We have been a week in Port Elgin, trying all the restaurants and this one was clearly the best by far! After a day of navigating the challenging wet weather, we enjoyed a surprisingly wonderful time with amazingly diverse fusion cuisine; 3 main dishes between the 2 of us: Malaysian beef, eggplant, and potato curry $26 West African Peanut Stew $16 on the menu. Thai Green Coconut Curry $15 on the menu. We also ordered hand made naan! The meals were outstanding and extremely good value. Last but not least we had to try one of 2 dessert options despite how over full we felt...the beavertail-like pastry with homemade blueberry topping with fresh cream. Was the yummiest. We found out quickly that it is essential to call ahead for a reservation, as Saffron serves many in takeout and not as many in house. To our luck, we were able to make an immediate reservation. Jen, the owner, was extremely friendly and had lots of great energy as she served us. The appetizer special we ordered was a stuffed naan, filled with shredded spiced chicken, lentils, dates, and caramelized onions. It was served with a garlic sauce that was just as incredible as the stuffed naan itself! For dinner I ordered the Shahi Paneer (they make their own paneer in house!) The paneer was delicious and served with some amazing fresh naan. My mother got the brisket special. I tried a bite and it was one of the most flavourful dishes I have tried! My father tried the Cuban pulled pork wrap which was good as well. We dined on their shaded back patio, which was the most calm and serene place for a satisfying meal.

I found the Deep Fried Mac and Cheese especially addictive (since they were in cute triangle bite-sized pieces, crispy on the outside and still cheesy and creamy on the inside) before we left to return to Toronto, we grabbed one for the road! We also tried the mozzarella sticks which were awesome when you had them freshly made and the cheesy-ness and stretchy-ness just added to the experience! And no, frozen versions from the supermarkets aren't the same DUH! It will definitely be a place I will go to whenever I visit Owen Sound and I highly recommend all to try this place out! The cod and halibut was good but they had Alaskan white fish which I thought was amazing. This is the only place that I know can get this fish. This is a must try. The prices are reasonable. The chips and the sweet potato fries were really good too. We also ordered the shrimp platter. It presented well but nothing special. They ran out of the crab cakes so we will try that another time. Will definitely come back for the Alaskan white fish.
