I was in Laredo for one week on work travel and signed up online for the 7-day free trial at Gold's Gym. When I arrived at the Del Mar location, staff told me the trial was not accepted and instead offered me a one-week paid pass. I agreed, signed some paperwork, and had my photo taken--under the impression that this was only for one week of access. I only used the gym once, as I found the facility lacking, the atmosphere unwelcoming, and the staff unfriendly. Two weeks later, I began receiving calls claiming my account was past due. When I followed up, I was shocked to learn that I had supposedly been signed up for a full-year contract instead of a one-week pass as I was told. When I tried to resolve the issue, the general manager refused to make it right. I was told I would need to pay $188.08 to close the account--"discounted" to $108.08--or the balance would be sent to collections. Despite clearly explaining the situation, I was treated as though I was at fault. After speaking with other military personnel, I found that this has happened to several of them as well. This seems to be a recurring pattern at Gold's Gym Laredo, and I would caution others--especially service members--to be extremely careful before signing anything at this location. read more

DON'T EVEN BOTHER I'm a vet, I served my country for several years. I still take my PT very seriously, I cycle up to 200 miles a week. Recently, I married and moved to Laredo and I was looking for a gym to incorporate lifting with my cycling routine. I " W A S " considering Golds until today. I saw an individual whom I'm certain was a trainer, but he certainly worked for the company, either way. He was clean cut and dressed, wearing the company uniform. I walked right up to him, looked at him face2face, and I said hello. He looked right back at me and flat out ignored me. I'm sorry, but when you're wearing the uniform for a company you work for, you represent that company. When you are rude in that uniform, the whole company looks bad. Worst gym you could go to !! They practically force you to get a contract for 2 years or you can't join the gym ! Half the machines are broken all the time and the staff never does anything about it . Not only that but they always said my payment didn't go through idk why they always had trouble with my payment. It gets worse they would always charge you b$&@@/:;T fees for nothing! Apparently it was a maintenance fee! I guess 60$ a month for 2 years isn't paying enough. During COVID they didn't wanna put my membership on home unless I didn't have a doctors note from a doctor in USA! Also staff isn't really helpful if your not rich or drive a fancy car from my point of view ! If you can avoid this place ! Glad I'm not in this gym anymore ! Best decision I ever did read more

Went to this gym with a whole frac crew. Asked if we could get a 7 day pass and was greeted with a pass then proceeded to work out for 3 days and bought shakes, drinks, etc. The next day we are told that we couldn't go in and the guys that had "corporate" golds gym memberships had to call our local gyms and have them send us a pass because they are a franchise and not with "corporate". Told the two guys working up front we already had passes and just wanted to work out. Was told the lady that helped us was new and that we couldn't go in, but could buy either a day pass for $15 or they highly recommended the 7 day pass for $32. Really? Went down the street to the San Isidro gym And without any hiccups were allowed to go in and the guys that didn't have passes were given 7 day passes and highly encouraged get a membership. Nice gym but rude staff and the first guy didn't know what he was talking about so had to go get another person. Wasted our time. read more

I was in town on business last week and decided to go in and inquire about a 'drop in' fee. I was given two different prices, one from the desk clerk, and one from the manager. I paid for a week membership. I should preface this by saying that a new Gold's Gym opened in my area not too long ago and I signed up for a 7-day trial membership for free. Aside from the young lady at the desk on the first day, the rest of the staff was not friendly and when I had a question about my membership transaction I was given a horrible attitude. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told that she WAS the manager and she could not do anything about my transaction issue. The manager would not speak to me as she was carrying on a conversation with the maintenance person. Second, the gym is really maintained poorly. None of the weights are re-racked, the crossfit area was a complete disaster with plates thrown everywhere and broken equipment. There were broken cable attachments, cables missing latches, and rusty squat racks. The rowing machine was not maintained well and was a rough row from being worn and the track not maintained. Overall, the management DOES NOT take care of this gym. Corporate should really take a look at this gym as it does NOT represent Gold's Gym in a positive light. read more

Great gym. I dont live in laredo anymore but everytime i come to visit, i hit up Gold's. Its big, tons of machines, all kinds of classes for the cardio freekz and ladies. They also have cross fit, a sauna (which i love) and a huge Ass lap pool, which i never use but swimmers do i guess. It gets pretty packed after 5 but they r finally building a second location which should help with the traffic. Oh and basketball court. Bang read more

Not a member, but have wanted to sign up...doesn't look like I will, I'll explain. I pay pool dues to use municipal pools in Laredo. Gold's gym has a lap swimming pool that has had issues with the heater working it seems like forever. This is information from members and ex-members. They recently fixed the pool and I went to inquire about membership fees. I explained that my main activity would be pool use, but would also do some strength training. I asked if they could ensure that the pool would remain working, and they replied they can't guarantee it. I then asked if they would be ok offering an out from my membership obligations if the pool broke down and was unfixed (as history has proven to be the case). Again, I explained that if the pool were to break down, I would again have to spend more money on the municipal pools. Management reply was "unfortunately we do not offer any kind of security with the pool since the membership includes many other things, its not just for the pool." I regret this approach as it doesn't seem they will stand by their product and creates distrust from potential members like me. Anyhow, the facility does seem exceptional...I just hoped they would be more willing to stand by their offerings. To each their own, on to other options. read more

I love working out here but maybe should consider getting some new gym equipment, and the woman's restroom Is dirty most times I go in. Other than that love the atmosphere and love to work out there and awesome shakes:) read more

I've been going to Gold's Gym for over a year and love the experience. Front desk staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Lady's Golds makes it a lot more comfortable to lift. I have used the cardio equipment, Lady's Gold, downstairs weights and took a Burn class. Overall awesome experience! read more

I am from out of town and needed a gym to go to for the day as I killed time. The staff was extremely friendly, I did not feel out of place, and got in an excellent work out. The equipment does seem on the older side, but hey, it all still works. I enjoyed my time here. read more

The staff is nice and the place is clean. My gripes are the following. 1, Gym temperature is uneven. One side of the weight floor is poorly ventilated (cooled) while the other is fine. It gets sticky and uncomfortable on warmer days. I reported this problem months ago and still no relief. 2. This gym doesn't replace worn handles for the cable machines often enough. There are cord type cables that have been frayed for months and they are still in use. Someone either doesn't care or isn't inspecting equipment and parts on a routine basis. For me this begs the question " are they even inspecting machines for safety"?. 3. This gym needs traffic safety signs, speed bumps.and traffic flow indicators. I've seen many instances of near crashed and children darting out into the parking lot. Some gym members drive too fast coming in or going out. There is no signage which is a recipiefor a serios accident in the future. read more
