We were in the river view room and it was cozy with a great deck view of the river. We were able to get settled in pretty quickly and wander by the water; sit and enjoy the scenery, and last but not least see their little rabbits, chickens, and prince the peacock! Ludger was an amazing host and really made us feel welcome -- can I also say he puts some restaurant chefs to shame with his breakfast creations? I found it super thoughtful that they had a check in sheet asking about allergies, dietary restrictions, and even taste preferences. He definitely accommodated to my vegetarian palate while still cooking up some of the best meals I have ever had at an inn, hotel, and possibly even restaurants. Kudos to him. It was super nice to have fresh fruit from the orchard be included the meals and it really added such a great touch to them. Price wise, I would say it is very reasonable for the delightful experience, calm and quiet surroundings, and comfortable stay. I have recommended this spot to every friend I have seen this week and will continue to rave to everyone about how amazing this spot is. Working with Tim Putnam of Smokeblossom Catering turned out to be a completely and utterly…read morenightmare experience. Last winter (Dec 2017) we signed a contract with Tim to cater our wedding in the Methow (late summer 2018). We then promptly sent him a deposit check for $1,500. After not hearing anything for a week, we discovered that the deposit check had been stolen out of our mailbox at our home in Seattle. After this discovery, we immediately reached out to Tim to both send him a new check, as well as get his help by confirming with our bank that he had never received the stolen check. Tim had absolutely no empathy or understanding of the situation. He immediately backed out from the catering agreement which left us scrambling. In order for us to recover the stolen funds, our bank needed Tim to sign a document stating that he had not cashed the check and hadn't received payment. Tim absolutely refused to do this. He repeatedly accused myself, my fiance, and my sister (who was assisting with planning) of stealing the check ourselves, trying to steal his identity and personal information, and lying to him. Multiple times he hung up on us while telephoning and behaved completely irrational. We worked incredibly hard to make the process smooth for him. We spent hours on the phone with his bank and our bank, as well as the Seattle Police Department, trying to recover the $1,500 funds. We sent Tim written confirmation and documentation of our engagement and impending wedding, but he only threatened us and continued to accuse us of fraud and attempting to steal his personal information. In total, we spent over 50 hours trying to sort out this mess. We were absolutely stunned and heartbroken throughout the whole process, having not only lost a large portion of our wedding budget, but also being treated so poorly during what should have been a happy time. Our initial impression of Tim was positive, which is why we initially signed a contract to do our catering with him. However, as we worked to recover the funds (which we were never able to recover the $1,500 due to Tim's staunch refusal to confirm to the bank that he never received payment), it became extremely clear that we could never, ever recommend Tim and Smokeblossom Catering to anyone. I cannot speak to Tim's culinary abilities, but I would advise anyone interested in Tim Putnam and his catering company to steer clear of this irrational man and his business and his poor and distasteful business and communication skills. Thankfully, we found another fantastic and local catering company to work with, and the food at our wedding was lovely and enjoyed by all.

I can't stress enough how dog friendly the Blue Elk Inn is compared with others. In general Leavenworth itself is very dog friendly. Wherever we walked, including on Front Street, we saw many dog owners out with their pups. My GSD was in dog heaven! We even met another dog owner in town, whose kids were so sad, because they felt they couldn't take their dog on the trip with them. I recommended they consider the Blue Elk Inn for their next visit to Levenworth. They seemed ecstatic to learn of such a dog friendly hotel and one without dog weight limits, as their dog was large like our German Shepherd. I also showed them a pic of the dog friendly package left on our bed, which included a dog blanket (for your pet to lay on your bed), a paw cleaning towel and dog treats. The front desk also had a dog treat & poop bags display. I've never seen such a dog friendly hotel and where each and every available room was also dog friendly! We stayed in the Superior King with Patio, which includes a private entry and gas fire pit. This particular accommodation is extremely convenient for potty breaks, rather than those rooms inside the Inn or on the 2nd floor, especially for those late night potty breaks. Plus, since the patio is fenced in, it allows your pup an area to roam off leash. It's also nice for those that might have loud pups, when left alone, while you're out eating or enjoying the pool, jacuzzi or sauna. The patio rooms are close to your parked vehicle, so that's another plus, if that option is necessary. The wonderful breakfast, which is included, was also a very welcomed hit each morning. This is not a Continental Breakfast, it's a full on breakfast, which rotated daily. I've never stayed at a place that was so dog friendly and will definitely stay at the Blue Elk Inn again on our next visit to Leavenworth!

This was at about 2:15 PM. The gal who answered clearly didn't want to be there and was very terse and unfriendly. She said she'd text if it was ready early. She never did. She clearly has no business being in hospitality. Soooo I checked in at 3:51 pm Room Ready. Very unfriendly. Gave me explanations to the key, a code to door and a dog towel. She never did text to tell me when it was ready. She never went over the details of the hotel, breakfast, other than that the hot tub was broken. I had to use chat GBT to find out when breakfast was. Icings on the cake? Last time we were here it was also my Birthday. They left a lovely bottle of bubbles. This time a happy birthday card some chocolate and a brand new wine opener with NO WINE. Last but not least, Roku tv loaded, opened live TV clicked on every channel and the screen turned black. I tried everything trying to get on turning it off making sure it was updated. It was not a user error. I can assure you. Said front desk lady was unhelpful. I tried what she suggested. No luck. She should've offered us a different room. The keurig was nice but no water. The self phone charging pads built in to the lamps seemed helpful to use but both sides did not work. Needless to say our stay has been grossly disappointing. For starters, we had FOUR different areas at our venue that needed sound equipment set up and managed in a pretty tight timeline- including outside on a bluff in the snow. The amount of anxiety I had thinking of the logistical planning of this that he didn't even blink twice at. And, on the day of our wedding, he set up everything in a literal snow storm (and with a broken elevator!) and had everything working perfectly. He flawlessly transitioned our outside ceremony to our cocktail hour, to our dinner room, to our dancing room without a hitch. One of my biggest pet peeves with wedding DJ's is when they play a cocktail hour/dinner playlist on a loop. Joaquin not only incorporated our favorite music, but managed to put in his own suggestions throughout the day based on guest's preferences too (we requested those on our RSVP's) so every moment was new and exciting. His MCing between moments during the wedding was exactly what we wanted-quick, direct, and kind. If I wasn't already impressed with his professionalism, I was truly blown away by how he managed the dance music at the end of the night. The kind gentleman at the front was very nice about redoing it for us mentioning that it happens often. Our room was on the first floor, so it was very convenient being able to park right by it. The room was a bit dated , but was very clean & came with a fridge & microwave which was a plus. Breakfast is served every morning which included some pastries, cereal, yogurt, & really yummy potato casserole. There was apple juice & the cider, coffee, & tea in the lobby area. This place had a very homey feel. I thought it was really cute that the casserole was being made right there by the woman working there. It is a perfect walking distance to the village. Everyone working was kind. Would stay here again.
