4th St. Pizza - Incredible pizza!

Went during lunch time on a Friday and took advantage of their lunch specials. Their pizza dough was airy and crispy, their mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce were very flavorful. Had a salad with their homemade lemon poppyseed dressing that was really good. If I lived here, this would be a place I would go back to often.

I have mixed feelings about this place because it started out very frustrating, with parking, a small waiting area, and a cranky host. It ended on a good note, however. I'll start off by saying that parking was really frustrating, because we had to drive around the block several times before we were able to find something that opened up. I realize that many businesses share this street, and want to point out that this is not the fault of 4th Street Pizza. Inside, it was very crowded with many people waiting. The area is so small that it wasn't easy to open the door. Once we got in, it took about 10 minutes for someone to take our name for the waiting list. She was very cranky, but later I would come to understand why. We were told of a 45-minute wait and that we could wait outside if we liked, where they would call our name when ready. We waited on a bench and saw a lot of people come and go who got there after us. Thankfully, my fiancé asked them about it, and they seated us right away. I think they forgot about us. Once we were seated, the service was very slow to start. Our appetizer got there in a decent amount of time, but the pizza took forever, and our drinks sat empty. Once the pizza arrived, it was huge and tasted great! Are drinks continuing to sit empty? Normally, my rating would be low for a situation like this, but then I realized that our server was working all the tables in there and had only one bus person for help! I can see why the server was cranky. I would have been too if I were the only server at a busy restaurant during rush hour. This entire restaurant had only one restroom that looked like it had not been cleaned since the Bicentennial. Again, it is probably a staffing issue. We would definitely go again to experience the pizza.

Located right on the iconic Main Street USA, we were warmly greeted with attentive and kind staff, delicious food, and great company. The comfortable environment and ambiance of Marceline Pizza Company brought a bunch of hungry "out-of-towners," each visiting Marceline for various reasons, together shifting us from strangers to friends while bonding over a tasty meal. Definitely a memorable first time visit to this establishment. Marceline Pizza Company occupies a cozy establishment serving various types of pizzas such as woodfire neapolitan, Chicago deep dish, and a cauliflower crust option. Their menu also boasts other types of Italian dishes. Our order consisted of a - Neapolitan pizza with pepperoni and pineapple - Meatball Grinder Everything was phenomenal. The pizza was cooked to perfection with the best and quality ingredients. The crust on the pizza was to die for. The meatballs in the Meatball Grinder were also delicious. My husband said they were just as good as the ones back home in New York - a high compliment coming from him. I would recommend any of these items if you're considering them. The Marceline Pizza Company made a strong first impression and contributed to a memorable visit to Marceline overall.

He was interested in the description of "wood fired pizza". So we went to taste it. What I didn't know in advance, but what he explained on the way to Marceline is this is also the birthplace of Walt Disney. And when Disney was creating Disneyland in California, and designing Main Street USA, he was using Marceline as his blueprint. So the town is very picturesque and has had a relationship with the Disney family who contributed to upkeep and updates. There are a lot of things to see and enjoy. We were greeted cheerfully and had our beverages quickly. I ordered the hot beef sandwich with giardiniera on the side and my nephew ordered a pepperoni pizza. Because I am from Chicago I had an immediate expectation of what we were going to get. The pizza was very similar to my favorite pizza in Chicago, which is also the Pope's favorite. My roast beef started out tasting a little bland, and I put it little of the Au Jus on the meat. It tasted very good and it definitely had a spicy flavor in addition to the beef. The bun seemed to be a focaccia bun that had a crusty top, so it was crunchy on the outside and soft and tasty inside. There was a pasta salad on the side. I suggest it would taste better in a different serving dish, because it was in something like a shot glass and the pasta on top was bland, but became more delicious as I dug down to the vegetables and dressing.

The pizza is thin with crispy-chewy crust, living up to its New York style reputation. The meatball sub I ordered was quite hefty and had great flavor and texture. A kind lady at the Winston Churchill Museum suggested we try it, and I'm so glad she did! She also mentioned that their Tiramisu is house made and delicious!! We started with the chicken parmigiana appetizer, which was really tasty. Chicken was fried to perfection and the tomato sauce wasn't overpowering.. just the right taste! For the main course, we went with the Missouri Pie, which had a unique blend of minced pork and beef. I'd never had a combo like that on pizza before, and I really enjoyed it. The crust was thin and flaky, baked well, and the meat gave it a rich and hearty flavor. I added Parmesan, chili flakes, and oregano, which elevated the taste of the pizza for sure. Since it was a Sunday afternoon, the place was buzzing with people and everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. It's such a fun and refreshing addition to the quiet, history-filled town of Fulton. Definitely worth a stop after visiting the nearby Berlin Wall, Museum and Christopher Wren church!
