After my full first day in London (non-jetlagged), after wandering around what seemed to be 16 museums, I needed a beer. A delicious, dark beer. Oh and a burger. Naturally I had bookmarked CASK as a stop, not only for the raves, but also because it was close to my hotel. Because, drunk priorities. I came in and was a little unsure of where to go, as I am a stupid American. Like, really really dumb. Thankfully the beer behind the bar beckoned me and I was able to order an Old Moor Porter and a burger. I sat down at one of the many open tables (early-ish on a Monday evening so it wasn't too full yet). The burger was quite delicious and I seem to have rated the porter a 3.5/5 on untappd. While I would definitely recommend to beer lovers everywhere, one star because I feel the service could have been improved. Excellent selection of craft beers!!! 300+ bottles of beer from all over the world, 10 cask ales, 15 keg lines! So many choices, so little time! In addition to ales, several ciders, wines and spirits, too! Typical pub food burgers ( on brioche buns!) with house chips but delicious and comforting after a long day touring! They had vegetarian option portobello topped with halloumi - tasty! Sunday roasts are offered - we didn't get to sample as we were there on a weekday. You will not find a better selection in London. I think this could easily become one of my favourite "local" spots in London. The beer selection is so extensive that it's almost overwhelming - in a great way! You could easily spend a whole evening here trying different beers you've never heard of and not even make a dent in the menu. And that's only the drinks. It's worth the trip over to Cask for their burgers too. I had a simple cheeseburger (topped with cheddar) and it was delish, perfectly cooked burger on a nice brioche bun with a side of chips - I cleaned my plate. Also, must mention the fantastic array of sauces! Alongside your usual tomato ketchup, mayonnaise and bbq sauce, also sat a bloody mary ketchup and honey mustard! Not just mustard, honey mustard.. I haven't been able to find that anywhere else in London yet. Just to note, Cask seems to get really busy for after-work drinks on Friday and also on the weekends, but it's pretty manageable during the week. read more

I came to the CASK Pub and Kitchen on a soggy Monday night, even though the weather was inclement the pub was surprisingly packed and we were lucky to find a table at which to sit. The beer menu is extensive with over 350 different types to chose from however the general busyness of the place sadly means that the staff have to devote less time to the individual customers. The Kitchen part of the name gets mixed reviews but this is beer pub not a gastro pub. read more

No doubt about it: this place rocks. Chief amongst its attractions is its extraordinary range of beer (in the region of 350 different types), including some leftfield choices you're extremely unlikely to encounter in your typical boozer (I'm gonna have to face it, I'm addicted to Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast) and which you can takeaway. Their food is also reasonable and though a popular Pimlico hangout, it's usually possible to get a table. The only criticism I've heard of it is from wine-lovers unimpressed with their viticultural offerings, but then this is a beer house first and foremost. Perfect! We were staying in a hotel near and searched for some good burger and ale... and found that great place on the internet. The burgers were fantastic, we had cheeseburger with cheddar and one with bacon and cheese. We only managed to try the draught beers, we were four and couldn't make it through the whole range of tap beer. And there is a huge menu of bottled beer as well! If you're tired of the standard English pub selection of ales... If your friends say that English beers suck... If you're sober and you'd prefer not to be, with taste.. this is the place to go. We stopped in here after seeing a favorable review, and frankly, we were unprepared for the extensive beer selection to choose from (because it was noon, and we had places we needed to be.) The beer selection was truly varied with different styles and regions represented. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful- the holy triumvirate for waitstaff. When we ordered a beer no one in our party liked they even took it off our tab! Additionally, I liked the location: it was spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend this place. read more

