This reflects poorly on the people who run this gym, but I suppose they are not fully to blame. You can expect the creepiest people to be all up in your personal space, barefoot people, phony boxers who love to make as much noise as they can on the bag, amateur weightlifters who come to socialize and slam weights, large amounts of annoying teenagers, etc, I promise you that this gym will have something to bother you with each visit. Would not recommend until management decides to do something about the disgusting clientele.

Apparently they are going to charge me for the next month because it's less than a 30 day notice before the next payment date, which is just a dirty way of extracting another payment. Then they never gave me the free month I was promised when I signed up. I asked when I first signed up about the free month promotion and they said it will be tacked on at the end of your contract, dirty I thought but whatever. Now 18 months later when I ask about that free month it was never applied because apparently someone never put the name of the person who originally referred me to get the free month. When I clearly mentioned the name the first time. I also don't believe that the free month required a referral but it was offered as perk to signing up. This is the shadiest company I have ever seen, professional scammers. If you do sign up with them, don't sign up for a long term contract, you're better off signing up with any other gym place. I feel so disrespected. Their response was they couldn't cover the free month because it doesn't show any notes in their end. So I pay the price for their employees mistakes. Unbelievable.

I came down here for work and decided to lift here for one month since this place was running a…read morespecial. I gotta say it exceeded my expectations. The building is cool looking, first of all. Second the staff is excellent. The guy who signed me up was really friendly and I got good vibes from him within minutes of showing up. A few visits later another dude came up to me and offered a free sample of a protein they sell. In all the years I've lifted this has never happened. I was impressed. You can see the other employees working as well. For the square footage of the building they have everything you need. I went during peak hours and there is a crowd but it wasn't the prison yard jungle I have fought through at other gyms. All in all a great place to lift if you're in the area.

When I arrived at the Del Mar location, staff told me the trial was not accepted and instead offered me a one-week paid pass. I agreed, signed some paperwork, and had my photo taken--under the impression that this was only for one week of access. I only used the gym once, as I found the facility lacking, the atmosphere unwelcoming, and the staff unfriendly. Two weeks later, I began receiving calls claiming my account was past due. When I followed up, I was shocked to learn that I had supposedly been signed up for a full-year contract instead of a one-week pass as I was told. When I tried to resolve the issue, the general manager refused to make it right. I was told I would need to pay $188.08 to close the account--"discounted" to $108.08--or the balance would be sent to collections. Despite clearly explaining the situation, I was treated as though I was at fault. After speaking with other military personnel, I found that this has happened to several of them as well. This seems to be a recurring pattern at Gold's Gym Laredo, and I would caution others--especially service members--to be extremely careful before signing anything at this location.

If you're looking for cardio machines and squat racks, this is the place for you. The Meh - Parking. It's a hassle, it's always flooded and filled. It almost feels like there is a concert or a festival close by. The second thing is staff, most of the staff feels like they either don't want to be there and unwelcoming. Sometimes they are chatting away with friends or are not at the front desk when you need them the most. However, there was a gentleman (I have not seen him in a while, I assume he no longer works for Crunch F.) that used to work there around 4am-5am that was always extremely welcoming, he would always have a quick chat with everyone that came in. I believe he was a janitor/maintenance there. The Bad - Equipment. It's good, it's satisfactory, but the gym is always packed. For the amount of people, that go to the gym throughout the day, there is simply no way to get a decent workout in without waiting for someone to finish using the equipment you've been wanting to use, with that being said, add an extra hour to your workout routine due to wait times and that's if you successfully are able to get to the equipment you are waiting for. Cancelling membership is another bad deal. In order to cancel membership, you have to speak to a manager from Mon-Fri 11am-4pm (I might be wrong on times). If you want to cancel during the weekend, you can't. You might have to ask for a day off or go during your hour lunch if you plan on cancelling.
