The appointment was prompt, the breakdown of what was needed to bring our hearth into the 21st century was clear and concise, and we had a reasonable quote and a date of delivery by the time he headed out. The work itself, now finished, is stellar. He used the existing ceramic logs (which we really like) with a new, updated flame delivery system and even took the time to paint out the interior of the fireplace to create a "shadowbox" effect for the fire. Total time from start to finish was under two hours, and we're already on point to contact him for further repairs to the chimney and porch steps in the future. Definitely the type of contractor you hope to do business with: punctual, prompt with responses, painless to work with and a real pip of a personality.

Fireplace technician Rob Gray was on time as informed when I set up the appointment on line from 7 days prior. Before starting the process of cleaning, camera of inspection then approval, he was kind enough to ask questions about the fireplace being the first time at My Home. He was very knowledgeable and also discussed the types of wood to burn to help out with less creosote in the chimney. Then he talked about moisture levels and those annoying down drafts which I was already aware of. Before I start a fire on a Windy afternoon I open up the door-wall a bit to assist wind. Humor about the company name, I asked employee Rob where was his stethoscope since name of company is Dr. SWEEP! :-) He was cautious with using the backyard and door-wall to bring in his cleaning and inspection equipment plus a tarp on the carpet to prevent dirt or dust. The masonry chimney potential concerns and fireplace concerns worksheet I attached in a photo to state the many steps in the verification of the service! Since My fireplace has a insert and high tech blower system that checked out great and in proper usage. No leaks, no damaged bricks and the 8 inch Flue checked out fine. It was nice to see the camera photos of a shiny Liner! I was pleased in the final process with great results and that the fireplace passed inspection is safe for use again in the Fall. The start to finish cleaning and outside inspection on the roof of the family room fireplace took 1 Hour. Great Service, Details in High Quality and a Good Cleaning price of $269.00. less coupon discount $20.00. Now the outside on the roof of the chimney "Crown" needs to be resurfaced after 25 years of using the fireplace and also waterproofing which I will set up a day and time later on to complete this in September or October. I was glad to find this company in the Dollars Inside Coupon Book and checked on their reviews and used a coupon for $20.00 off the cleaning. I will also use another coupon in the future for 20% off Masonry Repairs. This company has been in business since 1999. What took Me so long to find them to call ? :-) Thank You Rob at Dr. Sweep and the next time I call for cleaning, I will ask for You! Attached are photos of this business with ads, Hours, the set up and cleaning process and the final paperwork of My Home fireplace Spring cleaning project, inspection and Approval to close it up. They are Licensed & Insured #2103219210 Sincerely. Karen N. :-)

A recent professional inspection of the chimney this company repaired, just over a year ago,…read moredeclared it unsafe for use, in part, due to the repair work. The flue tile installed was a different size from the original, creating an unsafe ledge that can collect creosote and cause a chimney fire. Additionally, the crown has separated from the brick and lacks an overhang to direct rain water away from the brick beneath. The crown is now crumbling and mortar cracks have started to appear between the replaced bricks. The inspection was conducted prior to ever using the fireplace, approximately a year after the repairs were done. This after the chimney caps they installed flew off during a storm narrowly avoiding damaging the roof and could have injured a person or pet. The caps were dented and some of their internal welds broken. After months of requests, the one cap that was replaced was installed on a decorative, non-functional tile. When pointed out, a damaged original cap was installed on the functional chimney tile without telling me. When I inspected the work later, I found both caps improperly installed, without the retention screws being properly secured/tightened. When this and other work was done on the house a year ago, we had to call them back several times to repair issues that were hidden from us during the final walk through. Issues included but are not limited to a non-functional damper, broken bricks that hadn't been replaced as expected and completely missing bricks above grade. In one missing brick case, a brick hole, just above grade, was filled completely with mortar, no brick, and dirt had been piled in front to hide it. In another case, this time well above grade, a storage cabinet was placed in front to hide it from view. Based on these facts, I now lack piece of mind on the other repairs made; time will tell. I never want these people to touch my house again, even to repair the items listed above, and recommend you avoid using them.

Oak Roofing was recommended to me by a good friend who had his home re-roofed and was very satisfied with the job they did. I spoke with one of the owners, John, on the phone about the monetary details after his brother, Mike, came to my home for the estimation process. They provide a brochure which detailed the process with a complete description of the products which they had. They provided a list of over a hundred satisfied customers. They scheduled the project for about 2-3 weeks out, and on the day which the project was to start, their crew of 12 workers showed up early in the morning and 100% finished the job by late afternoon. The finished project was completed with no details left undone - I say this because I got up on the roof the next day to check out their work. The finished product was very well done - no bad cuts on any shingles, the flashing was completely sealed around the chimney, and the gutter-guards were installed perfectly. The crew did a great clean-up, and except for the beautiful new roof, you couldn't even tell that a 12 person crew had ever been there - not a speck of trash. The other good news was that Oak Roofing is a Veteran friendly company, so the discount was a bonus - every little bit helps these days. To conclude - Mike and John are true gentleman with a highly efficient crew. Great job, Oak Roofing!! M. Reynolds Royal Oak
