Cash Canada is going through some name change, I think it was originally called Collateral Advantage but now it is called Cash Canada. From what I saw it is a good thing they changed their name because I didn't see any advantages of buying anything in their pawn shop except for maybe DVD's at 3 bucks. Although the store is extremely well laid out and super clean, I found tons of stuff to be overpriced and in not so good condition. I think a person would find better deals on Kijiji and Craigslist and items that are in much better condition. The folks there are extremely friendly however and there were a lots of people browsing through the store or perhaps waiting to pawn things. This is not my top pick for a Pawn shop in Calgary but perhaps they buy things at top dollar. read more

This review is for the pay day loan side of this business and not the retail side. AVOID this place at all costs. go across the lot to cash money. Cash canada sneaks in hidden charges, the ladies in the office don't tell you about extra fees, charges etc. She asked for a bank statement from me online and allowed me to use her computer at which point she grabbed it and printed out a preauthorized debit form without my consent assuring me they would not process automatic payments. I decided to drunkenly stumble into this store since it is so close to home and I've never been before. There aren't a heck of a lot of things to choose from, but they have some good deals on their games. BLAKE WANTS TO PLAY WRESTLING GAMES WHEN DRUNK! I was able to find one for a very reasonable $3. Side note : While I was in line, I was talking to a rather interesting fellow who was complaining that his wife was going to be the death of him if she made him get rid of anymore of his 'toys' (tools) I simply needed to remind him that wives live longer than their husbands because they're not married to women *boom boom ching* The short wait to buy the nifty game brought me to a very friendly group of staff. Smiling and engaging, these folks were able to answer a question I had, quickly rung up my purchase and off I went with a smile on my face ready to nerd out for the night. My name is Jackie and I have been dealing with the cash Canada on 46 Ave and Macleod trail since 2004! For the most part they have been good to me !!! Yes I do agree when first dealing with the staff there , they are very friendly and very pleasant to deal with. Until you catch them fucking you over!!! A few years back I brought a gold chain with them on layaway!! Thick gold men's chain for 1200.00 Once I brought the chain home about a week later the chain started to fade! Anyone who knows gold knows it does not fade ever!!!! For any reason!!! Very upset I called the store and they told me to bring the gain back. Once I got it to the store they retested it and said it was real! I told them it is not! (When you do the acid test with gold, it's suppose to have a 3D affect and this chain didn't do that!)I told them I'm taking it to the jewelry store to have it tested ! I took it to a jewelry store that at the time was the only place in Calgary that has a10,000.00 dollar machine that tells u exactly what it is made of. And he did the test right in front of me , there was no gold in that chain at all!!!! Upon returning to the store I told them and the said I would have to wait for the store manager! So I leave I call the head office and register my complaint! Of course I couldn't reach the area manager Dan for cash Canada! After that I went to the registries and got a print out of who owns cash Canada and civil court papers! I was gonna sue these crooks! When I went back the next day the store manager was there , I put my papers on the counter so he could see! And wow all of a sudden they gave me a full refund!!! Now last week I went in to pawn some gold. I got 1100.00 and before I left I made sure to ask the guy , if I take it out tommorrow it's a interest free loan! He said yes I said ok. So I go in the next day to get my jewelry out and they tell me I have to pay 1400.00 plus. I said what do you mean!?! It's interest free if it's only a24 hour loan. The lady says no it's only loans under 250.00 I said since when!! I pawn a lot in the past at interest free! She said we chained the limit! I said well why didn't the employee tell me, that! I asked to talk to the manger and after he talked to Dan the area manger he said all they could do was discount half the interest! I was still not happy. So after trying to call head office and the reception being rude them not taking my calls! I got frustrated! She didn't answer my calls until I called from another number and ask to speak to her supervisor !!! Then she changed her tone and attude!! Today Dan finally calls me and had every excuse in the book!!! Telling me I didn't buy a fake gold chain!!! I still have my payment slips from back then! I told him he must be looking at the wrong file! He said no!! Then he tells me that he looked at the tapes and the employee and I never talked about the 24 hour loan!! Obviously he didn't look at the full tape!!! I figured I was wasting my time and swore and hung up!! So from my personal experience of dealing with this store for 12 years! They always seem to have a sale going on here. With different items on sale on differesnt days. I saw a few $100 DVD players here. But even at half price, I think you can get one for $20 at Walmart. They were very friendly and told me all prices were negotiable. Why not just correctly price stuff in the first place? Still worth a look as there may be some gems in the mountains of stuff(did'nt want to call it Junk) here. read more

I was so impressed with Cash Canada. My bike was stolen last month and I thought I'd never see it again. Cash Canada checked the serial number of my bike when it was brought in and found out that it had been stolen. They had it returned to me immediately. I was so impressed with how kind and friendly the staff were and how neat and tidy the store looked when I picked up my bike. Thanks so much! I visited here and was immediately mobbed when I got through the door. Everything was on sale and negotiable I was told. I looked for a cordless drill for my husband and found only very old and dirty ones. They even had a very old tv here for sale for $29 Who wants an old tube tv? I have one in the garage. Maybe I can sell it here. I thought it was weird that they have no jewelry for sale. I like to look at gold and saw none. They have a lot of old stuff here. read more

I like the hours - most every other place in Calgary is closed by 5pm, and weekends... Everything in Calgary is closed weekends... so lame. But this place does offer great service, though as some have said, there are some pretty dated items. Which is pretty cool - retro tech is good, and in a few years people will be clammering for them. The staff are friendly, and easy to talk to - with helpful suggestions. It is close to a train station, so finding here is easy and going through what they have is a good way to spend while waiting for the line to thin out. Yuup! read more
