We had a very cozy stay at the Blue Elk this Oktoberfest weekend. Our third floor king room was pretty basic, with a comfy bed, desk, and a balcony. The bathroom is pretty small with only one sink. The hot breakfast was nice. We loved all the blue elk touches all over the lodge. We made several trips into town using the cut-through in the backyard. It's about a mile walk to the center of town. We also walked around Enchantment/Waterfront park which has trail entrances close to the back of the hotel. Our dog felt very welcomed. Next time I will probably request one of the ground floor rooms with an outside door which would be so convenient for taking the dog out. It was very quiet - we enjoyed sitting on the balcony taking in the view. Can't wait to be back! read more

AVOID AT BLUE ELK INN AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY ARE LIARS! Wasn't told a checkout time. Arrived mere minutes after 11am to drop off key to an unfriendly front desk who said they'd charge a fee we were never explained. I plan to file a small claims claim as a great reason to come back to Leavenworth. If you're going to be this strict with your policy then you should make sure people are made aware of it when they check in. Not telling people when they check in and then charging them and acting unfriendly on the back side is nothing but horrible service. Do better! Update: I read their response it is clear not only are they a bad spot to go to (tried to blame me evidencing the truth in everything outlined above)--but they are also liars. I came down by 11:15 not after 12:00 as they claimed. LIARS! read more

I can't stress enough how dog friendly the Blue Elk Inn is compared with others. You will find plenty of dogs all around the grounds, so if you're not into taking your best friend on a trip with you, you might want to look elsewhere. In general Leavenworth itself is very dog friendly. Wherever we walked, including on Front Street, we saw many dog owners out with their pups. My GSD was in dog heaven! We even met another dog owner in town, whose kids were so sad, because they felt they couldn't take their dog on the trip with them. I recommended they consider the Blue Elk Inn for their next visit to Levenworth. They seemed ecstatic to learn of such a dog friendly hotel and one without dog weight limits, as their dog was large like our German Shepherd. I also showed them a pic of the dog friendly package left on our bed, which included a dog blanket (for your pet to lay on your bed), a paw cleaning towel and dog treats. The front desk also had a dog treat & poop bags display. I've never seen such a dog friendly hotel and where each and every available room was also dog friendly! We stayed in the Superior King with Patio, which includes a private entry and gas fire pit. This particular accommodation is extremely convenient for potty breaks, rather than those rooms inside the Inn or on the 2nd floor, especially for those late night potty breaks. Plus, since the patio is fenced in, it allows your pup an area to roam off leash. It's also nice for those that might have loud pups, when left alone, while you're out eating or enjoying the pool, jacuzzi or sauna. The patio rooms are close to your parked vehicle, so that's another plus, if that option is necessary. The wonderful breakfast, which is included, was also a very welcomed hit each morning. This is not a Continental Breakfast, it's a full on breakfast, which rotated daily. I've never stayed at a place that was so dog friendly and will definitely stay at the Blue Elk Inn again on our next visit to Leavenworth! read more

We only stayed one night but it was a very enjoyable experience. Really enjoyed the enclosed patio with the fire pit. Perfect for us and our pup to enjoy. Tons of channels to watch! Room was quiet and clean with a mini fridge and coffee maker. Breakfast wasn't a ton of options but what they had was well done and well stocked. It's a beautiful building with thoughtful decor throughout. For some reason I thought it was closer to the main area of Leavenworth but it's actually not that close. But it was fine, we drove and there was plenty of parking both on main street and at the inn. Would definitely stay again! read more

We were very pleased with the quiet peaceful location. Clean rooms, wonderful hot breakfast served until 10am. The staff was very helpful and courteous, front desk lady told us where to park free for 3 hrs downtown (next to the City offices). Exceeded my expectations completely! The whole ground / rooms seem newly remodeled. We got the two bedroom suite (was around $1100 for two nights) and it was large, spacious, and very clean. Such a cozy fireplace too! Pool / hot tub seemed sort of summer camp-ish but they were clean. We didn't use the saunas but they looked awesome. Breakfast was obviously homemade and delicious. Chorizo breakfast tacos one day, and fluffy biscuits and gravy the other. Staff was very accommodating. I love how blatantly dog friendly the place was too. read more

