Their houses are built so well and the onboarding process when we purchased the house was incredible. They have an exceptional warranty and put together a binder with all of the products (furnace, hot water heater, etc) and step by step showed us what to do for the warranties on all. My wife and I chose Cascade West to build our retirement home after interviewing and checking references of several Clark County builders. I must preface this review with; I have been a project manager for large scale public work construction projects and definitely know which end of the hammer to hold. We understood there could be challenges with any large-scale custom project. Our experience with Cascade West was wonderful. As this was our first time building a home, we had no idea what to expect or how the process would go. This is the second home we've had built by Cascade West Development (CWD). Our Project Manager was Ken Viola and we worked with Jason on the design for both homes. The quality of our home is impeccable and the attention to detail has been second to none. Naturally there are many things at the final walk through that requires additional attention, but for us, all issues were resolved over time though their quality manager Kristen G. Before, during and after the build process, CWD provided us continuous updates in reference to our initial budget to avoid any financial surprises at the end. Subsequently, the completion of our home came in under budget. Our project manager Ken met often with us to share his thoughts and ideas on design improvements during the construction process. Leveraging his years of experience Ken was able to provide cost effective solutions to both simple and complex problems. A few examples are: 1) upgrading the power requirements for our predominantly all electric home, 2) using a stamped, waterproof, concrete deck instead of composite decking materials, 3) the 4-4-7 siding pattern added a noticeable unique front elevation style to our home and 4) insulating our garage and plumbing it for heat for the future. These were just a few of the great ideas that we took advantage of thanks to Ken's advice and experience. This was our first time going through the custom home building process and we were very pleased with the process and absolutely love our new home! We came to the table with an idea of what we wanted. Working with Jason was very fun and easy and he was able to help put our thoughts and visions on paper and made great recommendations along the way. Cascade West made the design and selection process really smooth and most of the companies we partnered with to bring our vision to life were fun and super helpful to work with. We also really enjoyed working with our Project Manager, Caleb. He was definitely our advocate and always worked really hard to have our best interest and design in mind. He was also very budget conscious, helping us stay on track and pushing back when things weren't done right the first time. He was open to hearing all of our new ideas and questions along the way and kept us informed about the timeline and what was coming next. We knew he was really busy with other projects but he was always very present and focused on our project when he was there. From the time we signed paperwork to the day we received the keys was about exactly one year. The budget process was fairly straightforward and clear, just make sure to track everything yourself and also set aside a contingency fund as things will always come up. When I went to meet with him at their office in Ridgefield, he didnt even have the decency to say hello or shake my hand. He just said my name and walked into his office. Really!?? Who does that? I have been in sales for 18 years and I would NEVER treat anyone with such indecency. Not only that but his communication was incredibly poor. Four years ago, we moved into the home that Cascade West Development built for us. This home was very customized and we made several changes along the way. I get asked regularly about our builder. I thought I would make it official on a five star review. Cascade West isn't a perfect builder (who is?) but I gave them five stars because if there was any issue ever, they dealt with it immediately and with integrity. Furthermore, you can see by the photos that the craftsmanship is superior. Two years after my home was built, we had some cosmetic issues with our master bath. The contractor that Cascade West had hired was not taking responsibility so Cascade West made good on the contractor's warranty and took care of everything no questions asked. Our bathroom is now as beautiful as it was on the first day it was built. Brent, the owner is a straight shooter and gets things done. We appreciated the authenticity of all of the people that we worked with including Drew and Ron. We recently bought a custom home from CWD in Camas, Summit Terrace, and we're very happy with the result of the home and the overall process. I like the quality built constructions, and also the flexibility in all in upgrades. :) It's all wood, quality and no short cut. We were in apartment and needed to move into the new home by certain time and Cascade delivered it one week prior to schedule. The CWD team that I worked with are Ron, Loren, Brent, Kristin, and Darla and they're super helpful, responsive, and knowledgeable. They were able to accommodate a lot of changes and requests and questions we asked thru out the process. We had a few small items like paint touch up here and there, but those addressed after our formal walk thru and blue tape. Our metal glass garage doors was delayed we afraid they won't have it in time, but they came two weeks prior to move in. Building a new home from start to finish can be stressful and these guys exceeded my expectation because they're helpful, responsive, knowledgeable, and accommodating. read more

