Staff was friendly when I went to get my take out order, so I will give 2 stars for that. The trouble happened when I got home. My food had a weird taste and I found a black small plastic piece of something in my enchilada. I just got disgusted and threw my food away. read more

Casa Durango - plastic piece came out of my enchilada - Mexican Near Me - Burien, Washington

I will never order from Casa Durango again. I ordered Uber Eats and I did not receive the tortillas for my carne asada or chicken fajitas. Both regularly come with tortillas and the menu states that they do within the app. When I contacted the restaurant they said it was my fault for not stating specifically how many I wanted. They said I'd have to drive to pick them up so I did. When I got there instead of apologizing for the inconvenience they scolded me about how to use the app. I retorted that chicken fajitas come with tortillas. The woman at the counter said "no sir, not in the app". That's funny, what is a fajita without a tortilla? And the menu in the app says they come with tortillas. She continued to rudely snap at me that I was wrong. Finally she gave me some tortillas. My food was cold by the time I got to eat it. I've eaten at and ordered from Casa Durango many times before. Never again! Finalmente ella me dio algunas tortillas. Cuando llegué a comer, mi comida estaba fría. He comido y pedido en Casa Durango muchas veces antes. ¡Nunca más! read more

My family has been going here for about a year and the waiters now know us, even after a 3-month hiatus recently. Here are a few things that cause me to rate this restaurant 5 stars: 1) Kid-friendly but not kid-crazy; fun search and find menu (but the heart is not to be found!!) 2) They don't skimp on anything 3) They remember you and what you like (for example, we ask for the special bean and cheese dip with our chips while we wait and they know just what we mean and bring it every time!) 4) Delicious, fresh, plentiful food 5) Never crowded, no wait, happy to combine tables for a party of 6-8 A couple of things we don't love but that aren't enough to outweigh all the pluses above: 1) Drinks are hit and miss (margaritas sometimes great, sometimes meh, but they'll fix it if you tell them you want more tequila, more ice, etc.; sangria is non-alcoholic and in a bottle - huh?!?) 2) The booths are kind of snug and the seats slope down a little Overall, we love it, we go frequently, and we highly recommend for a family-friendly Mexican meal at a decent price. read more

This place has awesome reviews, that is what upsets me most. I hate to be negative, but the service put a damper on our evening. I ordered Tacos Pastor and they were amazing authentic. Love! My sister ordered an appetizer with shrimp, and she was surprised to see it wasn't cooked. It looked great quality, she tried and just didn't like it. The waitress was not readily willing to exchange for another, and said she would have to ask the chef. my sister personally didn't like what she ordered, (no offense to anyone), not their fault. We got a new meal, but then the waitress informed us the cook staff was making her feel bad because we sent back a dish. I would have given a rave review, but all this was so unnecessary and as patrons, we shouldn't be made to feel bad while eating dinner, that we are paying for. read more

This place is the best Mex you've never heard of. From the DELICIOUS Carne Asada, Chili Rellenos, Enchiladas, Tamales...this place is really good. Casa D, as we call it in Normandy Park, is Mexican enough to please even the most Californian Californian yet American enough to be the perfect Mexican go-to joint for all Seattle-ites (okay, South-West-Seattleites.) Their lunch menu is inexpensive and more than worth it. The margaritas are yummy. The place is clean, comfy, and the first place that should come to mind when you think "where should we go for really good Mex?" read more

Love Casa Durango! The staff remembers us every time and the food is awesome! I want to keep it a Burien secret but it is too good not to share. read more

Love it! Come here often when fiance and I are in the area. I always get the Camaronas a la Crema, and the sauce is just delicious. My finance loves the Enchilada a la Crema with chicken. Memo is awesome! Best service around! read more

Well the food is good here the salsa is pretty much amazing , but while i was eating, I found an ant crawling on my arm and looked down and seen another one.. Eh ants are gross... I also came here on another day to get to go food, but i sat in the restraunt for 10 mintues without seeing any employee as well as getting any service.. read more

Tried this place on a whim during lunch. The service was quick and friendly. The food was okay. The salsa was spicy enough that I enjoyed it. I ordered four tacos..lengua, asada, pollo, and fish. They were okay but no wow factor. The lengua is my favorite kind of taco and made correctly is very beefy and tender with lots of flavor. I didn't really get that here. It just seemed okay. Not bad but not enough to make me drive a distance just to come here. read more

I work near this place and stopped in for take away lunch. I was warmly greeted and even offered a table and water while I waited. I ordered the torta with carnitas. The food took a long time to get to me (I sent others there on a later date and they complained about the wait for food). My torta was huge. It was a generous portion and very tasty. It was exactly what I wanted. It did come with poorly made fries. The fries were unnecessary because the sandwich was big enough and I don't come to a Mexican place for French Fries. The server was extremely nice and I look forward to more visits. If you go, prepare for a wait or order well ahead. read more