Really lovely hotel, lots of parking, and within walking distance to downtown. My room was on the second floor - very comfortable and beautiful artwork on the walls. Bathroom was clean, and had dispensers for hand soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner instead of individual sets for each guest. Instead of key cards, you get an actual physical set of keys to your room - one to open your hotel room and another to open the front door after the staff locks it at 8:30pm. There are no staff around overnight, but there are instructions in the room if you need to get in touch with someone after hours. I enjoyed the hot breakfast they provided - very tasty and the staff was on top of refilling the food and keeping the area clean. A very nice 3-star place to stay (with 5 being like a luxury hotel.) They definitely go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. The price per night is definitely on the higher side - probably the upper limit of what I'd pay anywhere during the summer. The only issue is that if you're in one of the rooms on the south side, you will hear some faint screaming of people riding the roller coaster ride once in awhile! Some of the hotels in this area are very old, this is a newer one and therefore more popular. They serve a very good breakfast - maybe they could consider adding a couple more cereals, they only had one sugary one that they offered. But - it's included in the price of the room, so at least you don't have to go somewhere and pay a fortune for breakfast. read more

We booked through travelzoo which included a bottle of prosecco and a box of chocolates. They weren't in our room even though we talked about travelzoo on check in so I had to ask. Then our tv was broken and wouldn't connect to any streaming apps. They gave us a $20 discount. A working tv shouldn't be much to ask this day and age. They asked at check in what time we would be there for breakfast. We chose 7:30 which was one of their options. Both days we went to breakfast the doors to the main lodge were locked and we had to knock at the door or sneak through the kitchen just to get to breakfast. They didn't seem interested at all to try to help us enjoy our stay. Would not stay again. read more

Me and my Golden Retrievers loved it here. The enclosed patio entrance was definitely a rare dog-friendly amenity. The hot tub was nice and bubbly. Make sure to book a time slot if you want to use one of the saunas. Breakfast was upper tier for continental style and had different options each day. We stayed one night here on 4/10/25 and our dog got terribly sick from a toxin in the room or on the grounds. She was fully healthy but got sick in the middle of the night and threw up in the room. We tried everything to save her but she went into anaphylactic shock. It was so severe and the vets could not save her. We lost her on 4/13. She was only 3.5 yrs old. The hotel refuses to acknowledge what happened. If you plan on going here with your dog, don't do it. Our hearts are broken. read more

A cute hotel just outside of the main drag. Parking is right in front, so we could easily see our van from our window...as well as a pretty mountain. Check-in was easy and casual...the place definitely has a small business feel. We walked through the park to downtown and to our end of the strip to the closest restaurants. It's a bit of a haul no matter your destination, but was better than getting back in the car. The room was nice, updated and very clean with the exception of dust buildup on the chairs. The mattress was a bit soft for me, but not too bad. It seemed the entire customer base wanted breakfast right when they started serving so it was a bit crowded. Breakfast was prepped to be hot and ready right on time...not the best hot breakfast I've had at a hotel, but certainly not bad. There is no staff on site overnight, so if you leave early you leave your key. Overall a great place to stay if you like quiet and don't want to be right in the busy zone. read more

Ground around the hotel is amazing with beautiful native plants. Leavenworth has a good variety of plants but the ones here seemed planed with love and care. The local vegan soaps and lotion in the bathroom was amazing. You can really tell care was put into the details here. I am so glad my husband and I stayed here! I booked it last minute and I am so glad we stayed here. The view from up here was so beautiful, we were in room 301, it was perfect, we saw snow from our bed, it was cold but so beautiful. This Inn is so beautiful and cozy! The lobby is beautifully decorated and they have good breakfast. However I have to mention that they serve last set of breakfast by 9:30 so you have to tell them what time you're going to eat, so we got there at 9:15 but they did not refill the food by 9:30 which is the last time they fill the breakfast trays before closing. My husband and I used the lounge at night to eat there. They have hot chocolate, hot water, and regular cold water, tea. Microwave is in the lobby as well. I thought it was good to be able to use it. This Inn has a jaccuzi and sauna room, however it would be nice to have long robes to use despite having the towels, regardless, I would still recommend this hotel. thanks for the great experience. one thing we could see from the hotel room is the adventure park that has the ride, must try! read more

