I would've given a five star review but the service was very slow and 2 stars at best. It could have been more prompt and efficient. We waited for seven minutes before our first acknowledgement by our waiter/ server. It was just my girlfriend and myself. Once the waiter finally came to the table and took our order a lot time had lapse. Never once did come to ask how the food was once our main entrée was delivered. He asked how everything was when he presented the check. During the wait for him to return to the table to take our dessert order, there was a bus boy at the nearby table clearing another table. I asked him to take a plate that was left on our table and he said that the servers job I don't do that. I told him no you need to take it now and he gave me a rather rude look and stare. The intervals from which the waiter came back to the table was very long. It would've helped if the chairs had been padded but they were hard with like school room chairs. The dining room was decorated very nice and the decor and artwork is very tasteful. Music was a little loud. The food was exceptionally good from the appetizer to the main course to our dessert. It was exceptional. That is five stars ONLY - The service really was a lot to be desired for a good tip and review.

Danville was named the Hendricks County seat because the city sits directly in the middle of the county. The neoclassical style courthouse was designed by Clarence Martindale (Indianapolis) and constructed by P. H. McCormack Co. (Columbus, Indiana). The exterior is made from Indiana limestone. The building opened in 1914. The interior features Italian marble throughout, including the spiral staircases that ascend three levels. The stained glass in the beautiful dome and other glass features was fabricated by Indiana Glass out of Kokomo. Victorian-era light fixtures were imported from France. A War honor roll lines a wall in the center atrium of the courthouse. The Deputies that monitor the building standout from other courthouses in Indiana. The deputies are intensely proud of the courthouse and willing to share information. One of the deputies gave a me fabulous tour of the closed Circuit Court. I was humbled by her kindness. The County has done a remarkable job of preserving the Circuit Court in the original 1914 condition. A priceless and moving mural by Edgar Alvin Payne and Elsie Palmer Payne of George Rogers Clark's 1779 Liberation of Vincennes hangs in the rear of the courtroom. The original Victorian piano used for weddings sits under the mural. Benches and chairs are all original. Outside the main entrance is a replica of the Liberty Bell. On the northeast corner of the square stands a modest War Memorial listing the names of those lost in combat. A lovely fountain stands on the northwest corner of the square. There is plenty of free parking around the square. The public entrance is fully accessible. This is one of my favorite courthouses that I've visited. The fabulous deputy staff and the amazing interior put the building at the top of must see list for anyone that lives history.

The current courthouse is the fourth to be constructed. It was completed in 1914. The three story building is constructed with Indiana limestone and faces north. The center sections have a portico with an arched entrance and two large columns that rise from a balcony on the second story. The interior has a large rotunda with a stained glass skylight. There are a number of other interior decorations in the courtrooms but those were closed on this Friday afternoon. Maybe I'll visit next time when it's open! The Square is small with war memorials on the corners and thoughtfully landscaped. The Neoclassical structure was commissioned in 1903 and designed by notable architect, John W. Gaddis of Vincennes, Indiana. The limestone building was commissioned in 1905 at a final cost of $144,997.38, according to a plaque inside. Inside, the atrium floor is tiled. Marble staircases ascend up two flights with incredible alabaster carved bannisters. The building is immaculate and well preserved with plaques memorializing the Revolutionary War and Spinach American War fallen soldiers. There are several important murasl in the building. One of Lady Justice that hangs on the second floor outside the court rooms. A leaded glass dome overhead is the centerpiece of the atrium. The highlight of my visit was seeing the mostly original 1905 courtroom. A deputy made the visit possible, as court was not in session. The courtroom was filled with original oak chairs for jurors and iron/oak benches for spectators. A powerful mural of King Solomon passing judgement on a child claimed by two women was on a front wall. An antique harp stood in the corner ready for weddings. The courtroom has been maintained incredibly. I felt like I had taken a step back in time. Two deputies, a clerk and even a judge took time out of their day to speak with me about the courthouse. There was a strong sense of pride as they described various parts of the courthouse and recommended places to see. My heart is warmed when I meet people as friendly as I met in Greencastle. The Square outside is interesting with little shops. A vacant bank on the corner was the site of John Derringer's robberies. There is street parking around the Square. The Putnam County Courthouse is well worth a visit if you like architecture, history and Midwest hospitality.