Absolutely the worst experience we've ever had building a home. Their project managers are never on-site, they blew through contracted budgets that required owner approval and then said the reason was that they were "in a hurry". Our master shower has leaked for at least 6 months and caused damage to the subfloor, insulation, and now mold has developed - they tore it up to find the leak and then said we had to pay to fix it despite it being their design flaw - we still don't have use of our master shower. We're out over $40K in overages and damages, yet they won't respond to us or our attorney so we move to the next step. read more

We are about 3 months into our newly built home (first ever build). While building for a first home may seen like a large undertaking, Jason took the time to customize floor plans to our exact specifications. He never made us feel like we were bothering him with minute changes to our floor plan or asking him to tweak something that just didn't feel right. Loren was also an amazing superintendent. Very attentive to detail and most of all, patient. As first-time home builders, it is needless to say we had many concerns and DUMB questions. Looking back, they were dumb. However, Loren never once made it seem like we were inconveniencing him, despite the many changes, phone calls and texts along the way. He was always very upfront about getting us ballpark pricing before giving him the "green light" and respected that we were trying to be budget-conscious, while still building our dream home. While all of the Cascade West employees we worked with were professional and patient, the subs were also equally attentive and communicative. Most of all, they were on time! The framers literally worked Thanksgiving Day as well as many weekends. Jason estimated our project would take 5.5-6months and it was just about exactly 6 months despite our many changes and additions. If I could give them less than one star I would. My grandmother hired them last year to build her custom home but in regards to custom home building they are more like spec home builders. They didn't have much knowledge when it came to custom home features and they had excuses for everything. They also had no concern about her satisfaction with the end result. Many of the custom features she requested were not done. My grandmother paid for an upgraded disposal in the kitchen but the thing runs and sounds like a cheap, noisy appliance that doesn't work properly. There was a "custom" built-in entertainment center which doesn't have the proper setup for cord hookup and she must now hire someone to complete what they should have thought to do. The place was dirty when she moved in, dust and debris everywhere both inside and outside which she had to clean herself. Gutters need repair but they refuse to fix them and now she is forced to hire another contractor to fix something they completed poorly. The communication between the project manager, the subs, and the vendors was extremely poor. There are true custom builders out there but this company is not one of them. I do not recommend using this company if you want a true custom home or contractors that are detail oriented. read more

I wish there was a way to give negative stars. This company is horrible and I wouldn't recommend them to build a dog house. They built 2 and are currently building another home in our subdivision and all customers have the same complaints. They severely miscalculate, every single budget item, then make it seem like you are bugging them when questioned. Their craftsmanship is shotty, at best. We hired a home inspector, to inspect our brand new custom home, and he had 60 pages of things found. Some small, but some very large items, like a whole portion of house did not have attic insulation. Eventhough I was told the insulation was completed. Their sales person is a complete lier and will tell you anything to get you to sign. Don't believe a word they say, if it isn't in writing. As if their profit isn't enough, they will go so far to try and scam money off the top of other budget items. I have email traffic where, when caught in a lie, they try to cover it up by saying, "oh that's how we normally charge..." Horrible business practice, terrible customer service, and even worse service after the sale. DO NOT BUILD WITH CASCADE WEST!!! read more

I was willing to work with Cascade West due to the number of floorplans they had to offer. When I reached out, the salesman, Ron, recommended a site evaluation, which made sense, since their "experts" would be able to help us determine what the best floorplan for our sight and tastes would be. However, when I told him what our final budget was (which was over $550k), he became aloof and rather snide. When I asked to schedule the site evaluation, he made it clear that he was not available on weekends but he could send someone else. Fine, but when I tried to schedule it via email, I got no response. When I called, he said he was in a meeting and would call me right back. Again, nothing. Hard to believe they have enough business to turn away work. The floorplans are all from Mascord Designs - which actually provides the same plans to MANY builders in the area; no need to deal with the rude attitude...moving on to another builder. read more