Solidly good Mexican food. This is a great spot with fantastic service, delicious food and a comfortable atmosphere. I can recommend the enchiladas, burritos, tacos or carne asada. The fajita salad is also very good. Really, everything here is good! read more

This place is an undiscovered gem in Burien. Prices are reasonable, the waitstaff is super-friendly and quick, and the food is wonderful! And the waiter actually went in the back and hand-made my horchata: this is the real stuff, not from a vat that was made three days ago or from a mix. They don't actually use any lard in their cooking (all vegetarian cooking methods) so the food comes out really light and not greasy at all. This is the first Mexican meal I've had in a good long while that I could actually walk away from without feeling like I needed a nap. They make their tamales by hand (no pre-packaged stuff here) so you'll want to call ahead if you're ordering those because they take a while. I am definitely going back, and bringing people with me. read more

It was a fair experience & surely less than what we expected. We order the Super Plato ($11.95) and the weekend special, Menudo ($8.95). The super plato wasn't worth the price and the menudo was so salty and didn't taste right. We were pretty sure it wasn't made fresh that day. It was too salty and the flavor was so dense, just like days-old leftover soup. The irony is, it was their weekend special. read more

Terrible. Went there for lunch and ordered a torta covered in chili sauce. The sauce was so crazy spicy that I could only get down 3 bites! I have enjoyed eating very spicy food my entire life, but this was literally unbearable. I won't venture a guess on the Scoville scale, but it was insane! Must have been one funny joke, because not only did the server come out to laugh at me sweating profusely and guzzling water, (which she didn't refill) she brought out the cook to join in on the fun! No "I'm sorry, can I get you something else? " just mockery. Definitely not a wise way to treat paying customers. Don't eat here. I won't make the mistake again. read more

The food is great!!! Love the Chicken tortilla soup!!

WOW!! I had the Arroz Con Polo and it was just like my grandmother's. Their salsa is great and the chips we're crispy, not greasy or too salty. I can't wait to go back!! read more

The foods are very delicious, but one thing needs to be improved and that's is customer services, they needs to improve their engagement with the customers, sorry to say, but it is what it i, at least they have to talk with a smile, it sounds they don't like customers to come in, seriousness look on their faces, read more

If you drive for Uber, I highly recommend you don't pick up from these guys or you'll end up waiting endlessly while the staff only pays attention to customers in the restaurant, I'm assuming since they want tips and don't care about their delivery customers. Don't offer delivery by Uber if you don't want to give good service to your delivery customers or have good relationships with the drivers! read more

We are staying at my in-laws for a couple of weeks and just wanted to grab some dinner within walking distance. I was not expecting much from this hole in the wall - a small pace in a strip mall - but I now stand corrected. A family run restaurant with great service and flavorful food. First, I sound like high maintenance, but I don't care for the sickening sweet margaritas. I just want lime juice, a little agave, and tequila. But I feel so pretentious ordering a "skinny margarita". If I was worried about being skinny, I wouldn't be ordering a margarita! Our server wasn't certain, so she asked another server, who was uncertain, and then a third woman popped out and asked what I was after. "Of course, we can do that!" And it was SO refreshing. We laughed a bit and she basically told me I have to get over it and just ask for a skinny margarita, LOL. All three women were warm, friendly, and attentive. The food? The carne asada was a bit dry and tough, but well marinated and flavorful. The Camerones mojo de ajo were scrumptious. Tender and delicious. There are about a dozen camerones dishes on their menu and I can see why. My husband ordered the enchilada-tamale combo. Tamales are generally hit and miss. These are a huge hit. The masa was light and tender (some are so dense and thick it's like eating paste). He said the piccadillo in his enchilada had an interesting seasoning one doesn't typically associate with Mexican food - Rosemary? It was very faint but really added to the dish. We look forward to returning and discovering more delicious food... but will definitely order more tamales and likely another camerones dish. read more

The chicken chimichanga I had last night was life changing. Before last night I've never been a huge fan of Mexican food but my gf was craving it last night. I've grabbed a burrito from Casa Durango before and it was alright but nothing spectacular. Last night we got the steak and shrimp with beans, rice and tortillas and a chimichanga to go and shared them. Both were amazing, but as soon as I ate the chimichanga I wanted to order another one and I am still craving another one. I'm hoping I can hold out until Sunday before the craving gets the better of me. The guy up front (owner?) was really friendly, too. read more

Delicious. Excellent service and when I asked for things without cheese/sour cream they instantly understood I wanted no dairy and accommodated me easily. That alone is worth another trip when I'm in that area again. read more