I visited this place twice in London. In three days. You could say I was impressed. Really interesting spot to check out the craft beer movement in the UK. They had the first beer brewed in the UK with Citra hops, a cask ale that was delicious. Also had English versions of an American IPA, a Berliner Weisse, and a barrel aged imperial stout, all excellent (especially the Berliner Weisse). The killer was an imperial stout aged in Jameson barrels, Ger'Onimo by Beavertown. Not cheap, but better than buying a bunch of crap at the duty free with my leftover pounds. Besides English beers, there were a couple taps of Stone and three taps of Evil Twin (I had to partake in a Yang). Bottle selection was very good, strong sour representation (variety of Cantillon, 3 Fonteinen). I had a burger with Stilton, very good, but the star here is the beer. In terms of ambiance, I was here with on a Wednesday afternoon and a Friday night. Wednesday afternoon was very sleepy, there were six people total in the place. A good place to chat in peace. Friday evening was very busy, but in a good way. And unlike a lot of beer bars in the US, a good ratio of women to men. And attractive ones to boot. I spoke with one of the guys tending bar, Darren, for quite a bit. Super knowledgeable about beer, really good to hear about the scene in London. Learned a few bits of trivia as well (like Green Flash is brewing West Coast IPA out of St. Feullien in Belgium, crazy!). Great fellow at a great bar. read more

Loved this place. So many beer options. Other than the cask ales everything they had on tap was pretty much 10%. My pint of black and tan was made with two 10% beers, and it almost knocked me over, it was beautiful. Ask for the beer menu, or just ask one of the older guys behind the bar. They know their stuff, and are happy to make suggestions. Haven't tried the food yet - it doesn't look particularly spectacular, but you shouldn't go there for the food anyway... read more

Do not be deceived by the outward appearance of this pub.. I nearly didn't go in the first time I went there, call me overly cautious but I felt it had a 'locals only' kind of look! It is anything but though - I've met London residents who have travelled over an hour to get to CASK, it is THAT good. Perhaps the quintessential British pub. Cask features an amazing selection of craft ales, one that is rotated on a regular basis. Those keg ales of this week will unlikely be there next month. If you cannot find a delicious brew from their kegs, they've got bottled beer galore that will surprise and delight even the craft beer afficianados. Their burger are good eating. Not great, but a solid 3/4 out of 5. The chips are served with nice sauces, and the place is always bustling with activity. Whether its the live music on Sundays, or just a place to meet up with your mates after a busy day at the office, this is the place to come. "That is a tasty burger". Pulp Fiction fans...you out there? These are some delicious hamburgers. Not overly done up. It's just really quality meat, bread and toppings. Oh, and the French fries? Top 5 French fries I've ever eaten. So damn crispy. How do they do that? Many cask beers on tap as well as bottles. I had two of their Bitter style brew. And, it wasn't just your regular old brew. Very tasty with a great finish. Unfortunately, I'm only in town for the night. I'd recommend this to any friend and hide it from all enemies. I'd like to see a slightly enlarged menu. It's pretty limited. I get it, I get it. It's about the beer and burgers. Nonetheless, more menu items would be good. read more

If you're in the area and you fancy good beer, you will be spoiled for choice. The staff were really friendly and the food was good. It's just burgers on the menu, but the burger choices are excellent. I had a vegetarian burger that was very tasty. It was big enough that I ate it with a knife and fork. I love the big trough of sauces and ketchups and things to put on your burger and your chips. It's a short walk from the station. It gets crowded because it's good. My server was wearing a Fraggle Rock T-shirt and that amused me to no end. read more

Yep, since we only had one choice for a (too) brief layover in London, this place hit the mark. Walking distance from our hotel, it had a delightful selection of beers and ales. The man behind the bar (Peter, who it turns out is co-owner of this and several others) listened to my request, pondered the choices, then provided a sample of his suggested selection. He was patient and thoughtful, and I was quite impressed with his knowledge and attentiveness to what I wanted. We tried several beers and ales, including one that I hope to find in the states (a Belgian that set the bar to a new height.) Food selection was limited, but was delivered fresh and delicious. A total gem! During a week long trip to London, and having rented an apartment in the neighborhood, this was a welcome change from some of the other watering holes in town. After researching pubs in advance of the one week trip, we stumbled across a New York Times article highlighting several pubs, including this place. We were delighted to discover that it was no more than a five minute walk (or stumble) from our flat. We never ate here, so my comments and rating revolve around the booze. We made two trips to this joint while we were in London. The prices were quite fair considering the breadth of their offerings and the quality of the beers served. The beers are priced based on their alcohol content. There are a few menus available from the bartenders which go over the massive bottles selection that supplements the draft offerings. I was delighted to see that Pretty Things out of Somerville MA had made the jump across the pond. There was quite a strong selection of American micro- and craft brewers, though given the relatively easy access at home, I was tempted by the British stuff that might be harder to find. There was a casual and cozy atmosphere to the place. It got quite a mix of people, which added to the casual atmosphere. The bartenders were quite knowledgeable about the beers and were happy to provide samples (trying before buying). They were also quite good at providing recommendations based on your preferences. Should my travels bring me back to London, I will definitely return. The one drawback was the ~11pm close time, but that's not their fault. Though I suppose that it's a good governor for my love of their selection of beers. read more

