A great spot to hit up if you're ever in Owen Sound! Friendly staff, amazing food and quite a lot of seating available. There were a selection of 5-6 hot sauces at each table to use with your meal- was fun to try them all out I got the nachos and three tacos to share - Nachos - 5/5 , you have to get these! The thick Tortilla chips are a great vehicle to hold all the toppings that are generously added to this dish. You can choose to add a meat or vegetable on top of the house nachos; we went with crispy Cauliflower. Would recommend adding that as it adds a great texture and flavour to the dish - Tacos - overall were a bit disappointing, maybe we picked not so great ones?? -- pork: 3/5 felt very dry which is unfortunate because the flavour was on point. I wonder if there was some sauce missing in our batch -- fish: 3/5 the flavour was a bit lacking in this one, felt almost bland. I had to add some of the hot cause on the table to make it palatable -- shrimp: 4/5 the best of the three tacos we picked. We were visiting Owen Sound for the day and came across this place when searching! Casero is currently open 3 days a week from 5-9 and they seem to be super busy! The COVID-19 /social distance friendly patio and building itself are vibrant and the servers were kind and accommodating. I'd definitely recommend ordering online if you want takeout as if you order there and wait it will be quite long. My family and I tried most of the menu, between the 8 of us we ordered fish, shrimp, brisket, and chicken tacos, a fish burrito, vegan nachos, and regular nachos. The vegan nachos were beautifully plated and were a hit with my family. I tried the fish, shrimp, and brisket nachos which were all delicious. The addition of pineapple in the fish tacos gave them a unique flavour that I haven't tasted anywhere else. Overall I enjoyed my experience at Casero and my family said "5 stars!" read more

As a Texan/Californian visiting Owen Sound for work over the past six months, I was so happy to find Casero. I didn't think I would find authentic sabores mexicanos en Ontario. The first three times I visited, the food and the service was excellent. But for whatever reason, my visit tonight was disappointing. I ordered some tacos, and chose tacos that were both gluten-free and dairy-free. I asked to make one of them a double. What I got was a double with a bunch of cheese. When I pointed this out to my bar tender, she simply said "sorry" and didn't offer to replace the order. But beyond that, the staff just wasn't that welcoming and friendly, not like they were a few months ago. read more

I heard good things about this place so I thought I would give it a try. I had the chicken burrito, and I have to say I didn't enjoy it. They put something sour in it which I really found off putting. I have had lots of delicious burritos and can't say I've had one as unpleasant as this one. Great find! Came here for lunch while passing through the city. I'm glad I did! The service was exceptionally as was the food. I ordered a mojito with tequila which was terrific. My boyfriend ordered a caesar and it was good. I got the tacos - beetroot (good, unique), chicken, and shrimp. Great flavour all round and gluten free which is great! The shrimp is breaded in chickpea flour for fellow gluten free peeps. My boyfriend had the beef burrito and was really impressed, felt it was flavourful and hit the spot. Great experience. Reminds me of Portland restaurants with a higher price tag. The good: Delicious food! Vegetarian options were unique, flavorful and plentiful (beet, sweet potato, mushroom, Brussels sprouts)! Kids' menu was very kid-friendly with lots of options. The inside of the place has great ambiance. It takes you to a tiny, cozy, intimate setting that you forget the view isn't so nice in the patio. I ordered the beef brisket, shrimp and whitefish taco. I was really impressed with the shrimp taco. You can really taste the distinct flavours. The whitefish was very mild tasting, and you cannot really taste the different sauces and toppings they have on it. Same with the beef brisket, there are a lot of toppings listed but I was disappointed not to be able to make out any distinct flavours. Perhaps this is why they have tons of hot sauces to put on the taco. However, these hot sauces take away the flavour of the taco itself. Any hot sauce above 1 star was overpowering to the tacos. They make the taco shells in house as well as the chips. The chips were pretty good, salty, oily and tasty. This place is great to relax and is definitely better than taco bell. They are closed from 3pm to 5pm. :( hours are not the best. They have a patio but it's not a good view. The inside looks is great though. It is beside a Salvation Army. Be aware of the hours!!! Opened up in 2015, and they definitely have a unique take on their nachos. It seems homemade and combined with the toppings make a very good dinner option I typically wouldn't choose. They have this new mushroom taco on their menu, order it, it will blow your mind. People think their beef brisket is good(don't get me wrong it is), but.... this is better. read more

