Including the desserts. I loved it so much that I excitedly tweeted to them that I would singlehandedly keep a restaurant open in Brighton. And they replied to me telling me to wait. Well... the wait is over! Today I was invited to the opening of the new Leon Restaurant in Brighton which replaces Eat. I think this is a brilliant swap as Eat was far too similar to its neighbour Pret. But Leon is quite different in that it offers warm, hearty food. Setting up just before winter is also probably a good move. The decor is really nice and chilled out. They make good use of the space which I've previously found a bit dark and claustrophobic. Katy and I were greeted by some of the nice workers at Leon and told we could each choose a meal and drink to have on the house. We both went for the Moroccan Meatballs (on my recommendation). I had a lemonade to drink and Katy went for a green smoothie. We also picked up a few sweet treats: my favourite lemon and ginger slice and a billionaire shortbread for Katy. The meatballs are my favourite so I knew I would like them, but Katy had never been to a Leon and she loved it as well. She began talking about how close it is to her work and how she will be able to pop in on breaks for a relatively healthy and warm meal. We also tried searching for the menu online and a sneaky link to Deliveroo popped up. So we're hoping they're going to be one of our delivery options soon.

I am currently sitting in the restaurant eating Fish and Chips as a I write this. The fish is so crispy but so fresh on the inside and the french fries are perfect. You can walk in off the street at 3 in the morning, order mussels in a garlic and cream sauce, and finish that bottle of Pinot as the sun comes up: a unforgettable experience for so many reasons. The chief reason to go to Buddies is the fabled Buddies all-nighter: grab some friends, head to Buddies at a reasonable hour, and don't leave until the morning traffic has subsided. This is bloody marvellous, for easedropping potential if nothing else: the people who frequent are an eclectic and wonderful bunch. Last time I did this, a man punched a woman over a dog, some drunk students threw up on each other, and a man proposed only to be unsurprisingly turned down. What do you expect? It's on the seafront, it's open all night: who are they gonna attract? Drunk people and insomniacs, and neither really wants to be there. The menu is huge: most of it is awful. Stick to chips and well-cooked to avoid a premature end to your all-nighter. And if you've been clubbing, and want to stay up, pop in here to end the night with a more sanitary alternative to the kebab dripping down your shirt on the long, meandering walk home.

Order yourself a late night Pizza, or grab some tasty chips, just don't I repeat don't go to RFC! Its in a prime location for people to congregate at due to the placement of Buses and taxi's, but that's all it has going for it... Its not like I have ever seen this place in the cold light of a sober day either. I literally had no idea where this place even was until I looked it up on Yelp. Some how, the torrents of friends that have lead me to its doors as we stumble beneath our unwieldy legs have managed to convince me that 80's music is good, and that Doctor Who can actually be quite emotional, but NEVER that RFC would be a good idea at any time of night. I'm not big on fast food at any time, especially when I'm drunk... But I give this 2* because I know that even on the fast food scale of rating nosh, this doesn't score well... If you're heading home from the sea, drop in a Chippy on the way home. They'll be quicker, tastier and you won't miss a bus hanging around waiting for your friends.

I cannot tell whether she is arguing with me, asking for my help or perhaps has accidentally butt dialed me. Then I hear the words that every man wants to hear. "Do you want some chicken bringing home?" What a wonderful woman. Yes, I do want some chicken bringing home. I don't care if I ran 5 miles earlier. I don't care if I can't out-train a bad diet. It is 4 am and chicken is a divine treat for this time of morning. So I ask for a chicken wrap. But don't worry about the fries or drink. I am trying to eat better. She brings me home chicken, chips and a can of Coke. Then, she takes a bite of a chicken wing and falls asleep mid-chew. So I eat her chicken too. I eat it all. Because it's 4 am and it's the weekend. You will probably never eat at RFC at any other time than 4 am, on a weekend. The chicken is ok. Often it's a bit dry. The chicken wraps are my favorite. I like the mayonnaise here. It's hot and gooey. They don't really put any salad in the wrap though, just a few scraps of sorry-for-itself lettuce. The little RFC bags will sometimes come with sachets of salt, a toothpick, a lemon hand wipe and a serviette. I finish off the chips, freshen my face with the hand wipe and tuck myself into bed.

