A DEMOLISHING COMPANY WITH A HEART!…read more I can't say enough good things about Affordable Environmental, the owner Tony Chase, and his work crew. I've been trying off and on to leave a review and finally figured it out. In Spring 2023, Tony was hired to demolish a condemned 1930's farm house on my property that needed to come down. Everything was done on time, responsibly, and by the book, with asbestos abatement included. All for a very competitive price. And then the big twist happened, which really confirmed Tony's stellar reputation: After being told by the asbestos workers that there may be an old log cabin underneath the farm house, Tony took his time and "skinned" the side off, rather than just demolishing everything. He was able to do so because he is very skilled with a track hoe; it was like watching an artist at work! And sure enough, underneath was a solid log cabin structure that our local historical society estimates to be an old logging cabin from circa 1870's. Intact cabins like this are very hard to find and a historic preservationist is currently conducting research to confirm the age and ownership. But Affordable Environmental, aka Tony Chase, didn't stop there. Tony felt very strongly about keeping this historic find safe during the winter so it wouldn't deteriorate. He volunteered the materials and staff time to construct a roof structure, wrap the building in plastic, and install one of his own large dehumidifiers to keep it dry inside. And it's working! Research on this historic logging cabin can continue and perhaps grants can be found to preserve the structure for the long term. Thank you Tony Chase and the AE crew!

Dry Guys Restoration and Optimus Property Solutions have left…read moreus physically sick, financially devastated (over $10,000 lost), and displaced from our home -- twice. We moved into our apartment in late October 2024 and almost immediately found severe water damage, black mold, and extreme humidity. The discoveries spiraled into CAT3 mold, major water damage, and rotted sills/studs in the wall, despite property management claiming the apartment to be mold free, leak free, clean, and inspected prior to moving in. Dry Guys "inspected" the unit on November 8, 2024 -- and 170 days later, the repairs are still incomplete. I warned both companies about my autoimmune disease, epilepsy, and health sensitivities to mold -- but they ignored it. I ended up hospitalized during this ordeal. Dry Guys' workmanship was horrific: * Flooring was incorrectly installed with gaps sloppily filled with caulk. * Countertops were installed chipped and left sticky with residue. * Plumbing failed repeatedly -- the garbage disposal didn't work, the sink leaked, the faucet wasn't installed correctly. * They built the countertop too short, then shaved down the support beam to force fit our dishwasher (likely compromising its stability). * Containment was a joke: the barriers failed repeatedly, letting dust and spores spread through our entire apartment. During the restoration process, the subfloor was left exposed, we had no access to our kitchen for months, and temperatures dropped during winter -- yet neither company declared the unit uninhabitable, even when it legally was. Kashia from Optimus Property Solutions told us they couldn't do anymore than refund rent and some cleaning fees, stating, "the owner has put thousands and thousands of dollars into repairs" -- while the owner publicly bragged on Instagram about turning a $400k purchase into a $1 million valuation on our complex. His website bio even highlights how he became a millionaire at 32. Clearly, protecting profits mattered more than protecting tenant safety. After a "alleged" second leak surfaced, the companies ignored us again -- refusing to open walls, ignoring dripping sounds and mold smells, and brushing off standing water beneath the apartment. We were told, there's no leak, not our problem -- while condensation puddled on our windows, the smell once again destroyed our items, our clothing grew wet inside drawers, and puddles gathered under our apartment. In short: * Dry Guys Restoration's work was rushed, unsafe, and incomplete. *Dry Guys left a complete mess behind that I'm still cleaning up to this day, and wouldn't properly fix the work they had poorly executed. They refunded $294, which I had to fight for, it took forever to get the check, and doesn't begin to cover for our time, emotional distress, sickness, or damages. * Optimus Property Solutions protected profits over tenant health and legal responsibilities. * We were left sick, homeless, financially drained, and traumatized while the "alleged" leak is still in our apartment and NO ONE is taking responsibility or trying to fix it. Avoid these companies at all costs if you care about your health, safety, or sanity. *Will update with any changes* *This post reflects my personal experience and opinions*

Work was done on schedule and very carefully, cleanup inside and outside the house each day was thorough. And Mike was extremely helpful with his onsite estimate. AEC was the only estimator we talked to who told us about the ZAI Trust, which processes claims for residential asbestos insulation removal and re-insulating costs if material tests positive for their product. That's a big deal. Would recommend AEC services without hesitation.

We were assured that if the pipes were not wrapped with asbestos material that there would be a substantial reduction in the bid. However, we did not find out that they don't actually do asbestos testing until two days before the project was to start. Luckily, I was able to get the testing done the next day and sent them the results which showed we were negative for asbestos. Unfortunately, it turned out that our boiler still had some water in it and the workers had to pause while it drained. In spite of that, the project was still completed in less than three days, but American Environmental refused to provide the promised discount. In addition, there was piping to be removed which was marked with a magic marker by the supervisor. The markings were complicated to decipher but the supervisor in charge assured us he would be there to instruct the crew. He did not show up and has since denied that he said he would be there. The result was confusion among the workers as to which segments they needed to remove. We had to contact the contractor, who sent a boiler expert over to work with the crew. We have tried to resolve this issue with American Environmental, and obtain the promised cost reduction, but their responses were rude and intractable. I would not recommend them.

Three items--a partial curtain rod, crib hardware, and a stepping ladder--went missing after the period their crew had exclusive access to my home. A value of $373.96 from a $41,019.80 bill. I have timestamped photos showing these items being present before work began and during, and missing after their crew finished. Despite providing this evidence and a detailed timeline, the company repeatedly denied responsibility, suggesting the items may have been moved before their arrival, even though we had not lived in the home and no other work had occurred during that time. It makes no sense for us to lose these 3 random items as they claimed when there were much more valuable items in the impacted room. The company promised comprehensive documentation of all items handled for insurance purposes, but what I received was incomplete and inconsistent. Some photos were sent to my husband, and there was no clear record of items removed from certain rooms and where they placed each item in the kitchen. When issues were raised, the company provided shifting explanations and ultimately refused to reimburse the $373.96 replacement cost for the missing items. Additionally, I had to correct a previous billing error where I was charged for all quoted hours that were not worked. This, combined with the poor communication and lack of accountability, left me with no confidence in their professionalism or customer service. I am sharing this experience so other homeowners are aware of the risks and documentation issues. If you expect clear records and accountability, I recommend considering another company.