Stayed here a few weekends ago. Rooms were great. The community spaces were really great. It was a hot weekend so we drove in to the restaurants, but on a cooler weekend, you could easily have had an enjoyable walk. We will plan on staying here again in the future. read more

My mom and I stayed one night while seeing friends in the area. We had a two bedroom room that had a great view of the mountains and charming decor (with a fireplace). We have stayed at the Blue Elk quite a few times over the years. Love that it is dog friendly . Always clean. Has been remodeled within last couple of years. Pool, sauna, etc. Close enough to walk into town, yet far enough that it's quiet and there is plenty of parking. Don't sleep on the larger rooms. I didn't know that they existed - but they have 2 and 3 bedroom rooms with large living area, 2 + full bathrooms; etc. Way cleaner and often more affordable than an Airbnb condo IMO. And they don't expect you to clean the place and be out by 9 am either ! :) We recently bought a place in Plain/Leavenworth, so won't get to stay here as often anymore. I will continue to recommend to friends and family in the area. It's a hidden gem in Leavenworth! read more

Stayed here for my birthday weekend and it was just beautiful! You are not in downtown Leavenworth but just .5 miles away and and easy walk through the backyard and the recommended back way the staff gave us. While I originally wanted to stay downtown and around all the festivities it was really nice being a bit out of the crowds and in a peaceful surrounding after all the hustle and bustle of the Bavarian Market. We got one of the rooms with a fireplace and Jacuzzi and it was well worth the extra $'s. The room itself was decorated for Christmas and so cozy- even had our own balcony (we shared with another couple but never saw them out when we were). The staff is very helpful. We had 2 *minor* complaints. They make breakfast for everyone staying at the Inn and one of the days there was no meat what-so-ever with the meal (apparently a very important item for meat eaters) and the second thing was they billed my credit card the day we checked in- not the day we checked out like most hotels. Not a deal breaker. Just an oddity. If we come back I will stay here again and recommend it to everyone! read more

Sometimes it's the little things. The Blue Elk has a fish- sized shower head. No fighting for water to hot your back: just pleasant. Inside the shower is dispenser with wash, conditioner, and shampoo. No little bottles with itty-bitty product. No needless extra waste. They also promote local business by using Ginger Lily Botanicals for the shower and the wash basin soap and lotion. Nice and not too fragrant. A whisper, if you will. Outside is a pool and sauna (reservation required for the sauna) and a kids tree house with a table and chairs. The landscape is peaceful and green, well done, and not typical (more of a PNW vibe). Paintings and photos throughout with a little blue elk. Breakfast in the morning (please tip the staff) is not too large, but maybe it's too keep waste down. Again, it's a PNW idea. The inn is at the end of cul-de-sac, so street noise is very minimal. An opening in the back pool area goes towards the riverside walk, businesses are close. It was a pleasure. read more

My family recently stayed at the Blue Elk Inn and it was fantastic! Our room was huge and very quiet. We brought our 2 dogs with us, and I don't think I've experienced a more dog-friendly hotel. The free daily breakfast was excellent and there were several nice, quiet areas..including a section of Adirondack chairs outside the lobby. We stayed at a different property last year and will definitely choose Blue Elk for our visit next year! read more