A…read moreblessing because, let's face it, these are some of the best burgers I've ever tasted, and a nightmare because it's going to be hard not to get one every single day... Set up in a tiny, shack-like kitchen just beside the Giggling Squid, Brighton Burger serves hearty, honest, flavoursome food. Their menu is wonderful, hosting many unusual eats and obscure burgers - from wild boar to buffalo- but they also server your usual burger and fries to a very high standard. The burgers themselves are almost moist and full of flavour. So moist, in fact, that my takeaway burger soaked through the paper bag (my only teeny complaint!). This can be forgiven though, for as soon as you bite into the juicy burger, cuddled by sweet, soft bun and topped with whatever glorious accompaniments you opted for, everything can be forgiven. Literally everything. This last visit had me trying out the buffalo burger, which was absolutely delicious! Not as different tasting as you might expect it to be, but certainly different enough that you notice you're tasting something new and out of the ordinary! I added chips to my order and they came out, all thin and crispy, just how I like them! I almost typed there were 'too many chips' there, but let's be honest there's no such thing. There were loads of them though, in one portion, so maybe share between two if your appetite is not massive! The man who served me was pleasant (they always are!) and the service was quick and painless. The burger and chips came to around £8 which, though not the cheapest in Brighton, is so so reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of the food here! There's also a few tables and chairs dotted out by the front of the place, so you can sit in the sun (when it's about) and enjoy your burger in peace, watching the world go by! If you're in Brighton and you haven't tried these burgers then, firstly, shame on you, and secondly TRY THEM. I'll eat my hat if you're not impressed and back again for seconds the next week! :P

This is a call for burger pluralism. As Sophie said, Brighton Burger is equally good in a different way. Every burger here is special. At first glance each one of them could have come from a different restaurant. Most visibly, the buns are completely distinct. All time favorites are of course the Brighton Burger and the Ranch. There is something here for you regardless of what kind of burger you like. Purists ought to grab the eponymous Brighton Burger, but even if you want pulled pork there's a sandwich for you in the Tennesse Terror. Rest assured, the patties are succulent, the unique buns are always on point, and the veg is top notch. Just look at the photos and try this place out.

I was super hungry and this was the first place I spotted - it's had a refurb so I thought I'd have a little nosey around. First thing I noticed, there is a lot less seating downstairs than before. Maybe this is because less people are eating at Maccy D's these days? Secondly, and this is a big one - you don't get served by a human any more! You have to go to this massive touchscreen device, select the food that you want and pay for it at the machine. It then dispenses a ticket with a number on it which you then hand over when your number is called. (It's like Argos but for food). I guess it's just another business that has had human interaction taken away from it. Less jobs for people, worse customer service. By the way, my cheeseburger was poorer than average, and my fries were stone cold. (No change there then!)

If you fancy a toastie of nearly any variety, or a do-it-yourself salad, or a slice of home-made cake, this little sandwich bar with a twist is for you. There is so much here I could wax lyrical about... The toasties, the main focus of the menu, range from single-slice chocolate or cinnamon toasts to elaborate, multi-slice sandwich specials, and are all hand-made on order. The wait is short, and the quality exceptional. I personally recommend the Gourmet Specials: each of them is a triple-decker toasted sandwich, with more than one fresh and local ingredient - heavenly! The prices are very reasonable, for the toasties as well as the salads (which, I'll admit, I've never tried, but look delicious), the home-made cakes (yep, home-made on the premises) and the various sundries. All of the local and home-made flavour is packaged beautifully in a modern, hip-looking locale, an old-townhouse adapted into a sizeable seating area, although the very modern, Swedish-looking seating arrangement takes a little getting used to. My advice: sit at the outdoor tables in Market Square and soak up the rays in this very pleasant part of town. This little sandwich bar is everything you hope for from a local business, and a truly brilliant alternatively to the local Starbucks, Costa, etc. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

The lady that served me was friendly and chatty, and was rather incredulous that I'm at university, and even more so when I said I was 21. One day these boyish good looks of mine (cough) will win me something other than a mild feeling of prepubescence. But anyway, the interior of Toasters is also quite fresh and comfortable, and is certainly a place you can feel happy about having a bite to eat and relaxing in. I was a little pensive at first when I looked at the price board, but the quality of the food certainly made up for it, and there's a loyalty card of sorts that allows you to get a free sandwich after having bought six. Not a bad thing in anyone's books!
