My friend and I make it a point to try and find some of the smaller older places to visit and I have seen this one several times and was actually apprehensive about going in. Just going through the back door, it seems like everyone would know you are not a regular if you try to go in the front LOL.

I started going into Jumbo's over 20 years ago when I was brought in by a fellow misfit and I instantly loved being there. Cindy, who owns and runs the place makes me smile as soon as I come in, always with a warm welcome. The regulars, on each specific day, are always good to see, quick with a quip. Drinks are cheap, basic surroundings and enchanting conversation every time I come in from Ann Arbor to see my daughter or have business in the city. Unchanged and loyal, it's a real pleasure to see an old school classic not gobbled up to become another Tapa's bar or whatever. Thank you Cindy and the legacy of Jumbo's!

Instead we got to enjoy The Kielbasa Kings! What a fun time!! I was super excited because we haven't been able to enjoy this celebration since pre-covid! But we are baaaaaaccckkk! As usual, we arrived early in the morning. And were one of the first there. We kicked it off with Polish beer and some shots. One of the guys that played in the band went to my highschool and his sister and I know each other so that was a fun surprise! They had a huge tent set up where the band was playing. They made both bathrooms female and brought in a porta potty for the guys. The removed all the furniture so it was standing room only. We got our polka on and had a great time! Great start to the day!!

My lychee martini was sweet and light with a lychee garnish. Bingo Bango was a spicy yet sweet cocktail. We went up another level to the rooftop as well, but it was closed due to the cold weather. I'm sure it's a beautiful vibe during the summer months. Service was great as well. The bartenders made sure our complimentary glasses of water stayed full and were sure to check on us regularly. I'm sure we'll return one day.

What was clearly a lunch counter diner back in the day is now a very cool bar with a nice vibe and quality pub grub. The Espolòn Blanco Ranch Water was great with a heavy pour. The Queensburger featured two thin, tavern-style patties with diced sautéed onions and a heavy topping of deli-style pickle chips, which I appreciated. The onion rings were battered and fried perfectly--light and crisp. When you bit into them, it was a clean break through the onion without pulling the whole thing out in the first bite. They came with a nice dipping sauce, and for pub grub, it was impressive that there was no greasiness to either dish. While it's not "healthy," they've taken care to serve it well. It's a low-key joint where you order everything from the bar; there is no table-side service, but in this small setting, that's not a problem.
