I was enjoying my meal at Casa Maria's Mexican Restaurant, in Chouteau, when my brain formulated a puzzling question that I couldn't answer. Do the Amish people eat Mexican food? As my wife and I scanned the menu, we didn't discuss what we were going to order. When the waitress asked, we had come to the same conclusion. The picture of Lunch Burrito Casa Maria was influential. A burrito is a burrito, but Casa Maria's, Lunch Burrito Casa Maria distinguished itself from many we have had. It is a lunch menu item, described as a "one burrito" filled with (beef or chicken) cooked with pico de gallo then topped with queso, rice and beans on the side, and guacamole. We went with chicken. The savory pico de gallo blended with the chicken and the queso to yield an enjoyable, tasty, better than average, burrito reward. The accompanying rice and beans were good. I usually skip the rice. Casa Maria's rice is well seasoned though. I discovered that a dab of hot salsa covered beans, sharing a fork with a dab of rice, made a great, delicious mouth full of food. The guac was fresh. I wish the portion had been larger, but this is a lunch menu item. The gringo style salsa average. The hot salsa very good. Service very good. And the surprisingly large restaurant is noticeably very clean and well kept. Good OkieMex! That unanswered question troubled me on the drive home.......

So if ambience is a # 1 for your experience this is not your place. The food however is fresh and fantastic. This is the real deal in street tacos. I had the carne asada and the Pastor tacos. Super delicious with all the right spices dancing the Macarena on your taste buds. Wash it down with Coke in a glass bottle to let that fizz spread the joy! Staff struggles with English a bit but are sweet and very good people. Go a few times and they know your order by heart! Mucho gracious Taco La Tia

I've never had anything on the menu that I didn't love. Today I had the Torta Al Pastor. I would put this Torta up against any in the area. Every bite is perfection! I'm also a huge fan of their Enchiladas Rojas! The Dillon bowl is also a regular staple of mine. It's a simple rice bowl with your choice of 2 perfectly seasoned/marinated meats. The servers here are always very polite and attentive. They put up with our antics weekly with a wry, empathetic smile (note the 32 oz. Modelo). The restaurant has seating to accommodate 20-25 people comfortably, which is needed for the daily lunch rush. Tacos La Tia has a blue collar feel yet their food is that of an upscale, high-end eatery. Every dish is packed full of flavor and the portions are just right! If you're in Muskogee, come see what all of the hype is about!

Still surviving today, cranking out delicious TexMex favorites. I have cleaned a lot of plates at Monterey's Little Mexico. Nope I wasn't a dish washer. I was a loyal customer when I lived in Texas. Regardless of the location, a diner could depend on consistent quality and great service. I could slip in on the lunch hour, have a great lunch and be back at the office without violating the man's 60-minute lunch rule. Today Birria Tacos for me and a Texas Burrito for my wife. My tasty tacos came with the consume and a small bowl of charro beans. Each taco loaded with tender juicy shredded beef and hot melted cheese. The burrito was a monster. Engorged with beef beans and rice, covered with chili con carne and yellow queso. Delicious, true TexMex style. Check the pictures. Excellent salsa with thin crispy chips. Very good service from Michelle B. (thank you.) Still and always, one of my favorite TexMex restaurants.

The ambience and bar service are still killer. I actually came for the cheese dip, but ended up ordering the Salmon Verda plate too, and I'm glad I did. It was absolutely amazing. My original plan was to get the fajitas (my go to), but after eating way too many chips and cheese dip, I figured I should balance things out with something a little healthier. The salmon ended up being the perfect choice. It was cooked just right and honestly better than I expected. I usually decide what to order based on pictures from Yelp, but there weren't any for this dish. So... you're welcome.

I want to be clear that just because I'm offering some criticism in this post, it doesn't t mean I didn't enjoy it. My shrimp in the grilled shrimp and pineapple salad were a bit salty and felt a little basic but I loved the lime vinaigrette. My wife's tacos were delicious but were barely warm. The Cowboy Caviar was a great side but strangely, it needed a bit of salt. Don't care. Still love the food and vibe here.
