If you're from Cali, you probably think you've had Chicago-style pizza because you've seen a…read moredeep-dish pie or two, right??? Yeah... I thought that too!!! Turns out, I was very wrong!! So wrong!! A REAL Chicago pizza is basically a full-blown cheese & toppings filled pie with a thick bottom crust, generous amount of cheese and the sauce piled on top like the grand finale. We stopped at Giordano's in Gurnee and ordered a 14-inch build-your-own w beef, mushrooms, and onions. "Large" apparently means "feeds a small village" because this thing was massive, easily enough for a family of 5!!! Every slice came with that dramatic, slow-motion cheese pulls that make everyone at the table stop talking and start taking pictures!!! The ingredients tasted fresh, the cheese was gloriously gooey, and each slice was hearty enough to qualify as a meal and a half. We also grabbed the mozzarella triangles and buffalo wings bc apparently self-control wasn't invited to dinner. The mozzarella triangles were crispy, cheesy little pockets of happiness, and the wings brought just the right amount of buffalo kick. Both were absolutely delicious and disappeared way faster than they should have. The service was fantastic too!! Drinks never stayed empty for long, and the staff was attentive throughout the meal. We walked out stuffed, happy, and officially educated on what REAL Chi-town pizza is supposed to be!! If you're visiting Chicago, Giordano's is absolutely a must!!!

I hadn't had Giordano's since 2009, and while the pizza still tastes largely the same, I remember…read moreit being better back then. That may just be my palate changing over the years, but I'm giving it a higher rating overall because the majority of my family enjoyed it, and for most of them, this was their first experience with Chicago deep-dish pizza. Pro tip: If you're planning to treat your sailor here after PIR, come as soon as possible after graduation. The restaurant quickly fills up with sailors and their families, which can lead to longer wait times and slower service - and time during Liberty is very limited.

Great flavor, perfectly balanced toppings, and definitely something I'd order again. We also tried the wings. I'd probably skip those next time. The sauce was just okay, and the wings themselves weren't as crispy as you'd expect. They tasted more like frozen wings than fresh. If that doesn't bother you, you might be fine -- but they didn't stand out. Our waiter was attentive, and the overall vibe is classic Quonset -- the smell of pizza in the air, cold beer, and friendly staff. Solid spot for pizza, just maybe not the wings.

I live near here and get a small cheese to go several times a month…read more I may not be there at peak times but for me it's always better to walk in and order and wait for it than to call ahead. Never timed it but it doesn't ever seem like a long wait and the product is a landmark of consistency. 12", $13.50 now. $4.50-$5.50 in the late 1970's. I've lived around here in stretches now and again for 50+ years and this place is always the same as it was when I was in high school. For a small, independent bar-pizza joint, that's really impressive. But this place deserves some kind of a plaque. The small cheese pizza these folks put out today is photo-level consistent with what they put out in 1970. Ordinarily I would accept that I may have a little wishful brain fog about the crust and the sauce and the cheese being identical but that's also what I see when I look at comments. So, I may pick one up this afternoon. What's described as the cracker style crust holds up pretty well but it's still best all-around when eaten in the store. Haven't eaten one while sitting at the bar right after it came out of the oven in a long time but if I order it when I get there, 1 diet Pepsi later I'm walking out the door. That's pretty close.

Toppers Pizza is a unique experience. They have so many different sauces/toppings for their pizzas…read morethat it almost seems like the combinations are endless. I ordered over the phone for pickup. The employee said it would be about 15 to 20 minutes. I arrive, and there is plenty of parking around as it is located in a strip. They have a few spaces reserved for curbside pick up also. I went inside it's a small place so it is only carry out options. The employee asked my name and got my to go order. I paid at the counter, and they have plates, napkins, red pepper flakes, and parmesean packets you can grab yourself. Now on to the food. I ordered a medium pizza with half their specialty Mac and cheese pizza and the other half the smoked bbq chicken pizza. One thing about toppers is I love that you can do half specialities it's a way to try more of their combos in one buy. They tend to have deals going on, so always be on the lookout for those. I loved both the flavors I got. The wings, on the other hand, were why I only gave 4 stars. I enjoyed the boom boom sauce it was tasty it was just the size of the wings for the price I paid that I couldn't get past. They redeemed themselves with their cinnamon Stix for dessert. The combo of cinnamon and icing were perfect, and if you needed more icing, they gave you some on the side to dip. Overall good experience next time I know to skip the wings.

The pizza was cooked exactly how I wanted and the wings had great flavor. I loved the packaging with the cows. Hopefully they open again one day.