Last night we were looking for a restaurant between Des Moines and the Burien Trader Joe's. We decided to give Durango a try and had a great meal! I had the special, Broiled ChickenThighs Asada, and my husband had a shrimp dish -- can't remember the name, but it was the next-to-last item in the seafood list. While we waited, we consumed the entire basket of chips (could have used just a hint of salt) and salsa (excellent). John ordered a margarita (he said it was a little sweeter than usual) and I had a Corona Extra which was served with a lime and a frosted glass. Our meals arrived. Lots of food on huge plates -- attractively served and piping hot. The entrées were accompanied by red rice, refried beans with cheese, warm tortillas, and a crisp relish of chopped lettuce, and other veggies highlighted by cilantro. The chicken thighs, which had been marinated, were broiled to perfection and served with sautéed onions, peppers and mushrooms in a beautiful sauce. Each shrimp was peeled down to the tail section and wrapped in a bacon strip. They were prepared in a similar sauce but this time with added cheese. The restaurant was almost empty except for us. Normandy Park residents need to wake up to this great little spot! The décor is attractive and the restaurant is spotless, including the restrooms. The prices are more than reasonable. We'll be back. read more

I was really craving some Mexican and this place did not disappoint. First the chips and salsa was FIRE! So delicious and spicy. I ate 2 bowls by myself. The meal was so filling and tasty. Prawn and carne asada with beans. The environment was very friendly and relaxing. The host Gabby was the GREATEST! She was very attentive to my needs and made sure I was well taken care of. I will definitely be going back again. read more

We ended up eating here on a whim..we had waited for over and hour for brunch at the spot next door and grew hungry so decided to go next door. I'm so glad that we did. The service was amazing, the waiter was sweet and helpful. The food authentic and delicious. I had a fajita quesadilla which I have not had anywhere else and I highly recommend it. Would totally go here again :) read more

This place is wack,inI a great way. It's Friday night. My 4 friends are the only ones here. First I was afraid but now that we are well into our meals and all satisfied, I realize we have discovered a gem. The chile rellenos are amazing. My buddies chile verde was great. The catbirds report was chunky not shredded and really good flavor. These are the biggest portions I have ever seen, and the prices are great. Eat here now. read more

This place is pretty good, fast service, good menu. Same prices about as Azteca but better food. They use more vegetables in there Quesadilla's and other menu items, so it's not always just meat and cheese. read more

I find that most Mexican restaurants around here are very similar, but this place is different. What makes it different is the people who work here. They're always very friendly, and they often make things for me that aren't on the menu--they'll happily modify the menu to suit the customers taste. They also have the best salsa and margaritas in town. read more

Had steak fajitas to go. Rice and steaks are bland. Was given about 2TBSP of gauc, 2/3 of it was a chunk of unedible under-riped hard-as-rock avacado. The mushrooms tasted old (I'd rather not have any mushrooms in there, instead of a mouthful of taste of spores). Didn't get any salsa.... Will not go back. The famous Tex-Mex chain has better food. read more

Awesome food, friendly server. :) Whenever we want Mexican food and spending a little more is just fine, this is the place to be.

This is really the best mexican food I've had in a long time!!! I recommend the enchiladas, they are my favorite and I've tried many different places looking for flavorful but not too spicy mexican. The waiter is always very polite and the food is always hot and fresh. read more

Pretty decent and authentic Mexican food. Love the friendly staff! Definitely our go-to place for dinner

Went here because we bought the Groupon recently. This is a gem of a restaurant. It's hidden away in a strip mall off of 1st Avenue and is easy to miss, but it would be terrible to miss it. The decor is kitschy and fun and the food is really good. The service was also excellent. Portions were enormous and we had plenty of leftovers. I definitely recommend this little family-owned joint. read more

I love this restaurant nice service delicious food. You will feel you are at small town on Mexico

Absolutely LOVE this place!! Don't waste time or money on some chain Mexican food restaurants that claim to be family owned (Azteca) for example. For starters you can feel the love in this place the gal Karri (who is owner and wife to Chef Santiago) is extremely pleasant. My hubby and I have came in here several times and they always have their nieces and nephews there along with their parents of course! It is nice to see that there are actually family members that come to a FAMILY OWNED MEXICAN place. Karri is FABULOUS and makes everyone feel welcome. She always makes sure that you have what you need and want and you will NEVER have to wait more than a minute to get your chips, salsa and drinks when you walk in the door. You won't have t wait very long for the food to be ready either. BTW Santiago makes the BEST Carne Asada- make sure you have him serve you up! read more

We moved to WA almost 7years ago from California and have been looking for good Mexican food ever since. Today we discovered Casa Durango in Burien and feel that we finally hit the jackpot--the food is excellent and the most authentic we've found in WA so far--it's fantastic! We would highly recommend it to anyone. My only recommendation would be to add a few bites of fresh salad-type bites to the plates. read more

What can I say. Chips salsa are staples of any diet and Casa's salsa make my stomach go pitter pat! Always consistently good and love how Memo always recognizes me. Three stars because the do not offer wifi -hello! It's 2015- every restaurant should offer wifi! But it's a great neighborhood joint read more
