This is a regular stop for me on Tuesdays when I vacation in Leadville. The staff is always very kind, and they offer a $1.50 Taco Tuesday deal. While the tacos are a good value, their other menu items are even better. The margaritas are nice and strong, and the place is fun, well-decorated, and full of good vibes. Great Mexican food and tons of choices! A group of six of us went there for supper. We all had a different dish and were extremely please with the quality and the portions. Cute spot in downtown Leadville. Unassuming and simple. Highlights: Many sizes for margarita options. The skinny marg was GREAT! The house was average. Portions are HUGE! Chips and salsa with service. Both salsas were spicy. But the red one really brought the heat and flavor. Carne Asada Taco Fajita salad Lowlights: The Mexican rice leaves a lot to be desired. It tastes instant, with unnatural sweetness. It could be so much more!!!! The grain was nice at least, not mushy. Refried beans could use a boost to make them less ordinary. High praise still. Great service and good food. I wanted to have a smaller meal because the altitude knocks my appetite down to zero, so I was happy to see that there were combos offered here. I ordered a tamale combo that came with rice and beans. It was very delicious and flavorful. The rice was really fluffy and the tamale itself cooked perfectly. One small issue I had was that the beans had melted cheese on top. I cannot eat cheese, so although I do wish that it was disclosed on the menu, it wasn't the biggest deal and I simply picked it off. read more

There's a couple great spots to eat around here and this one is definitely high up on my list of places to eat in Leadville now. Their food is great and they have a lot of options to choose from as well. The biggest positive for me here was that the portions were huge, especially for what you pay. I visited Casa Sanchez for taco Tuesday in Leadville a few days ago. The service was really good, the shredded chicken tacos were as follows. Looked good, because they were overloaded with toppings. The shredded chicken, however, was impossibly bland. I imagine if my goal was to make the most bland chicken possible, I would just boil chicken breast in plain water, drain it, shred it, and put it on a taco. Come on guys! You can do better than that. The addition of salt to the chicken would've at least made it palatable. So a nice looking taco with lots of toppings and some so-called chicken that tasted like shredded cardboard. The only reason I'm giving two stars is because of the service and the toppings. read more

The best service I've had at any eatery anywhere. Seriously. Everything was fast. Getting seated was fast. Getting our order was fast. Getting our food was fast. And it was all friendly and polite and we didn't feel rushed. I also loved the food. This is a Tex Mex treatment (not a dirty word/phrase for me) and it's a well done one. Staying in town for a long weekend and thought we'd try this out. Happy we did! Spacious inside with very friendly staff. We had dinner around 5:30pm so it wasn't too busy, the noise level was good. They had a good playlist that we were vibing with. Instantly after we sat down we were given chips and salas, along with waters. I ordered the Mexican Enchiladas for my meal with a mango margarita. Stopped here for fuel after hiking a 14er in the area. Mexican sounded like a good idea so we decided to try this spot in Leadville! We were surprised how busy it was for Saturday lunch time but were still able to get seated immediately. Service was quick and attentive from the jump! We ordered 2 margs, queso, and a quesadilla to split. The margs were pretty strong and the quesadilla was huge! We gladly chowed down on all of it. At the end of our meal, our waiter brought us tequila shots - seems like they do that for everyone who orders a drink! Cute spot with a few tables outside that made for a nice experience ambience-wise. You have a nice view of the main street and the mountains. They were sadly out of my favorite Mexican beer, Sol, as well as a few other Mexican brews, which was disappointing. I had the spinach enchiladas which were fairly tasty but nothing to rave about. I think they may have used frozen spinach, as it tasted rather bland and was a bit watery. The corn tortillas were the best part, IMO. My bf had the chicken with mole, which he really enjoyed. Portions are very generous. We also shared a mushroom appetizer which, weirdly for a Mexican place, was lacking in flavor. We dumped a ton of salsa on it to compensate. The green salsa served with the nacho chips was really tasty. I would definitely come back here as I really enjoyed the chips, green salsa and ambience, but would skip the mushrooms and order a different main dish. The place has a lot of potential and the outdoor seating is a nice vibe. Maybe we just hit it on an off day when they were out of a lot of beers. Redeeming feature is that they served us a complimentary shot of homemade tequila for dessert. Super tasty food, good value, and solid service, but Just a bit crowded/cramped and restroom facility was dirty. My party of 4 was passing through Leadville on the way to a hike and we stopped by Casa Sanchez for lunch. There was no line and we were seated immediately, but the restaurant was busy since there was a mountain biking event in town. The wait staff were quick and helpful, offering us drinks as we sat down and returned to take our order and serve chips and salsa. The restaurant itself was busy and the tables were placed very close together. In order to walk around or go to the restroom you had to squeeze by employees and other tables. The people seated next to us were about 8inches away from my chair, and the restroom facility smelled terrible and was dirty, but this might have been due to the influx of people because of the event in town. I ordered the carnitas burrito which I recommend. It was not too expensive and it came with a ton of carnitas wrapped in a tortilla with all of the sides surrounding it. The carnitas was slightly dry but the pico, beans, rice, etc mixed in made it tasty. I would recommend this dish. If you are in Leadville this is definitely a safe bet for family dining, and I'm sure the place is less busy and cleaner during non-event days read more

Stopped in for dinner and we were starving. Okay, not for real, but it had been a very long day with only a donut for breakfast about 7 hours prior. The staff was young men, all very polite. We were sat, and brought waters with no ice. Chips and salsa were brought to the table as well. Ordered the burrito with chicken, and it was smothered and came with rice and beans. The chicken was shredded and very bland. The beans were good, as was the salsa that was brought to the table with the chips. The chips, although hot, tasted sort of rancid. Salsa was really good, despite its appearance. It was extremely dark in color, not red. But it was good, and appeared to be home made. Being so hungry, I think that the food tasted better than it truly was. It was okay, but would not come back. The bathrooms are truly bizarre. There are two non-gender bathrooms, each with two toilets. But not in stalls. They were each in the room, around the corner from each other and separated by a portable blind. No idea what that is all about, but it was unique. The staff was friendly, and the salsa was great. That is about all of the good things that I can say about it here. What a bummer. In town skiing, we were simply looking for margaritas. We got the best seat in the house, service was great but we served margaritas made in the back and were straight fruit juices. The were beautiful and gigantic, but had ZERO alcohol in them.. like none lol. I know my way around a margarita abs this was straight up mango juice in ice. I ordered the mango and it was so syrupy sweet I couldn't drink it after a few sips. (If u know me, I never leave a margarita) but it sadly was just juice. We also ordered the blackberry margarita and it too was just juice. Again, delicious if you want a fruity virgin drink, but nonetheless super disappointing after a long day of skiing abs looking to kick back abs enjoy a drink. Needless to say, we didn't order food there after that and made our way to another restaurant where we served a decent margarita.