Having tacos stick with the fish, sneaky cauliflower, or beef brisket. For appetizers loved the sneaky wings, could go lighter on the breading and sauce but delicious. We also love the house nachos, they hit this one out of the park. I find the chicken and steak tacos or burritos disappointing so I stay away from those. Whitefish was decent, but nothing special. Everything else was honestly not very good. Brisket and pulled pork meats were dry with no flavour. "Sneaky wings" is an appetizer of breaded, deep fried cauliflower. Tasty-ish, sure. I love cauliflower. But it's excessive. Breading is way too thick and the sauce made it soggy. It also offers patio dining for the summer months and the chicken bowl is something I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to eat lunch at this establishment. I was up in Owen sound for the weekend and found this place close by the place was seriously empty it the owners and staff were super nice and friendly we ordered the beer battered fish taco, hickory smoked beef brisket burrito and churro with chocolate sauce their hot sauces they have different variety and really delicious starting with the staff phenomenal service I was surprised this place was so empty but the population in Owen sound isn't that much. They filled the water glass bottle every time it was empty very attentive starting with the burrito one word wow amazing texture beef cooked perfectly melts in your mouth and with the hot sauce wow second he beer battered fish taco with coleslaw d I added their different hot sauce holy crap this was delicious perfectly crisp the fish was nice and light finishing off with dessert the Churros with the chocolate sauce nice and soft on the inside and the chocolate sauce compliments the churro really well the negative it was a little on the pricey side but the food was excellent read more

After a 2 hour drive from Toronto (with 2 hours remaining to destination Tobermory), you can imagine how thrilled I was to finally stretch my legs and eat something other than beef jerky and sour keys. (refer to picture) GRILLED STEAK TACO - Mirror, mirror on the wall, could this be the blandest taco of them all? Sadly, yes. The taco includes iceberg lettuce, white onion and fresh jalapeño. Why is this the only taco without the slaw and crema/salsa? (refer to picture) I feel cheated. EDIBLE CHOICES Crispy Cauliflower, Sweet Potato, Pulled Pork and Hickory Smoked Beef Brisket Taco. The presentation and overall vibe of this place is great but the quality and value fell flat. We ordered the house nachos for an app and they looked fabulous, sauces on top were great, presentation great but not much actual food-especially when u consider the price. Tacos were very average, presentation boring and serving size of fillings very skimpy. Burrito bowl very well presented but small portion ( honestly felt like a tablespoon each of rice and beans) (mostly lettuce) the beef tasted and had the texture of deli roast beef-no flavour either. Margarita was good. I'm glad we checked this place out for the vibe but wouldn't go back again - really overpriced for what is served and flavours kind of bland. read more

