Found this Brazilian bakery next to the DMV. After, the long lines and chaos at the DMV I worked up an appetite. So, I stopped in to try it out. I ordered the chicken croquettes, aka Coxinha and a beef empanada, and a freshly made passion fruit punch. The Coxinha were mini in size, and came with 6 perfectly tear dropped crispy, fried potato balls with seasoned chicken in the center. They reminded of the knishes that you buy from the street vendors in NYC, just smaller in size and minus the beef. It was the perfect snack. The empanada also hit the spot. The beef was well seasoned and the crust was not fried. It appeared to be baked which is a nice alternative. I love passionfruit anything so the passionfruit drink is very refreshing. I loved it. I am not usually in the Deerfield area so I may not be able to come often, but hopefully we meet again. I would love to try the flan, it happens to be one of my favorite desserts. read more

Casa do Pao is a Brazilian shop with pastries, sandwiches, small bites, cakes, fresh juices, and more. Their main store is located in Boca, and now they opened a smaller store in Deerfield. This second location is Casa do Pao Express. The shop is small, maybe fits 3 - 4 customers at a time. It's a takeout type of place, you can either call ahead or order there and wait for it (does not take long). On the menu they have a good variety of fresh fruit juices and smoothies. Also, Coffee, tea, some sandwiches, wraps, acai bowls, and a lot more on the "hot case" like their delicious Coxhina, empanadas, pao de queijo, and more. I've visited this location several times, and will keep coming back. It's close to work, service is great, friendly and quick. Ingredients they use always taste fresh and everything I've tried is delicious. I even found mini dulce de leche churros. My brother loves dulce de leche so imagine how happy he was when I got a bag of these for him. If you haven't been to either location, do so soon. Man, this place looked like a hole in the wall in a dinky little plaza, but boy was I wrong. Plenty of staff ready to serve you, quick turnover for orders even when they're packed, and a selection that would make most bakeries AND sandwich shops blush. I highly recommend you come in and grab the first thing that catches your eye, you won't be disappointed. And it's cheap to boot! read more

It is hard for me to be near this bakery and not stop in. It's a neighborhood gem. The food here is made daily and so delicious. The smoothies are created with the freshest ingredients. I always stop in thinking I'm going to spend less than $10 and am always enticed to buy more tasty goodies and spend more than I planned. My favorite items are the smoothies, empanadas and dulce de leche pastries. However, not being Brazilian, I end up trying new pastries all the time and their soups. All my favorites that I like from the original Casa Do Pão location in 441 but in the express format. Like a hole in the wall, you can stop in for a coffee or juice, pick up a to-go meal, coxinha or pastry. I simply love it. Several fridges line the small interior with puddings, or a freezer section with take home meals. I love to grab a cappuccino, a guava pastry and coxinha de frango com catupiry (coxinha with chicken and cream cheese), great for eating on the go. Also if you get there early before they run out they have the Empadão de frango, basically the Brazilian chicken pie - veggies, olives, shredded chicken - they sell out quick because it's delicious! read more

Stopped here on a whim while making a post office run, glad I did! Quick, delicious and great prices for the excellent quality. The place was clean, welcoming and loaded with tons to choose from - various types of coffee, smoothies, quick bites like empanadas, desserts, and a giant array of frozen to go Spanish/Brazilian items that I got to make the night a breeze to fee everyone after work. I happened upon this gem while visiting my mom and dropping her off for a manicure next door. The churros are amazing! Small, warm and Filled with (I think) a dulce de leche surprise! I don't know what the names of the other delicious coconut custard slice and the airy, crusty savory popovers are but everything I bought was interesting and yummy. They had so many new (to me) things I would like to try, i will go back. Friendly staff too! read more

I'm not living in Deerfield but from time to time find myself in that neighborhood! I like this tiny shop for it's soups and breads but have to say the Priscilla's "lousy" customer service and attitude leave a lot to be desired. She doesn't seem to like people or her job there..... read more

It's cliche, but this place was seriously love at first bite! I ordered the chicken + cheese coxinha and they were so crisp on the outside and melt in your mouth on the inside. I love when I enter an establishment and it is full of locals! My husband and I tried their pressed sandwiches, empanadas (both baked and fried), and churros, and loved it all. The location is small and when busy (like it was this morning) can get tight, but there is outdoor seating to accommodate those who want to stay and eat. What a great little place this is! Stumbled upon it when we were killing time before our train left for Miami. We got a smoothie, a coffee and one of their chicken croquettes. The drinks were delightful and the croquette had us wishing we had bought a few more. They had an assortment of bakery items we wanted to try but never had time to make it back. what an amazing hidden gem! this cute little bakery is tucked away next to the driver's license office on the southeast(ish) corner of hillsboro and military. it is going to quickly become a part of my morning routine. i got the jamon/queso ball and it was incredible. sweet ham, creamy cheese, fluffy and flakey bread, and a little rosemary on top made for an incredible morning snack. i also got a bacon and cheese sandwich which was good, but the ham & cheese ball was so delicious it was hard to rival. i really cannot properly express how excited i am to have found this fantastic place! do not think it's all bread though (even if it is the house of bread lol). there are juices and desserts and prepared foods that you can take home and cook yourself. the girl who worked the front was super friendly and helpful. find this place, drop a pin on google maps, and share the location with all your friends. obrigado! read more
