I had my hair cut with an older oriental lady and it was the most terrible cut I have ever had in my life. She did not understand what I wanted and could not communicate in English. She used only the trimmer and very little scissors cutting. i have gaping gaps at the back. Despite my repeated requests to do a medium hair cut she never listened and totally butchered the job. Visited this location for 7 years. The haircut quality has severely declined over the last year and I will not be back.

Today I got the worst haircut since basic training. After showing the lady a video of what I wanted my hair to look like after the haircut, I was scalped. Virtually no hair left on parts of my head. I have been going to Cascades Barbershop for few years. Used to go to Sunny who was excellent. Now I have tried Tina, who does not know how to give a haircut. Don't know if she has a license. The owner, James is now out of touch. He quickly mows the hair, doing a quick mow every 15 minutes. Today, he practically shaved off all my hair in a hurry. Worst outcome ever in my life. Now I look like a punk, thanks to James, instead of a professional with a doctorate. I can't even take off to let my hair grow out. This barbershop should lose its license. read more

I don't what's up with the reviews. One of the women gave me the worst haircut I've ever had. I asked her to cut 2 inches off the top and front and then I'd reassess how much I want taken off. She repeated what I asked for and proceeded to take the clippers and shave the side of my head. I immediate recoiled and asked her what she was doing. She had assumed I wanted the sides and back trimmed. But I didn't. I had gotten a haircut one week earlier so I was content with the sides and back. Long story short, I ended up leaving with an unfinished cut and walked out and now am walking around looking like Macklemore. I'm getting it cut again as soon as I can. I don't think I can wait until the weekend. Like the previous guy wrote, they don't understand what "blend" means. Which is what I kept asking her to do after she had already jacked up my hair. I came here after leaving a Barber in Dulles Town Center the day before and leaving another Barbershop close by. I didn't have the time nor patience to play Barbershop shop games with Diva Barbers at the other shops. Games as in they're on the phone talking, cutting slow, not wanting to cut your hair if they don't know you. Came to cascades and walked right in. Dan had a customer in the chair and one leaving but Hana right next to him had just finished a customer and I was next. I told her what I wanted and she took it from there. Mid skin fade, dark on top! Needless to say she gave me exactly what I asked for! Not having to look in the mirror excessively long to she if she missed a spot or whatever. I've never had a more attentive person cut my hair. You might not know what the ladies here are saying, but they are meticulous with your hair. I'm just a regular guy, standard cut. But the lady that cut my hair did all kinds of layering and touch-ups that I'd never had before. I thought she was all done for $15 after the last few touch-up cuts. But then she slathered some hot shaving cream on my neck and sideburns and gave me a blade shave that was awesome. Then I got a hot towel on the neck and she styled my hair with gel. This stuff all came standard with my cut. I've paid $30+ for worse haircuts from chain stores. Forget the value you're getting here, you get a good haircut period. They had cut my hair lopsided and made it super super poor. With pretty much nothing else to lose, I walked in to the Cascades Barber Shop and it is one of the best experiences I've ever had. Like the others have said there is a small language barrier, but these guys know exactly what they're doing. Brought my two boys for a simple haircut with a fade on the sides and back. After my first son finished his cut, I noticed major chunks not cut evenly. I showed it to the barber and he said, it was hard since he had curly hair. He then moved on to the next customer. The other barber tried "fixing" it but didn't get right still. I was a little skeptical after walking in and finding a language barrier (neither of the people there appeared very talkative or able to speak English), but what they lacked in conversation that made up for in customer care. By good timing a chair was available and HAO sat me down and asked what I wanted, short discussion (with a small language barrier) and he got to work.
