My family and I have been dining at Casa Maria's for about 3 years now. It is our home away from home. We celebrate every family occasion there. We are always greeted with smiling faces and the wait staff are amazing. The owner always makes us feel welcome and even comes and talks with us every time we are there. The food is excellent. They have great daily specials that are very reasonably priced. During the COVID pandemic, they have been very diligent in making sure people are wearing masks (I am a Leukemia survivor) for the safety of others like me. Tried this place for the first time yesterday, ordered to go. Ordered a carne asada burrito that was absolutely disgusting. Not only was every piece of meat 1/2 gristle but whatever they are calling cheese cannot be real cheese. I heated the burrito to make sure it was extra hot- the yellowing stuff they call cheese not only doesn't melt, you can't pull it apart. Really good Mexican Food in Clovis! I was in a rush but thought lets just check this place out. I had the two taco plate with rice and beans. They give you chips & salsa to start. The chips and salsa was perfect. Other places usually have stale chips and salsa is either too spicy or not spicy at all, this salsa was perfect. The carne asada tacos were great. Meat was marinated well and taco shell had the right crunchiness to it. I asked the waitress if they had Cherry Coke and she said no but she'll make me one. She came out with the best customized Cherry Coke I ever had. It was freakin great! Service was great and everyone seemed to be happy doing their job. BY FAR THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED AT ANY ESTABLISHMENT. Casa Maria use to care about customer service, I'm not sure where it all went south through the past year. I took my aunt for dinner who is elderly and takes covid very serious. Anytime we go out she asks for her own bowl for separate salsa so she is not sharing and getting germs/covid. Waitresses were rude and very snauty said NO and to buy extra salsa. I forgot to mention when we walked in there were many empty tables and they sit is in back right next to the kitchen which was loud. This table is more for staff when they eat lunch not customers. I ask nicely if we could possibly sit at another table as that table was small and loud we also had my disabled cousin with us so the table was not suitable for her. Waitress rudely says NO, I wait these tables and I'm not at another table. Ok so why couldn't another waitress wait on us? After these two ride incidents we kindly again said we were leaving and did not order. My aunt ask to talk to a manager about the rude waitresses & the lady in a nasty tone tells my aunt "I'm the daughter so what's the problem". Apparently if your family to owner you can treat customers like shit I definitely won't be going back based on service alone not to mention prices have gone way up and the food has gone down. My second rude experience here. 1 star because I had to but they deserve negative stars. read more

Went here for the 1st time the other day and it was excellent!!! The service was great!! Their chips were delicious and they served them with yummy hot salsa. I got a combo plate with a chili relleno, taco, and enchilada. I chose ground beef for my meat. All three were excellent and tasted so homemade. They only thing I didn't like was that their servings of beans and rice are pretty wimpy. Which sucks cause they both tasted good. And I don't even really like beans lol. My husband got the asada sopes'and loved them. I tried a bite of his and it was delicious! The asada had a great flavor and the sope dough tasted just as good. A good friend of mine recommended we try this place cause she said it was good & man was she right. I highly recommend this place and hope all my future visits are just as good. Now first visit to Casa Maria, overall quaint seating, staff kind and helpful, menu is easy to read and inviting. Our server particularly during our visit was a familiar face. She was attentive and made sure our visit was delightful. Chips and salsa normal, good and tasty. Our waitress was excellent, the food authentic and by far the best tasting Mexican food in the area!! My hubby again had menudo and stated it is the best he's had! Tastes old school, very original! I had just regular nachos with a chili verde sauce. The chips are warm and homemade. Salsa was good, but we asked for hotter and she brought a green salsa that was super spicy. Ok, so we again tried to give this place a chance. We ordered some sodas and water with lemon and the waitress said "lemon on the side"? I guess we were going to get charged for it. Never got the water or the lemon. We shared their fajita trio and ordered extra tortillas, which of course, we would pay for. The waitress said, "oh you want an extra plate to share?" Of course that would be nice. She said it would be a dollar to use another plate. The soup came only a few minutes before the meal and the meatball in the soup was hard as a rock. Fajita steak was hard. Other stuff was ok. Never did get an extra plate so I ate off of a napkin. No one ever came to ask us how our food was or refill sodas. That's it. Will not be back. The food and price here were average overall. The service was pretty good as the server was very attentive and helpful. The chips were good and the salsa was tasty but the meal itself (the enchilada, taco and Chile Rellano dinner), was lacking in flavor (especially the Spanish rice with was a bit dry as well. The carnitas we're a bit overcooked (not terribly but enough to be noticably dryer).