We love this place! Hubby and I stayed here a few weeks ago and was impressed. We never wanted to stay here before, before the new owners and the complete remodel. Loved it so much we brought the kids this time! Modern rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, decked out bathroom with shampoo/conditioner/shower gel. Pool is very nice, and clean! Hope to try the hot tub tomorrow night. They are working on making the pool area more like a resort, with cabanas. Next to the pool is a good sized lush grassy area with cornhole, horseshoes, fire pit, and TWO saunas to reserve. Plenty of room to throw the frisbee or football with the kids. Breakfast in the mornings are full and have variety. No continental shenanigans here. They have motorized bikes for rent/ borrow. Haven't tried them yet, but they look nice and hefty. Staff is courteous and genuine. We haven't brought our dog yet, but they are quite pet friendly, and not just the kind that only takes the pet fee. They must be pet people themselves, as they accept them as family members too. So staying here again, and again, and again! read more

The charm of this Inn is contagious. I cannot say enough good things about this location! The staff was warm, informative, kind and so accommodating. The room was large, comfortable, well appointed and unbelievably charming. The breakfast each day was wonderful. The beds were cozy, warm and so comfortable. The bathroom was so clean and spacious. The Inn makes you feel like you're in a friends home. It's absolutely perfect. And you MUST check out the birdhouse in the back yard. It looks JUST like the Inn, just another precious addition to the ambiance of the place. We were there for 5 nights and I can honestly say not ONE THING was anything less than perfect. 10 out of 10! We will be back! OH! And we had our pup with us, and being on the first floor made middle of the night potty outings so easy. I was with my mother, so when she had the TV on the volume was, well, too loud. I stepped out of the room to see if it was too loud for our neighbors and once I closed the door, I couldn't even hear it! In conclusion, the rooms were warm, quiet, quaint, plentiful and comfortable. The staff was friendly and generous. The breakfast was different daily and so good. This place has changed - for the worse - under the new ownership. My family and I used to love staying here in their two or three bedroom units. Warning: these units are not the same, and if you have stayed here before, don't expect it to be like you remember. Our frustration started at check in. We stopped by around 11:30, early we know, but the friendly man at the desk said he would expedite housekeeping on our room number and we were welcome to come wait in the lobby or go in to town to have lunch and come back. We went in to town, taking our time and returned at 2:30. The friendly man was gone. In his place, was an employee - who said the room was not ready and should be ready by 4pm. It was snowing and cold and we had a car full of kids and dogs. When we inquired about the nice man expediting the cleaning, she blankly said he's not here now and room should be ready by 4. This lady had terrible, apathetic customer service. During this exchange where we were clearly unhappy, there was a woman hiding her face and avoiding eye contact in the office (manager? Owner?) At 315, housekeeping finally started cleaning our room (after someone in our party poked their head into their break room and kindly asked if they would be cleaning our specific room number soon). Once we finally got access to our room, we unloaded all of our stuff - including all of our groceries that we had packed to make use of the full kitchen. To our shock, although they have a full size kitchen, they made the decision to remove the oven/stove from the kitchen. It now consists of a full fridge, a microwave, a single burner that plugs into the wall, and lots of counter space. We went back to the same apathetic woman at the counter to express our concern. She blankly looked at us and said oh yeah, all the ranges have been removed in every single unit. What?? Their large units are set up like apartments and advertised with full kitchens - pictures are still on their website featuring these amenities as of today. The woman at the counter clearly didn't give a S***. We asked to see the manager or owner, and she said they were not here, they just come and go. We asked her to pass on the message that we are pissed and would like to talk to them as soon as possible. Still haven't heard from them... Since then, we have spent one night in the room and found - garbage tucked into the couch cushions, pet stains on the carpet, no extra bedding, and no fold out couch as advertised - which means some of our party had to sleep on the floor with their own blankets thankfully they had. Another thing we used to like about this place were the outdoor fire pits in the snow, which they apparently "aren't doing now". Needless to say, we will not be staying here again. This is no longer the perfect family friendly unit to stay with a full kitchen to cook all of our meals in the room. And their customer service is horrible - absent ownership/management, uncaring employees - except for housekeeping, thank you!, and changes to the units that don't make sense. read more

