Breadeaux Pizza - Cheese Pizza (La Petite) with Canadian bacon and they said it was dairy free cheese. It was good though the crust was nothing exciting.

I definitely recommend this pizza. We thought it was very tasty - we got the Hawaiian, hand tossed,…read moreand it was delicious. They even have dairy free cheese for the dairy allergies. The only reason I had to take a star is that we cannot recommend dining in and want to give that heads up to fellow travelers. We were stopping through town on our way to see family and thought it would be easier to dine in with our toddler than taking it back to our air b n b. It was small but there were a handful of tables set up for dining in so we thought it would work ok. But when we came in and asked about dining in we were given a bugged-eyed look and they echoed, "dine in?!" But they said sure and pick a seat. It takes a bit to make me uncomfortable and doubt a person but this was not welcoming. We sat down and when our 2 year old wanted our menu, we asked for a second one and got an attitude from the same person again. At that point I threw in the towel. I can't enjoy my meal with someone questioning every single thing we did or said, especially with an unpredictable toddler. So we put in our order and left. My husband had to go back to get it. So just a fair warning to other families to be prepared for a possibly awkward dine-in experience. They also do not have high chairs - they do have booster seats but they do not buckle down. We for sure would order here again but would plan to carry-out only.

Pagliai's Pizza - Champagne cake was tasty!!

We'd heard of this pizza spot since we arrived to Grinnell, so naturally we had to try it…read more Immediately greeted as we walked in the door and loved that we could see all the chefs in the kitchen right then and there. It was busy but not so much that we didn't get sat right away. Our server was also busy so someone else took our drink order - and then gave us menus. We ended up ordering the meatballs, a salad, and a classic pie, and walked out also with a cool vintage looking Pagliai's tee! The meatballs were large, came with two, and really flavorful. The sauce was classic tomato but not basic, you could taste the aromatics and that was so good. Basic salad but really delicious runny ranch to go with it, which I loved. I dipped the crust from my pizza in it and it was just so good! For the pie we split it in half - half with meats and the other half with special. The crust was thin and also seasoned nicely and couldn't say enough about how delicious the cheese was. It was so gooey and thick - it made the pizza so incredibly good. Besides our server taking us on due to the prior one being too busy, the vibes inside were chill and casual, music was good and the atmosphere was pleasant. Everyone behind the pizza counter had smiles and acknowledged you. Was a real delight. Everywhere in Grinnell folks rave about Pagliai's and we understand why. We'll definitely have to come back!

But rather plain- sausage was just pork it seemed. Next time we'll go back to the house special! But wait! Based on another review, I ordered a piece of champagne cake! It was light and tasty and a great way to end the meal.

BIT Brewery - Shrimp scampi pizza

What a cute little spot! I made the quick drive from Marion to meet a friend and see our buddy…read moreshred some tunes on a Thursday night (and I noticed a few other solid musicians on their upcoming schedule!) This is a really cool older building and I think there's a lot of potential for it to be a really neat gathering space as the brewery matures. It looks like they opened in 2020, so I'd love to see how they settle in and "find their voice" more, if you will. Not being much of a drinker, I had perused the menu ahead of time and thought I might try their ciders and sours. They offer flights in 3 or 6, but it doesn't change the price. (I always thought that was the idea behind a flight, like bundle and save lol.) I tried Bauer Sour, Coyote Verde, and A Little Prickly in the flight and a sip of the Kellyfish that my friend ordered. I was surprised that I liked all four, but my fave by far was the Coyote Verde. The prickly cider was much sweeter than I expected, reminding me of jolly rancher more than prickly pear, which was a little bit of a bummer for me because I expected to like it more. Bauer and Kellyfish were more subtle and refreshing, leaning more towards a beer-y taste than the other two. I also happen to be something of a pizza snob, so I'm always hesitant to try it at a brewery, especially now that wood-fired is so popular. While it wasn't my favorite ever, it wasn't bad. I stuck with a margherita because that's my usual gauge for new places. If/when I come back, I'd try the (blasphemous/Iowa famous) taco pizza that sounded oddly satisfying at the time. I got too comfortable though and ordered a dessert Nutella pizza...only to be disappointed when it came out covered in marshmallow. I should've clarified topping options for their desserts before diving in. My friend ordered the Sweetopia cheesecake and said it was delicious. Overall, a decent experience but not great. A solid case for half stars because 3 feels too low and 4 feels a bit too high. Cool small town spot and big points for live music from some of the best musicians in the area. I look forward to watching BIT Brewery grow!

A neat little brewery located in a small town in an older building that I'm happy to say they've kept the ambiance of. They have a wood fire pizza oven and the pizza is very good. The menu is small but ample, but keep in mind it is in a small town and I xan understand not wanting to have a huge inventory to go bad. I was here when they first opened which was during the pandemic and the beers weren't great but we marked it up to having their opening delayed for numerous pandemic reasons. However, im happy to say they've now found their stride and the beers are solid. Definitely worth a drive to try it out!
