Tom explained via a personalized drawn map of the area- including taxi pricing, favorite restaurants and tips for activities- and all turned out to be very helpful. Checked in to the treehouse suite, which was good size for us plus our 6 year old. Room includes hot water, fresh water bottles, a safe and plenty of large fans- the fans (during out November stay) were perfectly great to chill down at night- even needing a light jacket in the early morning. On the down side, we are used to the nature and the bugs, that is why we come down here of course, and critters are part of it- so if staying on the jungle side, expect to see more ants and things. My main criticism was the gas smell that came through the windows at busy times of the day- because of the generators pumping and the constant taxis outside, the gasoline did bother me. However, the positives well outweighed any negative- we spent most our time out on the beach of Maalix- they were hospitable, we ate and drank in their bar and they were more than happy to accommodate us. Also spent time cooking in LPM's kitchen, which was a welcome bonus of staying in LPM. Pick up a few staples on your way in from town at Chedruai or borrow a bike from LPM and swing over to pick up fruit, veggies, breakfast items, juices, butter, milk etc... Aside from cooking in the communal kitchen- you can find great fresh lobster and fish next door at Simple, yummy brick oven pizza at La Onda about 6 shops down - and then keep going, your options of bars and tacos on the beach are endless. The location, if you want to stay out of the fray of people, even the beaches down on this side are quieter than further north near the town and shops. All in All, it's great that you can pretty much feel free to enjoy the property and the area; no one bothers you about rules and regulations on the beach, as long as you are respectful. We felt safe and well cared for. OH! Try the fresh fruit plate from their cafe in the front on the street side, a wide variety of fresh cut fruits- delicious granola and yogurt. We will be back next time we venture down to southern Quintana Too!

What an incredible place to visit with 4 different cenotes to explore! Your initial visit to the…read morecenotes around the park must be with a tour guide, but you can pay extra for a private guide. No matter which tour you choose you're going to be in the cenotes with other people, so I don't think it's worth the extra cost to get a private tour. Once you pay, you wait until there's about 20 people in your group. Our guide was awesome, and he took us through the cenote with the cave first, which was absolutely beautiful, and then we swam in two open cenotes and one more cave. (They had an option to kayak one of them, but it was so short I was glad we didn't opt into that). Although we didn't pay for the all-inclusive food, that is an option to add on. At the end of the guided tour, you can also go back to the open cenotes and swim as much as you'd like. The tour itself took about an hour and a half. It even rained part of the time and it didn't affect our fun at all. I would highly recommend checking this spot out on your trip to Tulum. They have plenty of free parking and lockers you can rent for $7.

Went to Casa Tortuga in Tulum, Mexico to explore the cenotes for the first time, and it was such a…read morecool experience. Lockers are $6 and they give you a lock and key--plus the key is on a wristband so you don't lose it. You do have to wear a life jacket, but those are free. They also have bathrooms and changing rooms, and you're required to shower beforehand to rinse off any oils or lotions. A guide is available if you want one. We spent about 45 minutes in each cenote, checking out the stalactites and stalagmites inside the caves. The water was freezing, so it definitely takes a minute to adjust! I'd highly recommend bringing water shoes, maybe even your snorkel gear, and definitely a towel. There's food for purchase and some souvenir options too. Overall, the customer service was great and the whole place was worth the visit.

Each room has a private hot tub/jacuzzi on the balcony, which is heated and perfect for the winter months when the ocean or pools are a little cooler - or especially for taking a relaxing dip in the evening after dinner. The property is safe and secure, and just a little ways from the Tulum center. We had a rental car and parking there was much more convenient than being a few blocks closer in town with street parking. And for the quality of accomodations, the priced were very reasonable.

I enjoyed intima for many reasons, but I want to highlight native tulum just outside the resort. We were not used to huts and such an active night neighborhood and once we experienced it, we were sold! I think the drive in can be intimidating if you are not open to learning more about the city, and this is what made the location of the resort so amazing. The whole resort was very clean and well maintained. The bar tender was amazing! Seriously, give that guy a raise. The rooms had AC! SCOOOOORRREEEE. We will definitely be booking with the resort again.