Travelling for work I often find myself in cities across North America discovering local establishments in search of the best food and beer I can find at a decent price. This time, taking a course not related to work, I found myself looking at restaurant reviews to see what a small town like Owen Sound had to offer. Not only is their high rating correct, it is well deserved. I was greeted at the door within 10 seconds by a bartender during a fairly busy night. I quickly found a seat at the bar with a menu in hand. So many amazing choices including tacos, burritos, quesadillas, nachos and a ton of sides and starters. I started with one of my favorite beverages - Beau's Lig Tread. Poured from an old school fridge, it was the perfect thing to get me ready for the meal ahead. As a vegetarian I stayed clear from the meat but to my surprise there were plenty of options for me. I ordered the roasted sweet potato taco and the crispy cauliflower taco and boy were they perfect. Coming in at $5.50 each (or 3 for $15), I wanted to try a couple of them and decide if I wanted a third. These tacos were loaded. I needed a fork to squish down the toppings just to take a bite. Not only were they loaded, they looked like they were taken out of a magazine. So beautifully layered presented. They were both so well balanced. The sweet potato taco had a small kick from the spice rub that was balanced by the slaw and sweetness of the potato. The cauliflower was crispy and saucy with such a light touch. I must have ate both within 3 or 4 minutes wanting more and more while savouring every bite. After taking a few minutes in the afterglow of these beauties, I took a few minutes to look around at the simple but aesthetically pleasing room. Nice touches with the cacti on the tables and sombreros above the bar. With a big garage door at one end of the room, I can imagine this place is a go-to for locals in the summer. Once I had a few minutes to rest, I had to order the churros. After a short wait, I received a plate of 5 (slightly overcooked) churros with a beautiful chocolate sauce. They may have been slightly darker than. I would normally like, they were a perfect end to my evening. The total price was quite reasonable for what I had. If I had the stomach I would've ordered every piece of food on the menu. With a fantastic choice of food and beverage list that makes most bars jealous, I will make my way back to Casero Kitchen Table and I suggest you do the same. read more

Fantastic tacos. Honestly was not expecting to find food of this quality just a stone's throw away from the Greyhound Station in Owen Sound, tucked away at the end of some parking lot, but this place delivers! Unbelievable collection of vegan, vegetarian, and pescatarian tacos. We tried the bean and cheese, tofu, cauliflower, trout, shrimp, and my mom also tried the pulled pork. All were fantastic. A tad pricy at 6.50 per taco or 17 for a platter of 3, but I thought they were worth it. Service was wonderful and our waitress was just lovely. Highly recommended!!! read more

I travel for work so I eat out A LOT. This restaurant is definitely on my top 10 list and that's saying something. I had the tacos and the options were so tempting that I actually ended up getting 4 :s. I wasn't interested in getting the beef as there were a few other options I was eyeing but decided to go for it when the server recommended it. The flavour was unlike any beef I have had before. I also had the crispy cauliflower, the sweet potato, and the shrimp tacos. All good but the beef was the best! Regarding the service: My server was a gem! I started with chips and guacamole. I'm a bit of a homemade guac fan and this lacked some panache and flavour. I seem to be often walking through this alley when I am hungry so in I go. My sister brought me here initially. She's gluten free so there are lots of options for her and I don't eat beef or pork so still lots of options for me. Delicious food! Fresh, colourful and a healthy balanced meal. The smoked beef brisket taco was quite delicious and definitely my favourite. The grilled chicken taco was pretty good too. However I did not like the pulled pork taco very much. The meat was over cooked and bland. Definitely won't try that again. They make their own house made hot sauce that they serve you too. I admire their attempt to create their own signature hot sauce but it wasn't very good. Yes it was definitely hot but not very tasty. A hot sauce needs to be more then just hot. The atmosphere in there is very nice. Very aesthetically pleasing, warming and welcoming. tucked in but cosy. The price was bit expensive for what you get. That was probably my biggest issue. Running up to over $30 for a starter and and main dish. Another little issue I had but isn't really a big deal is how their menus look. Their menu's are like a long clipboard with paper attached. Great authentic Mexican food, tamed a little for the Canadian palate, but amazing interpretations of traditional Mexican fare. They also have Mexican soda and beer - wonderful menu is well worth the drive to Owen Sound. Great chef with wonderful staff, and nice light atmosphere that adds to a wonderful experience. Recommend calling ahead on weekends and holidays for reservations, but take-out is just as awesome! Again perfection in the form of a burrito I can't say enough about the quality,quantity and flavour of the fabulous beef burrito at Casero kitchen table. In house smoked beef brisket,perfectly spice rice,properly cooked beans, perfect quick pickled slaw all in a fresh tortilla lightly grilled for the finishing touch on what can only be described as the ultimate burrito. There is nothing you could possibly do to improve on this, except maybe order another. I always ask for extra spicy and even with the heat cranked up the flavour shines through. Every bite confirms that there really is no substitute for quality ingredients and food made with care. read more