Their selling point is the interesting beers they sell - they have a rotating selection on tap and big boards displaying all the ones that have featured in the past. So - boys (and girls) into their speciality beers will love it. I feel it falls down on the atmosphere. You can see they've put effort into giving the place a makeover but the space is just not very cosy or conducive to settling in for more than one drink. But, that's just my very subjective opinion. Nice place away from all the "tourist" places on the main streets. I felt right at home as the staff was nice and friendly. Great selection of beers on tap and the guy minding the bar was helpful. Food was awesome. My wife is very picky about her beef and she was impressed with the hamburger. Cooked just right. The chips were excellent and we think they were the best on our trip to London. This is a solid pub with a variety of cask and bottle beers. I suggest getting there early because some tables will be reserved depending on the night. I can't speak to their food, but if you like to throw a few back and sample different flavors this is your place. There's comfy seating throughout and relatively quiet until everyone meets up after work for a post-work cocktail. Popped in on a Thursday evening - excellent beer menu, selections from around the world and mostly smaller producers (the only place in Europe I've ever seen Racer 5 and some other CA micros). The staff is kind enough to allow one to try a shot before ordering a pint to make sure it is something you'll like. The food menu is very British pub food, and while I wasn't in the mood that day, it all looked great at nearby tables. It should be noted, there are only a few options for vegetarians - but there are some options. The space is very open, which means it is also very loud. Not a major issue, but certainly something to think about if you're planning to have a conversation. read more

Since I'm not much of a beer person, I can't really attest to how great the selection is BUT I had the best fruit beer ever here. I think it was raspberry flavor and I don't remember the name :( but you'll have to trust me on that one if you enjoy fruity beer like I do. Just ask the bartender! As for the food, it is definitely a tiny selection for the noms but that's because you're supposed to come for the beer and why expect a gourmet food menu in a pub when all you need is a good selection of burgers? I had the veggie burger (halloumi and mushrooms) and I really enjoyed it. It's like I went to an actual burger joint and not a pub! Also, they have chips with BACON DUST! Yep, I was pretty mind-blown too! These were pretty good but watch out for your clothing - because it's bacon "dust" you may be fooled by how tasty and fluffy looking it is, but get some on your blouse and b-a-m, you realize you're literally eating bacon..in dust form. Crazy. For a non-beer enthusiast, I was content that I was able to find a drink I liked and the food to satiate my hunger but I do think it's more worth the visit if you're here for the drinks and not the food (that is unless you're into the idea of bacon dust. You don't expect to find something this good here! Even when you find the venue, unless you know what to expect, you should find yourself pleasantly surprised. With half a dozen ales and a similar number of foreign beers on tap they have a selection of drinks that is hard to beat, I just wish they were a little bit cheaper. It is fair enough when a 10pc beer is about 6 pounds a pint (best to stick to halves anyway), but for a five point something percent Oktoberfest beer from Germany this seems well over the odds, despite the rarity. Luckily I was accidentally undercharged, which means I can hardly complain or deduct a star. :) read more

American in London for 9 days... on my second night I asked a local why all the pubs in London served the 5 same shitty beers: Fosters, Stella and 3 other bland beers... she told me I had to visit Cask. She was an angel sent from God!!! I told all my friends that had traveled with me that we were going to check out a "real London Pub"... so we got our shit together and went down to Cask. We were overwhelmed by the Beer Bible they call a menu... we never ate, only drank our arses off, but what amazing beer it was!!! I was a little disappointed by them closing so early, I believe 11pm, but I heard this was more due to British zoning laws. I was good to go for another few hours, this place was that cool to just hang out and drink in, and tell funny stories and dirty jokes. The beer of the trip for me was their Arbor Ale's 500 IPA... that's right, kids, they brewed hops into the beer for 500 straight minutes. This is brewed in Bristol. It was amazing. The bartenders were super-friendly, let us taste different beers, one even let one girl take a glass that said "Cask" on it home to her boyfriend. Super cool people. The interior was super-sleek... the lighting was dim, warm and inviting. Plenty of seating. Gets busy late, so you'll probably be standing at somepoint, but enjoy the beer - that's why you're there!!! Best pub in my 9 days in London. read more

