Just discovered this hidden gem. Reasonable prices, good food and wine, interesting decor. Only negative, it is in a sketchy neighborhood in the historic district. My friend is from Laredo, so she knew the area well, but it looked very scary to me. Usually they have someone monitoring the blocks around the restaurant. They are only open a few days a week. Live entertainment starts around 8:30. Give it a try!

Amazing atmosphere! The live music and entertainment are just exquisite. There is an authentic Spanish feel to the restaurant, as well as the food. The tapas and entrees are delicious. The sangria is amazing, I highly recommend the pitcher because it's just delicious!

Wow. Mix bag here. We showed up here for Vday and place didn't look like much from outside. You'd mistake it as an abandoned warehouse. Luckily they realize this and they had security guards with flash lights that direct you to parking and let you know your in the right place. When you get to door and open you are wowed in a very positive way. When you walk it's very authentic. I'd give decor a 1,000,000 out of 10. Ive been to Spain and this place has that feel. Aside from decor it all Went down hill. I'll warn you for what seemed like a well staffed place the speed here was slow. Our appetizer was literally four slices of cheese and two slices of cured ham. It took literally 45 minutes to come out. Our dinner total of 4 courses with Paella with seafood, chicken and pork was highlight. It was good but everything was okay. Nothing was bad which is why I gave 3 stars plus decor and ambience. (Great live music) if you want a 5 experience? Honestly. Eat a good meal and come and have nothing else to do and enjoy live dancing or music and have low expectations on service but when I compare this against Tabernilla locally in Jacman and Loop 20 Tabernilla is 1,000 times better. What makes it better is service and also mainly filling tapas. I get tapas is tapas--I've had it in Spain, California and NYC but Tabernilla does it right. Anyways. This place can be so much more. Crowd here has the typical Border Foundry crowd. Waiter never asked how we were and filled our drinks...just sad. Edit: wow management makes fake accounts to lift their rating. Sad. As somebody that's done hundreds of reviews across the country that's sad to see. What you see above is reality of the experience.

First time here and we fell in love. Great live music and the decor is outstanding. The theme is bullfighting. Great Spanish food. This is not Mexican or Tex-Mex this is Authentic Spanish food.

I absolutely love the idea of live entertainment and think it's a rare commodity at dinner these day, so I'm very happy that Casa Lopez provides this!

Even after mentioning it to the waitress nothing was done. The quesadilla was pretty fair, nothing special just chicken and cheese, no spices. The restaurant wasn't busy, we were the only patrons. $50 for a very disappointing meal. Since we were staying at the hotel, we went down for breakfast. Greasy food and the refried beans in my taco were dry and crunchy. The waitress didn't pay attention, I had to ask twice for a coffee refill. We won't be back, I can see why there were no other customers.

We had amazing fried tongue and very good "shrimp ala diabla". The annoying part was when we got…read moreback to our room and TWO SECURITY looking guys plus the bartender knocked at our door asking if we had been at the bar because we left the wrong room number on the receipt implying they couldn't charge us since we left a wrong room number. Well the truth was we had not left any room number because WE HAD PAID AT THE BAR INCLUDING A GENEROUS TIP! We had to go to the front desk to fix THEIR ERROR (aka the bartender's error) and it was like pulling teeth to get them to admit that it was a whoops on their part. That incident made me knock off one star. It could have been handled better had the bartender admitted we handed him a credit card and he neglected to charge the card. Sad, because the bartender was actually very attentive... oh well.

The man with salt and pepper hair that I would assume was the manager was very funny and helpful. The waitress was polite and charming as well and had a few jokes as well. Overall the service part was very pleasant and is what would make me come back. The drinks were different but both nicely balanced and tasty. The food was somewhat of a miss as the protein seemed to have been a little over cooked but the sides and everything else was very delicious. The salmon, prime rib, and burger patty were all a bit over cooked. The salmon was a bit on the dry side for being blackened, the prime rib seemed to be over cooked or was either from day before or left over, and the burger patty after being asked for medium well was well done with no slight pink to be found. Those were the only misses in my opinion but everything else was great. They had run out of wings which I wanted to try but definitely worth trying if you have a chance. Cantarito shandy great balance and if you like grapefruit you'll love this drink. El canton the ginger and pineapple gave a banana type flavor but it was nicely balanced. Prime rib cocktail- great flavor from beer stewed vegetables. Beautiful balanced and got better with every bite, however the prime rib was over cooked and a bit tough. Almost tasted like prime rib used from day before or left over. Coconut blackened salmon - salmon a bit on dry side but the rice and plantain was on point. El capataz burger patty was well but the chorizo with mushrooms and cheese paired nicely.
