When I arrived at the Del Mar location, staff told me the trial was not accepted and instead offered me a one-week paid pass. I agreed, signed some paperwork, and had my photo taken--under the impression that this was only for one week of access. I only used the gym once, as I found the facility lacking, the atmosphere unwelcoming, and the staff unfriendly. Two weeks later, I began receiving calls claiming my account was past due. When I followed up, I was shocked to learn that I had supposedly been signed up for a full-year contract instead of a one-week pass as I was told. When I tried to resolve the issue, the general manager refused to make it right. I was told I would need to pay $188.08 to close the account--"discounted" to $108.08--or the balance would be sent to collections. Despite clearly explaining the situation, I was treated as though I was at fault. After speaking with other military personnel, I found that this has happened to several of them as well. This seems to be a recurring pattern at Gold's Gym Laredo, and I would caution others--especially service members--to be extremely careful before signing anything at this location.

It took months just to fix the toilet seat in the men's room. Most of the cardio equipment has been broken for over a year. Half the weights are missing their identifying numbers. The only time he seems to care is when the carnival comes to the LEC so he can charge people $5/car to park while the gym customers can't find a spot. Trust me, there are several good gyms in Laredo where the management genuinely believes about customer service. Save your money...Stay away from fuel.

This will be the 2nd month they charge me when I paid for the first month and cancelled as instructed. Each person I speak to says a different thing so here I am with 2 months that I haven't used and cancelled by the 24th as initially instructed and they blame the system. I don't recommend this place to anyone they are stealing/scamming potential new customers. No one here is helpful it's almost like this is planned. Terrible customer service terrible staff.

Do not get a membership at this gym!…read more I informed the then "manager" I was prepaying one year for a membership and only one year, cause you know how gyms keep charging you for a membership cause eventually you will quit going but they don't want you to notice but they will keep charging. Guess what? I was charged after that one year and she wanted forms to be signed to quit. But I could have signed that form when I told that guy I'm only paying one year but he didn't give me that form. Used that member ship til that one year dude date. They could see it wasn't used and they wouldn't refund me the unused month. In addition I had to call like 3 times (one time they said a rep would call, second a left again name and number for a manager...) to speak to someone cause no one would call me back when I left a message abt the dilemma. The third time I got a GM - "Nina" and she informed me they are abt to charge me again. For a place that has an expensive membership you would think there is customer service If you do sign up, You can't use it at the other location unless you pay an additional fee. Besides my fee complaint. Good luck getting a machine or a parking space during "peak" times.
