TLDR: There are plenty of other venues you can use for a large or intimate event. Choose them. I wish we would've. I would leave zero stars if that were an option, the one star could be for the serving/bar staff, they were nice. Thats where my positives end. The people we worked with Kirk and Wendy were extremely difficult to deal with and my pregnant cousin was left in tears on what should've been one of the happiest days of her life. I helped my cousin plan their baby shower there. It seemed that everything was fine, my cousins decided to announce in the middle of their baby shower that they eloped. Wendy was told when we arrived 45 minutes before the baby shower while we were setting up and she was super encouraging as we are carrying things out and cleaning up we found that she completely changed her tune and they tried to charge over $3500 more than originally quoted for food and an intimate wedding package (which came with additional food, time and dozens of amenities we didn't use or were even offered to us to use) we received nothing additional from the service we originally were invoiced and agreed to. It was truly unbelievable we took 10 minutes out of our 4 hr party to celebrate them getting married and they said "the baby shower was secondary" (ACTUAL QUOTE) where we did literally 6 baby shower games, baby shower gifts, all the decor and cake (including a gender reveal cake) and party favors were all about the baby. It was really heartbreaking and can't believe they would berate a pregnant woman like that at her event. read more

We had a micro-wedding here 1 year ago and could not have been more thrilled with the quality. The food was delicious, the venue is gorgeous, and the ladies who work there were so nice and helpful. My family still talks about the egg casserole/souffle and churro donuts. read more

I want to start this review by saying Cascades Manor is predatory and I would not recommend it to anyone. I never write reviews but today is the day that I am because it needs to be said. I had a baby shower at Cascades Manor, my significant other and I decided to do a short exchange of vows amidst the baby shower as our whole family was present (no one in the family was aware of this taking place). It was a baby shower but we got charged for it as a wedding package despite not getting any of the extra items/services/time and it NOT being a wedding event, simply put. We told Wendy prior to the exchange of vows what was going to take place and she congratulated us, gave me a hug, stated how excited she was, and then asked if we needed anything in which I told her no, everything was handled and that we didn't need anything extra. She did not mention an up charge or us not being allowed to so we were under the impression that all was fine until the end when we went to pay and were charged AN EXTRA $3000+ DOLLARS. Kirk and Wendy were extremely rude and Wendy completely changed the way she was acting towards us and was stating how we didn't tell them despite us telling her prior. We also were charged for more plates than guests that were present and we didn't even get the option of taking any food home. The event through and through was a baby shower as all the decorations, cakes, gifts, and games were baby shower themed and everyone there was in attendance for a baby shower. The exchange of vows and three short dances took a maximum 15 minutes of our four hour event. It honestly baffled me how we were treated by Kirk and Wendy as they made snarky comments and spoke in raised tones. NO ONE should be charged for things they didn't receive and be treated so horribly. I have NEVER had customer service like this and definitely did not expect crying tears of sadness on a day that meant so much to me. In March, my wife and I contacted this establishment and put down a deposit of $275 for a planned October dinner for about 25 family members and friends. In May, our plans changed and I contacted them to cancel the dinner. At that point, I was informed that we could cancel but our $275 deposit would not be refunded even though it was 4 months prior to the planned event. Certainly 4 months notice was enough time to rebook the room but that was not even considered. Now they can rebook the room and still keep the $275 they have stolen from us. read more

This is a review of the Sunday brunch here. Not a huge selection of food for a brunch buffet, but most of what they had was quite good. And the view is nice. A few of the hot food items were kind of meh, including the macaroni and cheese which was universally panned. And they could have had rarer roast beef available. The desserts, on the other hand, were superb. Lemon cake was excellent, and the pies had a great crust and not too sweet filling. The rest of the food was quite enjoyable. Service was ok - they could have offered coffee refills more often, but they cleared plates with alacrity. For $20/person, value is average. read more

Hate to be Danny Downer here. Took mom daughter and grandma here yesterday for Mother's Day Brunch. Though the staff was great, the food was not. This was undoubtedly the worst brunch food wise I've ever been too (well there was that God awful fish fry once). How dare they charge 28 bucks per person for mediocre store bought food. Other than the turkey and roast beef, nothing else seemed prepared by the restaurant. There was something called stewed tomotoes, that was covered in cheese. Really? No pasta? Just cheese and tomatoes? All deserts came out of a box, crackers no cheese, the salad was weak, no dressings to add to it. At least the frozen fish was cooked. Just an insult to have to pay for that especially on Mom's big day. Certainly won't be back. read more

I was talking to Sue Chapel here about holding a bridal shower at Cascades Manor. I live in Chicago now and was thinking this might be a nice place to hold an event. I asked Sue about a date change for the event, still a month away, and she was really unprofessional. In the end I decided to lose my $75 deposit and just go somewhere else for the shower. Sue would rather lose a $1k event entirely than make a change to the date. Very silly. Think twice before working with this restaurant. They have no clue about how customer service works. read more

OK, now that The Cascades Manor House deleted my post of my disappointment on Mother's day at Brunch. I will have to take a different approach, when I commented on their FB page regarding the poorly designed menu, completely different of their past performances. "The best place to have a Mother's Day Brunch ever!!!" is what I was telling all who was to attend. I almost expected some comments or a response. I did not, they deleted my comments. That seems like a good decision for them. Perhaps they will contact me at a later date. Perhaps they will address the gentleman at the prime rib station as council, you should never ask a guest as they return to a carving station, "You're back again"? Or the chef regarding serving red potatoes with Brown gravy, along with the 2 cans of redi whip in a bowl next to the very limited dessert table, the quiche served in the very pan they were purchased in, or the yam thing that was too sweet to eat. It seemed like a contrast regarding the distant memory of the grand smoked salmon and white fish, eggs and waffle stations with real whipped cream, salads of all kinds and a great selection of kitchen made entrees we had experienced before. At one point, I thought I may have missed a room of food. I hope that if something is said the management will step it up in the future and give a menu commensurate to the bill. Shame on me for not asking to see the menu prior to the reservation but I was relying on my past fond memories. The service was good but the card table we were sat at was so flimsy, any movement tossed drinks around like we were at sea in a storm. I had Sunday brunch there yesterday and it was fabulous. Sue was very friendly and made us all feel like family. The presentation of the food was very nice and the assortment was great. I tried a little bit of everything and found nothing I didn't like. I was surprised to see loads of nice sized shrimp on the buffet, awesome. The beef carved at request was tasty and tender. The atmosphere was lovely. I will defineitely be going back. read more
