Cheese trays available to dine in or to go!

Delicious array of cheeses available here. The staff are very knowledgeable about the different types and flavors. Feel free to have a plate at the tables or take some to go.

A brand new cheese shop has opened up in Portland. The owners are super nice. As soon as you walk in they offer you a sample of a cheese. Very effective way to sell cheese! Cheese is one of those things that you either buy what you like or you have to try it to find something that you like. We tried the cheese they were sampling and liked it enough to take some home. They offer cheese boards with about 14 cheeses you can pick from. You select what kind of bread or crackers you want, olives or almonds, and what kind of jam or honey. 1 cheese is $8, 5 cheeses is $15. Seems fair. You can add some meat for $4. I just had the owner pick the cheese based on my criteria and it worked out well. The $15 cheese platter is enough for 2 people honestly. The store is limited in size so while they may not have 100 different cheeses to choose from they have a good selection to choose from.

Caseus Diem is Portland's new hidden gem, but I worry they are too hidden! Everyone needs to go check out this awesome experience on division. The cheese mongers are incredibly knowledgeable and super kind. The small space is cozy and abundant with delicious flavors. You can sample three cheeses, a jam and olives/almonds for $12. There's a plethora of options to build your own charcuterie board or just enjoy a great snack. Take the recommendations from the cool staff and try lots of samples. They have fun and funky flavors as well as classics you will love. I look forward to taking loved ones here and building charcuterie boards around the holiday season.

Went a few weeks ago staff are incredibly sweet and friendly, allowing me to ask way too many questions & sample. Cute seating This place has a terrible smell, im sure that's common in a cheese shop but it was werid, there's gotta be some sort of way to prevent it. It smelled like a barn. Food was way over priced I paid 24$ for all of this, but the rosemary crackers and jam... was delicious.

Their namesake sundae is a classic for a reason: the ganache is super fudgy and well-distributed, the toasted marshmallow is delicious, the cinnamon cookie bits add some nice texture. The cheese and crack sundae has toasted marshmallow, chocolate, and cinnamon cracker crumbs. Omg the cinnamon crumbs are so good, that with the ice cream was really yummy (I'm a simple girl what can I say). The chocolate hardened into a chocolate shell and it was kind of only on the bottom of the cup so that was a little disappointing. The toasted marshmallow didn't add much, but maybe I'm biased bc I don't rlly care for toasted marshmallow ‍ Overall, the entire sundae is mainly a ton of vanilla ice cream. It's a big portion that I shared with someone else. Second time I went, I got the banana pudding sundae which was soooo good. I shared this with my friend and it was plenty. They give a good amount of banana pudding and you can tell it's quality. I saw bananas, the bread/wafer part, and it pairs nicely with the ice cream. Prob my favorite thing from this place. My other friend got the pbo which was also good. They layer oreo and peanut butter pudding so you get it all throughout the sundae which is nice. She also got an everything cookie which has literally everything in it. It was texturally interesting and not too sweet! Overall, good flavors and quality ice cream. The portions are a bit big and I wish they had half or even quarter sizes since these came in huge cups. At a certain point, the vanilla ice cream becomes flavorless bc there's so much of it but the sundaes were still pretty good!

Our server was friendly and quick. She answered questions and described the specials. They have gluten free focaccia!!!! It was super yummy, but it was also served kinda cold. Worth it. We ordered the fresh catch, which was halibut with some potatoes and grilled asparagus. The accompanying sauces were delicious. The asparagus was good. The white potatoes though had been cooked previously and weren't reheated enough. They were described as new potatoes but were definitely large chunks of russets. They were hard to eat. So we didn't. We also had the Punta di Fesa which is a braised beef dish with mushrooms on polenta. The balsamic mushrooms and polenta were so flavorful and delicious. It was a good thing that my husband started with this dish (we traded halfway through and had plenty to eat!) because I would have eaten his share of the polenta too. The beef however was dry and not what I would have expected from a braised beef. When we were given a knife, we were told we probably wouldn't need it. We did. The service here was friendly and helpful. Our server was knowledgeable about gluten free needs and recommended a great bottle of wine that went well with our fish AND the beef (which is tricky...yummy Chianti AND half price!). It was pretty busy for a Tuesday night at 7. There were people that ended up waiting but not too long. There are shelves of Italian goods all around you. My husband said he felt like he was eating in a store. You kind of are, but it was still cozy. I plan to come back to try the gluten free pasta and maybe a lunch sandwich if they have solid gf options there. Also, the dessert menu looked great. We were just full.

Because the food was so damn good. Look - I'm going to start off by saying I grew up practically on The Hill. Out here, you'll have to Google it (make sure to add 'RI' to the search or you'll get some political BS), but back east, "alls you's have ta say" was those two words and anyone would know you knew your Italian, food and otherwise. There isn't anything on this coast that vaguely compares to The Hill's food, but walking into and biting out of Geraldi's was having a little piece of home. There's this little shop in the old town where the owner knew your voice when you called to order... you'd walk in, and you heard "hey cousin!" whether you were or not, and that's the vibe you get from Geraldi's. The food is much the same - you get something that looks like Nonna was at the range all day with her sauce (it's not gravy - no meat) and you came home looking like you haven't eaten in weeks: "I'm gonna fatten you up before you leave" and you walked out the door with a sub (sandwich, that is - not a submarine) that weighed the same as a newborn. We got three of those babies: a Chicago Beef (seal of approval from the orderer - only 'complaint' was that they had to eat it all in one day because the bread was quote too soggy to make it to lunch the next day - travesty), an Italian sausage (just as delicious when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and a Chicken Parmeroni (I thought somehow even better when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and I could have absolutely gone back the next day if it weren't for A. the leftovers 2/3 of us had and B. the meal planning we'd done for the week. I also grabbed a side of giardiniera because I will get it anytime I see it available and I inhaled it - I need to know if I can by it by the vat instead of the side cups because it too was similar to what I can find at home (about practically nowhere out here) and amazing!! I'm still upset I didn't take pictures though!

JinJu is my favorite bakery of the year and we had already planned a visit over the weekend before the news ever hit. We drove on over on Sunday for one last hurrah. Oh my god the line. We got there a bit over 15 minutes before opening, figuring that things wouldn't be too bad, but by that time the line stretched down the block, around the corner, and almost to the alleyway. I counted 70 people in line ahead of us. By the time the bakery opened at 8AM, there were at least another 60+ people in line after us, marching further down all the way to Vancouver Ave. Insane line. We didn't reach the door until after 9AM and then it took another 10 minutes or so to get to the front of the line. Our total wait was 1.5 hours and it was still worth the effort in my opinion. By the time we got to the front, the Ham, Bacon & Gruyere and whatever was in the bottom left case (Almond?) were already out of stock. The Butter and Chocolate were both running low with perhaps 10 pieces left of each. While the operation is winding down, the quality is still as high as ever. We went with our old standbys - the Butter Croissant, Chocolate Croissant, Spinach Feta Tart, and Morning Bun, all just as good as I remembered. I'm not even going to describe them again since they were pretty much 100% identical to my first two visits (for those curious, refer to my previous review). Portland is really losing something special. I hope Jin and Q take a well deserved long vacation and then open another concept in the near future! PS: After our multiple visits, I was never able to obtain their Almond Croissant. That's definitely my white whale, never to be achieved at this point!