They usually say good morning and good night to us as we walk by them. don't forget you are in a small town in rural Mexico. If you want opulence and midnight room service, pay the prices down at the beach. If you want an experience of seeing what a small town is like, stay here. Downtown Tulum seems much funner than the beach resorts anyway. more options, more to do. There is some noise in the evening at times dogs bark, roosters crow....with the window shut and the fan on, most of that is shut out. it wasn't cool enough when we were there to sleep with windows open. ProTip: If you are going to the beach, walk toward the ADO bus station and the cabs drop in price by something like 20 peso.....they operate via 'zones' and prices should be fixed. Drives should have a list of stops with prices on it. We pay $110 peso to get to the beach near Ana y Jose (for comparison). The rooms are always clean and don't have a musty odor. The maids do a nice job daily of keeping things clean.....which can also help keep ants away. There are not any 'Do Not Disturb' signs but I am sure you can work something out with Tom. Wifi is not available anywhere but on the top floor.....and only a portion of that. They have recently added a new cell tower in town and this year compared to the last two, we got decent cell service in our room (Verizon). Tom was a gracious host greeting everyone at breakfast as always. He makes sure to answer any questions and can provide suggestions for places to visit and eating establishments (Unico was this years suggestion and it was fabulous). The breakfast has come back! He had gotten rid of the cook to order food last year and decided to bring it back and it was better than ever!! Several options along with Juice, tea and coffee. Tom can help arrange for tours of sites, ruins, etc....and make reservations for you at various places like Cetle--another fantastic place to eat). The last thing I like is that you are away from 'downtown' a bit so you don't get any of the noise from the bars and other things that might run into the night. The town is super safe....we've never felt targeted, unsafe, or like we had to keep our head on a swivel......and we've walked through most of it at some point or another. We first stayed here four years ago, (the year after we stayed at an all inclusive; the year after that we stayed at a cabana on the beach), and this year we came back to Posada Luna del Sur. Why? Because this hotel is excellent! It is affordable, safe, and it has everything you need, including air-conditioning, cable television, and an awesome complimentary breakfast (not continental, but full) on the roof top patio, which is very choice. Keep in mind that it is located in town, so we rent bicycles and ride them to the beach along the bike path, which is the only way to do it. Tom, the proprietor is great. He is honest, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area - as he has lived there for years. I recommend this hotel to everyone I know who is headed to Tulum, and I will continue to do so. It's a small bay just north of Tulum, lined with vacation rentals. Most of them are rented via Akumal Vacations, however many are individually owned. It's a quiet little spot with pelicans, white sand, calm water, and a warm, shallow bay. There's pretty much nothing going on here, and that's why you come to a place like this. We stayed at the Casas del Corazon here, which could merit its very own review. Situated centrally, we could walk down to the "hotel" on the north end, as well as the tiny convenience store El Bob. On the other end of the beach sits a small "restaurant" that's actually just a beach shack selling fish and ceviche. It closes early and is only open some days. Things here happen when they happen, and everything runs at its own speed. As for the bay, it's a solid spot for SUP'ing, kayaking, running on the beach, some snorkeling, and watching pelicans dive for the large school of small fish that hang out in the shallows. No motorized rentals or anything. Just mellowness. But what more do you need than hammocks, white sand beaches, water and a cold margarita? Nada mucho. Why four stars? Well, there's kind of this section between the shoreline and about 35 feet out that's rocky with shells and grass before you get out to the real sandy-bottomed water. So it's not actually the best setup for just wandering out into the bay. You can swim through it/over it, or grab one of the kayaks that I'm sure your vacation rental will have and kayak out to an anchor at the reef mid-bay to do some snorkeling (which is passable). But as far as perfect vacation spots go, if that didn't exist, this would be paradise. I'd definitely come back here again, if only to avoid the traffic and turistas and chaos of Tulum. Seems like Mexicans rent these houses too, so it's not just a shitload of Norte Americanos. Which is awesome. The proximity to Tulum is super nice. Protip: You need to get food/drinks either on the way in from Cancun airport or in Tulum. The selection is MUCH better on the way from Cancun.

My travel companion and I arrived midday on a Monday. The hotel set us up with airport transport, which is necessary as Tulum is 1.5 hours away. We were able to check in immediately and enjoy the pool right outside our garden room. The room had a large canopy bed, dressers, a tv with streaming options, and a large bathroom. For the price, we were pleasantly surprised! Our room was cleaned daily and the AC and Heat worked wonderfully. The included breakfast was simple but generous: fresh fruit, yogurt, and pastries with your choice of juice or coffee. It was a great way to start the day when we went off to adventure in Tulum! The staff was extremely helpful and set us up with cabs whenever we needed them, and were great at giving us suggestions for things to do, see, and eat around town. Tulum town is walkable from the hotel and we never once felt unsafe, even during the two dark and rainy nights we experienced. We had one full beach day and we spent it at the sister resort, Coco Beach Club Tulum. This was EXTREMELY useful because we didn't realize most of the beachfront in Tulum is private, and the public beaches are very busy. If you eat at the restaurant they waive the beach fee and you can stay all day. It was gorgeous! The one area of improvement would be the hotel restaurant. We ate here once and it was one of the less delicious meals of the trip. However, ALL food in town is incredible, so even though it wasn't the best it still wasn't bad. The drinks are tasty but you can find cheaper in the area, and the restaurant and bar close very early. Overall, we loved our experience here and will definitely be back! Please note: I'm a budget traveler on my first trip to Tulum, so I wasn't expecting a five star hotel. I wanted a warm place to rest my head between adventures that wouldn't break the bank and Coco Hacienda more than delivered!

This part will talk about the service and customer retention. To start, the last time we visited the front desk told us to reach out to them via WhatsApp to let them we will be checking back with them and they will add upgrades to our reservation. This time around they did just that. We got an upgraded room and free breakfast. Honestly a nice touch and it definitely will make us come back for a third. The one thing we didn't do when we were here was use there sister hotels amenities. Coco Hacienda is part of Coco Hotel and Coco Limited which are hotels on the tulum beach. To use the amenities you just need to bring a colored towel from the front desk, your room keys from coco hacienda and (it varies) have to order $35-50 worth of food and drinks. Once you check those boxes you can visit and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go. It's beautiful. We used the $35-50 ordering requirement to buy drinks and chill on the beach. We went during 11-12p which wasn't too busy. It was before people checked in so the beach wasn't too busy.
