So good! Full disclosure: was a little tipsy. Had a brat - full of flavor, a little sweet. Had a second. Thanks from a PDX disc player.

Providore is a feast for the senses and a great place to treat yo self! Like other reviewers share,…read moreit's not the place to go for your regular grocery resupply, but for items where you want something unique, elevated, and special, this is the place. The market is well-stocked with unique shelf items from around the world-- pastas, jams/jellies, biscuits, oils, vinegars, tinned fish, and legumes. They have a vast deli case with meats, cheeses, and prepared items. The meat and fish counter is magazine-worthy and they feature some hot-food specials using meats and sausages from their counter. The wine selection is expansive-- we even saw a few bottles from the Loire region of France which we had the great fortune decades ago to visit family friends. It was the produce area that really made my heart sing and my eyes bug out. The produce section is colorful, artfully arranged. I could practically feel the antioxidants beaming into my body! I have never seen SO many varieties of alliums in my life. They had four different types of "green onion" (scallion, green garlic, calçot, and red spring onion), plus mahoosive leeks. We had a great experience with service which was friendly, helpful, and prompt. Since we were out and about doing other things we didn't get anything that required refrigeration like cheese, meats or produce, but we did have sandwiches from the deli case which were tasty. I look forward to going back for some of the produce and cheeses.

He asked if I wanted the small or large. I told him I like the small and medium ones. While there was no one in that area at the time, the guy said something in Spanish and another man came passed me, went into their freezer area and returned with a pack of frozen meat. At this time, I noticed the prep area or whatever you call it, had 2 different spots that concerned me. One was a puddle of watery blood and the other was just bloody. As the man began to open the package, I told him he should wipe down and sanitize that area before cutting my meat. He apparently didn't understand English so motioned in a wiping type way. I did and said this at least 4 times. All of a sudden the young female that was working the cash register up front came to the back and got very indignant with me telling me to move away from the open area, to in front of the display case. I kept asking her to tell the man to wipe down and sanitize the area before cutting my meat. Her reply continued to be, "You need to wait over there and let him do his job". I told her repeatedly that that was a health issue but to no avail did she cooperate. Her customer service skills were extremely rude and argumentative. Finally, when the other man came from up front, he told the guy to wipe it down. At this time, the guy cutting the meat grabbed a towel off of a rack and wipe down just the watery bloody part. Didn't even wet it or use any type of sanitization. After cutting my meat, and I headed to the front to purchase it, the young female continued with her condescending and rude attitude. Little does she know I happen to work for the health department and will be reporting this incident. I'm an older woman with health issues and do not want to get salmonella poisoning due to their negligence.

It was very interesting to learn about how they started the company, from where and how they source and receive their chocolate, and what they do to make it as smooth and creamy and delicious as it is. And it is the smoothest and the creamiest chocolate I've ever had! The tour was quite generous in their tasting portion with so many flavors and textures to experience! The samples were small, but honestly it was a good thing. By the end, I had a hard time eating more, not because I didn't want to, but because my sweet tolerance had been met. Still, it was a true pleasure! Everybody had fun creating their own chocolate bar. We got to choose from dark, milk or white chocolate, then add toppings and flavors from many options. After the tour experience, you can choose to visit their gift shop. You don't need more chocolate, but you'll want someone! My favorites were the spicy chocolate bar and the sesame seed toffee bark. The salted caramel was amazing too! Go and enjoy!

Thank you Creo for making my friends birthday so wonderful. I appreciate your guys' excellent service considering our late attendance.
