Rosarito's - Three carne asada tacos

    Rosarito's

My husband and I were spending the night at his family's farm about 20 mins from Syracuse, and food…read moreoptions are slim in this area. We decided to give Rosarito's a try. The location definitely is no frills. I called in our order and picked it up at the window, and I don't think I'd choose to eat inside. We each had a burrito and split and order of chips and guacamole. The guac came in a large container and tasted homemade. The chips had a great crunch but could be improved with some flaky sea salt or lime. The burritos were both decent, but certainly on the small side. There are no sides that come with this, such as rice and beans. Overall, this was a decent meal choice for the evening, but I'm uncertain as to whether or not we would return.

It wasn't the typical meal time, so there weren't any cars, but the OPEN sign was lit up and we could see someone inside. The outside of the building left us questioning if we should stop, but man are we glad we did!! The owner (I'm assuming) greeted us and was so friendly! The menu was written on a white board and we spent a bit trying to decide. We went with the carnitas burrito and carne asada tacos (x2). We also decided to add on chips and salsa, which were $3.50 on the menu, but the owner wouldn't charge us and said they were on the house! Pleasantly surprised as the came out toasty hot! The food was AMAZING! Meat was tender and flavorful. The tacos had guacamole on them...holy cow were they good! The chips came with a red salsa (mild) and while my husband was eating his burrito the Owen asked if he wanted something hotter. He did and the guy came back with a delicious salsa that he makes himself out of roasted vegetables. It was the perfect amount of heat and flavor. Great food, great price, friendly staff. Hope we make it back again someday!

The servers are nice but definitely have that slow town feel where they talk to customer for quite a while. Given it's a serve yourself buffet, I can't complain. The place itself was part Val's family portraits and part Huskers. Seems about right for Nebraska. It was cozy and inviting. They had plenty of options and all the favs here. And if anything was low or sat for too long, they are more than happy to refresh. I really liked the dessert options that I never get when ordering to-go. The prices were actually surprisingly reasonable. And to top it off, kids under 10 eat free on Tuesdays. Not a place you can eat too often and maintain your figure, but we will be back!

Okay, so this is the best place to stop in Nebraska City that has gluten free options, hands down…read more The Taco Bell has terrible reviews. Runza only has gluten free fries and we just made the decision to try out Valentinos and see if it's still good since my husband had it growing up. This is a buffet style restaurant, even though you can order your own gf pizza, but we ordered it for the Buffett and they bring it to you to get as many pieces as you want before they put it on the buffet for others to eat. Soooo nice!!! We got a meat lovers gf pizza and it was surprisingly yummy!!!! We enjoyed the salad, the small town, and we had the nicest waitress!!! She explained our options for gf. We are not buffet fans but we had a lovely time and if we are traveling through Nebraska City again, this is the only place we will stop. (There is a cute cafe in Auburn NE that is with a stop)
