still thriving . Had a quick sit in bite here today on a Friday afternoon in summer. No mine, they have DoorDash signs everywhere so looks like there's big. The employees have a huge tip jar that is overflowing so you kinda know the service will be adequate. Downtown old Dublin next to car shops and various small businesses, across from the post office . The menu is really small I don't think they have nachos anymore damn. There used to be a Casper's in Newark ( my hometown)next to Memorial and NewPark Mall. Lot of them have closed up shop like the Walnut Creek one now it's a Jersey Mikes. I orders the police with cheese. Not very healthy but not greasy either . It filled my stomach. I wish they had better chips these are the exact same chips box you get at Costcos. When I'm craving hot dogs I either go here or Weinersnitzel their prices have seemed to gone up too almost the same prices here. If you like hot dogs, you really can't go wrong with a Casper's hot dog. I live in Sacramento, but any time I'm in the Bay Area, and there is a Casper's close by, I always make sure I go. Ive been to this location in Dublin a few times, so I was excited to come here again. As usual is was delicious as always. I just get a cheese dog, with ketchup and mustard. My parents love this place and so I finally had the chance to come try. I got the classic casper dog and I think it was pretty good. There were two people working, one at the order station and one checking out. We had a great experience while ordering yet while paying the employee was rather harsh. Im from Sacramento. We usually always get caspers on our way home. Usually go to the Hayward location but occasionally we come here. decided to stop here because it was open later. We ran a little late on our schedule for the day and online it said they closed at 930pm. We showed up at 915pm and they had all the lights off and closed before the time says online. It didn't have that crunch that Casper's is known for. And they forgot to put ketchup. I took 2 bites and threw it in the garbage. Service: 2/10 I was already hesitant to come inside because the guy working was smoking outside and the other guy picked up a box of pizza from the top of the trash can. But decided to try Casper's despite my instincts. I came in on a Tuesday afternoon. I walked inside and was the only one in the restaurant. There was a girl by the register. Headed her for lunch the other day. I had heard about this place, and decided some hot dogs would hit the spot. Walked in, placed our order and was on our way. I went with 2 Casper Dogs with everything on them (mustard, relish, onion, tomato) and my Mom went with one. Had a Coke to drink. I liked the dogs! They were a natural casing dog, pretty long, too! They cut the onions and tomatoes in a half moon shape and stuff them in the buns. Most bites had a good clean bite of tomato, onion, dog, mustard and relish. I really enjoyed them! $4.99 each, which is a little steep, but they were bigger dogs than normal, so it was worth it. Staff was friendly. My 10-year-old child has started referring to him as the "sweaty guy" and now dreads going if he's working, which unfortunately seems to be the case most times. Owners, please consider supporting this employee with the help he may need, such as time off for personal care or professional assistance(rehab), rather than having him represent your iconic brand in this state. A young man intentionally passed us by and hurried through the door so he could be next to place an order..... for 10+ people ugh ( you know who you are). BUT this story isn't about someone jumping the line, but rather about an individual , Steve, the man behind the counter, watching an increasingly long line form in front of him, it was the lunch hour. He calmly filled the order and methodically went through the order TWICE to ensure it was correct, who does that these days?? He was as friendly and thoughtful to that young man, as he was to all of the people that came after him... the seniors, the younger folks and clearly the 'regular's.' It is a Casper's in Dublin!!! Since 1951 this location has served up steamed dogs and buns. Just like all other Casper's the choices are the standard fare. Hot dogs, polish, turn overs, chips and milkshakes. Sit at the bar or at a table, you will find your butt on the iconic round swivel seats. Always fresh ingredients cut daily, top your dog the way you like it. For me it is a Cheese dog with everything ( cheddar cheese, relish, mustard, tomatoes and sliced white onions ). Then I just have to hit it with whatever vinegar based hot sauce they have on hand. Today it was Krystal's Hot sauce. Even though I am an adult, the kid in me was swinging his feet off the seat, in utter cheddar happiness. I will give five stars because there aren't many hot dogs spots in the USA. one could quibble about certain things like the carnival vendor demeanor or the people who cut the line with a 10 person order, or that you better have from the start how many hot dogs total you want, or getting rushed if you pause, even if there is nobody else there, or that its a little pricey, but not overly so for these days, or that there might be some things you don't like. For me i do like an occasional hot fog, but don't want to commit to getting a two pack from costco, and getting all the other ingredients together. They have great extended hours, and are typically pretty quick getting the order out. Its definitely goid to have them here for the occasional hot dogs spots and not having to worry about all the other ingredients. Been going here for years. Literally decades--my go-to place for comfort food hotdogs. A week before Xmas I ordered two cheese dogs for the wife and I. Brought them home....no cheese. Went back, got cheese but no apology or eye contact. At this point, I didn't want Casper's anymore. So my wife and son ate them. Out of our family of 5, guess who suffered from food poisoning? Very old school and retro feel of a place. I biked over here to grab a quick lunch today, and it was good. For about $7, you will get you pretty much one of any of their hot dogs. $10 for a combo of chips and a drink. I went with the hot link, and I wish it was spicier. I realize Caspers has quite a local following, so of course, it was time for another visit. I had high hopes! Perhaps, I thought, it has become a 5-star restaurant. Maybe I will love their hotdogs. Anything is possible! Oddly, the hours listed on this site show that it is closed on Sunday. I was happy to see it was actually open. Today I ordered the kraut dog with everything, for about $5. The server was fast, efficient and friendly. My order was ready in less than 2 minutes. I wasn't too keen to eat in their minimalist dining room, so I took the hot dog to the local beer brewery, very close by. The final product doesn't look like much, which matched the taste. Seems like a cheap hot dog in a cheap bun. Sauerkraut was just so-so. To be fair, maybe some of their other products might be tastier. I am open to suggestions. read more

Maybe its because I grew up in the area, but Casper's has been consistent comfort food for the last 30 years. Staff come and go of course, but the general principles are the same. This isn't some kind of wannabe gourmet place with artisanal onions or something, its a family-owned local chain that has made things the same way for almost 100 years. I really like that the shredded cheese is added after and isn't melted slices like used in the Midwest and the buns are not grilled to be as crispy as places back East. Took a friend to eat here after an appointment in the area. I ordered the Caspers hotdog and it was pretty good. My friend ordered the chili and she said it was pretty good as well. The restaurant is pretty small inside and the day and time we went, it was a little crowded with quite a few people in line. The only negative I can mention is the staff that works there was a little grumpy and seemed rushed and didn't seem to know how to work the register.
