Central Bark Rochester - We love seeing Central Bark's daily Facebook post of the pups that day!

When we got our new puppy we wanted to make sure she was well socialized and used to spending days without us in case we both end up with office jobs again (I work from home). She's routinely gotten praise and she comes home the happiest and the most tired. And also stinky, but people who leave a bad review for a stinky dog are ignoring that when a dog plays hard they're rolling in dirt, water, and spit, let alone if you've got one with a penchant for sticking their head in a "stream" (Riza). For us, when we toured the facility was very clean, and they take and post pictures daily of all the pups and even with all the dogs running around all day it's always super clean. The staff are all super friendly and seem to really love their jobs -- or at least really love the dogs so you'd never know. Central Bark is also on the ball with keeping track of vaccinations & will mention if you've got something close to expiring - an added perk for sure since it's easy to miss an email from the vet. For safety reasons, Central Bark asks that you come on as regular a schedule as possible - this keeps their play groups fairly consistent and let's the dogs develop friendships and not be constantly introducing brand new dogs to each other every single day. It also helps with your own routines at home. By doing this, we've found that Riza has made her own friends and has a few doggies that she just LOVES at daycare. It's always fun to see the regulars in the pictures with her. I love them, I think their prices are reasonable and well worth it, and I hope to let Riza come to daycare for as long as we possibly can. Attached are photos from central barks Facebook page of Riza playing in their facility

We had used Leashes & Leads for boarding and daycare for our previous dog and were very happy with…read morethem. The employees seemed to really enjoy and care about dogs. However, last week was a terrible experience. We left our two Border Terriers with Leashes & Leads to stay for several nights while we were a couple hours away for business meetings. Our dogs are a 5-year-old brother and sister pair who are very bonded; they'd never been apart and were supposed to be kept in the same kennel. I told the staff that our dogs wrestle and play-fight several times a day--they love to do that and if you have Borders, you know what I'm talking about. I also left Benadryl for the staff to give them if they were anxious while we were gone. They've been fine being periodically boarded since they were one year, so they have a track record of doing fine in kennels. A few hours after we left them, we got a text that the staff had fed our dogs some other dogs' food, which we appreciated their letting us know. Then the next morning, we got a text that the staff was separating our dogs due to fighting. No amount of explaining that our dogs just play that way got through to the woman who called. I know how anxious our dogs get when they're apart from each other, so I drove two hours back to get them. (No one had given them anything for their anxiety as I'd instructed.) A surly, hostile woman named F***h checked us out, overcharging us by a lot. We finally got some of the wrong charges removed but still got charged $66 as a late fee on top of their other charges. I had to ask several times for an itemized statement before she grudgingly gave me one. She also seemed like she did not like our dogs, which was especially concerning. Our dogs are HIGHLY motivated by play and food, but for many hours after I got them, they refused to eat treats or play--they were really stressed. I don't know if they were just traumatized from being separated or if something else happened, as well. Like I said, Leashes & Leads was great in the past, but unless the owner can assure us that F***h and any other employees who are hostile to dogs and people are no longer employed there, we'll not use them again.

I've had nothing but troubles and have heard nothing but bad things about them…read more I applied here 4 TIMES. And every single time I was "forgotten about." As an applicant. I did 2 tours of the place (because they couldn't even remember that I had done one previously.) both times I toured (months apart) the entire back room reeked of urine and feces, too many dogs in one area with not enough staff to adequately care for the dogs, dogs humping each other, fighting, handlers shocking the crap out of dogs with e-collars to the point they were yelping and jumping in pain. (They never mentioned training for their employees on these devices so I assume they just slap them on and hope it does the trick), dogs frightened in corners of the room and a "jail" as they called it for dogs to go when they are aggressive. I've worked at other kennels and I've never seen one run like this. I was told recently that they are under new management so hopefully that helps but this place seems like a train wreck. When I went for my first interview I was approached by one of the groomers who offered me a position (I had no grooming experience at the time) and she said that they hated their jobs and were basically wrestling dogs to get them in the bath. I've heard horror stories of dogs coming back with broken or lame legs and paws, dogs not getting medications, staff putting senior dogs with rowdy teenage dogs, and many accounts of infections, parasites and illnesses contracted here. Staff are allowed to sit on their phones during playtime and when I toured, that's EXACTLY what all of them were doing. Sitting in chairs, on their phones, and when a dog misbehaved they would throw it in jail or shock it with an e collar.

They took time and answered all our questions. Then took us on a tour of the property and explained play time and how they make sure they observe the dogs first before putting them with other dogs. As we walked the property it was clean and the play areas were well kept. There is always someone on the property with the dogs. The day we picked King up he seemed fine and relaxed and I also noticed that King's nails were trimmed. They really do look after the dogs and went above and beyond. We will definitely using them again!!!!

Left three days worth of food, special brand as he has a sensitive digestive system, treats, and his arthritis medicine. We get a call Sunday evening telling us our dog growled at the young caretaker, and they would not be letting our dog out of his kennel. Luckily we were only in Wisconsin and woke up at 4:30 AM to head home. When we picked our dog up, less than one serving of food was missing, no treats or medicine was given either. Maybe he did growl from hunger? The diarrhea has not subsided, so there will be a vet bill to add to this adventure. Seems completely at odds with the positive review they got last year. Very distressing situation.