We just had a glass of beer/cider, but I could already tell I'd like this place even for food. Our beer and cider were both fresh and tasty. The selection was varied and nice too, with plenty of different ales, ciders, etc to choose from. For food, they seemed to do burgers only. Although we didn't eat anything, based on observing what were being served at the tables around us, the burgers looked solidly done. Ambience is simplistic and yet, just casual and perfect enough for a relaxed evening. I'd definitely return for more beer and some. burgers! read more

Great beer. LOTS of beer. And the food provided by Forty Burgers is cracking. If you've never had a Forty Burger you're missing out, honestly! CASK I believe is part of a small chain of CAMRA recommended pubs. They must have over a hundred different beers available at any given time and they are regularly changing the selection. The staff are friendly and knowledgable about their products and tasters are always available. Beers come in pints, halves and thirds and prices are determined by the alcohol percentage of the beer. As everyone has said this is a beer house and you should come for the beer. The beer menu was described as overwhelming and I actually didn't order any. Everyone else I was with did and were pleased with their selections. I ordered the food and it was decent for a place known for their beer. We had the nachos with beef and a hamburger with chips. The chips were amazing and I wasn't even drunk! But I like a good thick chip that is hot out of the fryer. The nachos started off ok, but if they aren't eaten fast get congealed under the weight of the chili, cheese and refried beans. Maybe if there had been 5 of us vs. 3 this would have been a good pick. We will be going back, my husband has assured me of that! And hopefully this time I will try one of the many beers! read more

One of my friends had to take a Euroline back to France so we didn't want to go too far from Victoria. So I used yelp to try and find us a nice place to eat and have one last meal/drink before she left - and we weren't disappointed. The staff was very friendly (even when we took quite a long time to decide what we wanted to eat). Their condiments were amazing: Bloody Mary ketchup and several delicious mustards (and I'm usually not very fond of British mustards but their honey mustard was spot on). We both got bacon & cheese burgers, which were lovely (just the right amount of cheese and not too salty). The sweet potato fries and the regular fries were both good and crunchy. They kept the food very simple and enjoyable. Their ginger beer is very good, not too sweet and very gingery. They have a great selection of ales and lagers and if you feel a bit lost (like I did!) the staff is helpful and gives good advice. In total I think we paid about £30 for the two of us, and had a lovely time and good meal. It was a weeknight and the place wasn't too crowded but still lively. Not the most original pub read more

I have absolutely no reason not to give these guys five stars. They can have all of my stars. I've been wanting a decent pub in Victoria for so long, but I always end up in the rubbish ones. This one is only five minutes away from the station, but it's FANTASTIC. They have a mix of real ale and Belgian beers on, both of which are good. Not too pricey either. I had an ale which was very hoppy so decided to switch (one more and I'd have fallen on the floor). My friend was instructed to get me a light ale that was less hoppy than that one. He came back with something that looked like Engine Oil. A nice enough pint, but not to my tastes. Still, we swapped drinks and all was good. There's an outdoor seating area for the smokies. a friendly local vibe and I think they do food too. The barmen were also pleased when I told them that the ladies loos were a bit of a mess. But then I wondered if they thought I'd messed them up... If you're in the area, you should come here. It's a great little boozer, full of local charm and happy vibes. And strong beers that will get you really really tipsy. read more

An absolutely lovely pub near Victoria that specialises in real ale- mainly English, German and Belgian, both on tap and in bottles. I wish I could've spent more time here but I had a meeting to go to, otherwise I could've spent hours in here. There's extremely friendly service, in a spacious and comfortable interior. You can chat to the landlord about the beer and get beers recommended to you. There's a good range of beers- not an exhaustive range but a variety that puts most London pubs to shame. The beer's not cheap, but you pay for quality. There's a limited and straightforward food menu, which I didn't try. (After a quick Google it seems that this pub was formerly known as the Pimlico Tram and was rebranded in 2008.) read more
