The lunch specials are very good and reasonably priced. Salads are fresh! The cookies are very rich! This pizza is unique to Columbia and does not fit the Greek or prolific writer mold. It is also way better than the national chains.

It's the kind of place that's perfect for grabbing dinner with friends or family and just enjoying some really good food. The wings are absolutely phenomenal. I've tried every flavor they offer, and my two favorites are easily the Buffalo and the Apple Bourbon. The Buffalo has an incredible buffalo flavor without being overly spicy, making it easy to enjoy even if you don't love heat. The Apple Bourbon is the complete opposite in the best way, bringing a subtle sweetness that makes for a great change of pace. The wings are always cooked to perfection with crispy skin and juicy meat, and they have a texture that I just can't seem to replicate at home. They're on the pricier side, but they're absolutely worth it. I've also tried both the Pepperoni Pizza and The Delicious, and both are outstanding. Sometimes a simple pepperoni pizza tells you everything you need to know about a pizza place, and Pappo's nails it. The homemade sauce, quality cheese, perfectly cooked crust, and seasoning all come together to make an exceptional pizza. The Delicious is exactly that, delicious. It's the pie contest winner for a reason. The combination of pesto sauce, shredded mozzarella, provolone, blackened chicken, caramelized onions, and fresh minced garlic creates one of the most flavorful pizzas I've had. Every ingredient tastes fresh, and you can really tell they don't cut corners on quality. I also have to mention the cookies because they are genuinely some of the best I've ever had. The fact that they're made with brown butter immediately sets them apart from your average chocolate chip cookie. They have the perfect outer structure, but the second you bite into one, the warm chocolate just oozes out. The brown butter adds a rich, nutty depth of flavor, and they're finished with just the right amount of flaky sea salt to balance the sweetness. Every bite is a literal party in your mouth. If you leave Pappo's without getting a cookie, you're seriously missing out. While Pappo's is definitely on the pricier side (which is why its 4 and not 5 stars), though I've never once left feeling like I didn't get my money's worth. The consistency, quality, service, and atmosphere keep me coming back, and it's easily one of my favorite pizza spots around.

Gumby's Pizza - Columbia, MO…read more I was working in Columbia last week when a few coworkers suggested we stop by Gumby's Pizza for lunch. Located downtown near the Mizzou campus, Gumby's is a well-known local spot that's popular with students and residents alike. As with most downtown areas, parking can be a bit of a challenge, so plan accordingly. At first glance, the restaurant looks small from the outside, but once you step inside, you'll find it surprisingly spacious. When you walk in, you're greeted by specials posted throughout the entrance area. We arrived right around noon and, to our surprise, we were the only group dining at that time. Orders are placed at the counter, where we were helped by a woman who was absolutely fantastic--friendly, patient, and accommodating, especially considering that several people in our group were visiting for the first time. After ordering, you can choose to sit at a booth, high-top table, or at the bar. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, with TVs throughout, a music machine, and even a pool table for entertainment. Since I'm currently following a fasting diet and skip breakfast and lunch, I ordered my meal to go so I could enjoy it for dinner. Having had plenty of pizza the night before at Shakespeare's, I decided to switch things up. I went with a pound of boneless wings--half buffalo, half mango habanero--and added a side of beef toasted ravioli. One of our local coworkers also ordered the XL cheese bread for the table, and I can confidently say, based on both this visit and past experiences, it's easily in my top three for cheese bread anywhere. Everyone in our group was happy with their food, from the pizzas to the other menu items. Overall, Gumby's is a spot I'll continue to visit whenever I'm in Columbia. Great service, solid food, and a laid-back vibe make it a go-to for a casual meal downtown.

However, I totally did enjoy my small sausage and jalapeno pizza after a night of bar hopping in COMO. I ordered at the counter and took my deliciousness back to my hotel room to enjoy. The counterperson was friendly and professional. There were several of us ordering and waiting for carry-out. She totally kept the line moving and even offered glasses of water for us to enjoy while waiting. My wait was actually a very short time. The set-up behind the counter was easy to view, so I got to watch them make my pizza. When mine came out of the oven, I knew it was mine. There were plenty of topping and the mozzarella cheese was well melted and even had a golden color to it. Is Gumby's the "best" pizza? No, but it is head and shoulders above a national chain pizzeria that is just a few doors down. So, I recommend them over Papa.

Amazing pizza place to bring your kids!…read more There is a section with steps for kids to walk on and look through the window. Then above it is a hole where workers throw pieces of dough through for the kids to catch and later play with! Such a genius idea because it keeps the kids and adults entertained. Inside vibe of this place is awesome with an Italian man statue that the babies pointed out. There is a bar deep inside the restaurant almost a little hidden which has TVs. There is also a small section with a driving game, and two claw machine games where all kids gravitated towards. Pizza was good, they offer multiple sizes and flexible toppings. Serve your own soda/beverages. Red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese offered as well. They also give towels. Wish the crust had more crunch or fluff but it was right in between I highly recommend eating here!

When I walked in, it smelt like memories of my childhood going to different pizza places with my grandparents and parents. It definitely has a retro nostalgic pizza restaurant vibe. I walked up to the counter and when they asked me for my name, I said "Roll Tide." They were glad to do it as long as I didn't say Go KU haha My buddy and I ordered the Masterpiece which was basically a Supreme pizza that had been recognized my Good Morning America. We also ordered garlic bread. The garlic bread came out first and it was all right. It was soft which is important to me but it could have had a little more cheese or garlic on it. The Masterpiece was delicious. Pizza doesn't love me as much as I use to love pizza. But I had no trouble throwing down 4 slices with the sweet taste of extra sauce that I asked for. Definitely nostalgic and definitely great pizza and somewhere you should go in Columbia.