This includes spending time in the Putnam County Courthouse. The Putnam County Courthouse is located in Greencastle, Indiana. Greencastle is a college town and home to DePauw University (which is known as one of the first Indiana universities to treat women equally in terms of admission, etc. when it was known as Asbury University). Katherine A's review of the courthouse includes many of the basics regarding this historic building commissioned and designed by John W. Gaddis in 1905 at a cost of $144,997.38. I agree with Katherine's assessment that this is a pretty amazing building. It's located on the town square. There's plenty of parking around the building and on surrounding streets. When I arrived this past week, there was road construction going on around the building. I was able to find a disabled parking spot on a side street that allowed me to get my wheelchair out - I noticed that drivers were quite considerate. Traffic was far from busy, especially by Indy standards, but exercising caution is still important. Curb cuts are available all around the square. The courthouse has a nicely done concrete ramp - I think it's the east entrance. The double-sided doorway has an push-button, automatic entry. There's an elevator that should get you where you needed to go. As is true for most government buildings these days, there's security at the entrance and metal detectors. While thorough, they were also super friendly and helpful. I visited both the Recorder and the tax area. I couldn't accomplish all the tasks I needed (typically true of estates - it's a timely process), however, everyone I dealt with was friendly and helpful. The processes seemed somewhat informal. I could go through all the doors I needed to get through - the elevator is small, however, I was able to get my wheelchair in it. Because this is a historic building, many of the original or close to original features remain. I won't go into them as they're covered nicely in Katherine A's review. I will agree with her observation of the 1905 courtroom - it's a stunner and makes you think of many of those older 1950s courtroom dramas. I'm a fan of town squares. When I travel on my Tenderness Tour, I tend to visit them whenever I can. This one is framed nicely by the courthouse with several surrounding businesses, places to eat, etc. You can also capture a lot of the area's history - and I found most of the locals seem to know that history. Putnam County has a population of just over 36,000 and is a unique combination of farming, college town, and increasingly contemporary community. While I don't plan to move here, I always enjoy my visits and finally getting to see the Courthouse has been enjoyable and educational.

Every time we walk in, we are immediately greeted by the cheerful staff and warm, retro ambiance. There are so many things I love about Oasis, but I think the biggest thing is the true diner-style environment they have. Classic bar stools and a counter with several pies, cozy booths, and even outdoor seating! In the main dining area, the decor showcases all sorts of retro/vintage history with 8-tracks, vinyls, and license plates from decades past. As they are also along the Historic National Road, their menu reflects the other cities along the highway with their breakfast combos! If you want a different route to get here, they are also situated right along the White Lick Creek Trail, so it's an easy walk (or bike) across the pedestrian bridge to some delicious American food! As well as the ambiance I've discussed, I also love that they are a frequent participant of the Devour Indy promotions, as the promotions and deals they offer are well worth it! Over the many times I've been here, I've tried quite a few things off their menu, and they have a lot! Prices are very reasonable (I think they have gone up just a smidge since I've been there but nothing too crazy). If you stop in the morning (or any time, really) their cappuccino is AMAZING! I just get a basic cappuccino, but there are additional flavors you can add (Toffee and French Vanilla are two that I remember). Their burgers are always cooked to perfection, and the fries are a joy to eat (especially if you get the loaded fries!). Overall, this is a restaurant that is truly one of my all-time favorites and I will go out of my way to stop and have a meal here.

The main reason I want to review this place is because it was SO cheap. I mean, you could eat here three times a week for the price of going to any other restaurant once per week. I appreciated this diner for being one of few restaurants that just serves bare bones, basic food for cheap.