Newish ownership and revamped/remodel rooms! We took a very long road trip (over 24 hours of drive time) and this was a stop along the way! We arrived right as the snow started to fall heavily at about 8pm for a late check in. I communicated with the front desk on our ETA and the graciously kept an eye out for our arrival. We got a room with a lovely fireplace facing the front of the property in the main building and we loved it. My partner, myself and our two year old got so cozy while the snow outside fell and started to pile up. The room featured a full bath, vanity area, plenty of closet space, a king bed, sitting area, mini fridge and Kurig coffee maker. Due to covid, the continental breakfast has been converted to a boxed delivery breakfast, which was much appreciated and felt safe. We woke up to a foot of new snow! Delightful! The property was clean, social distancing was enforced and we liked the slightly out of town location. We didn't take advantage of any other property amenities other than our room, but we'd love to book it again in the summer! If you're up for a wintery wonderland stroll, there is a trail that rounds back through into downtown that is pleasant and not a super long trek. The room was great, no complaints at all. Very clean, comfortable bed, and overall a very cozy vibe. The lobby was beautifully decorated and the hotel in general was very homey and sweet. The front desk staff, on the other hand, not very friendly. Maybe they were having a bad couple of days. They didn't welcome us when we arrived. I had to go up to the desk and greet them. Nobody offered to help with luggage. I had my arms full with a car seat and luggage, and the ladies at the desk just sat there watching me. No one asked if I needed help. Same goes for my husband. He was bringing the luggage cart back from the parking lot and trying to open the door while also holding our toddler and the ladies at the front just sat there watching him. I feel like they could have gotten the door for him, no? And when we left, they didn't even look up! There were no other customers at the desk they were just not friendly. I had to say thank you twice to them for them to acknowledge us leaving. Hospitality is important to me because I'm paying a pretty penny to stay at your hotel. I just got a cold vibe from them- pun intended (since it was cold outside, get it?) anyway, breakfast was complimentary but still would have chosen to go out for that since it was not appetizing in the slightest. My husband and I wanted an escape from being in our house for so long. We had an amazing stay. The hotel was extremely clean, the breakfast meal kits were amazing and plentiful. We had coffee in the morning using the keurig. The room was so quiet and we could bring our pup. We didn't take advantage of the pool or any other amenities. I have been very cautious about Covid-19 and I felt so safe here. I will definitely plan on staying here everytime I come to Leavenworth. I have already recommended friends to stay here. This was one of the only places in town with two nights available at the last minute over presidents weekend. I booked with some trepidation after reading some of the negative reviews. Overall, we had a great stay, and I'd stay here again. Positives: Beautiful common area that is perfect for hanging out to read, play games, enjoy a bottle of wine, etc-- loved the cozy fireplace and could see spending some time on the deck in the summer. The staff are super helpful and friendly and the front desk happily provided a wine opener & glasses. We had no concerns about proximity town. It's an easy walk to town along a well lit, sidewalk. We ate dinner at South one night, which is the complete other side of town and I think it took about 10 minutes to walk there. Although we did not partake, I think the included breakfast and dessert are a really nice touch. I couldn't give 5 stars for a couple of pretty nit-picky reasons. First, the rooms on the main level (there are two) have really thin walls. We weren't disturbed by the lobby noises but you get a lot of noise from the next room over. Our neighbors were not particularly noisy but their voices carried. I am sure they did not appreciate our 5am wake-up time to go skiing either. Although clean-- the rooms were dated. Given then awesome update to the lobby, hopefully the rooms are on their list. I can't say whether this is persistent problem throughout the property. As we were just looking for a place to crash between ski days, it more than met our needs and was an upgrade from the typical ski-area lodging. The one other thing I would say is it would be great if they extended their hours a touch. We drove up friday night after work and arrived about 8:30. They called us at 8 wondering where we were. The hot tub closes at 9, which meant we didn't take advantage because we wanted to hang out in town a little bit on Saturday night. Conversely breakfast isn't served until fairly late in the morning and no one is at the front desk until 7:30 am. As a couple with no kids, it would have been really nice to have some time in the hot-tub after the families went to sleep and hot coffee on our way out to ski in the AM would have been appreciated.
