Torta
Amy Y.

We came here for the Torta as it was considered the best in Madrid. Located in a more upscale shopping area next to an indoor market, there is both outdoor and indoor seating. When we arrived a table was just opening up on the patio so we didn't have to wait but shortly after there was a steady stream of people waiting for patio tables. We didn't see the inside but there is limited seating inside as well. Menu is tapas with the focus on the torta and they also have a breakfast menu that ends at 11 am. What was ordered: Small portion of the torta with onion Small order of ham croquettes 2 coffees with milk Torta comes in small, medium and large and is served with bread.. The small is basically a 1/4 of a full serving and is very generous for 2 people. The filling is creamy with a toasty exterior. The croquettes come with a little side of fries and the interior was creamy with specks of ham. The flavour was almost like cream of mushroom soup with ham. Service is very good and tables turn over quickly. A must visit if in Madrid.

Tortilla de patata with onions

Casa Dani is known for its tortilla de patata (Spanish potato omelette), which can be ordered with or without onions. Our server wholeheartedly recommended that we get it with onions, so we did! It was absolutely delicious, and I can see why it's known to be one of the best in Madrid. We also got the pimientos de Padrón (small green peppers) and patatas bravas. The peppers were soft, salty, and had a mild bitterness that added balance to our small meal. The patatas bravas were just fine - they didn't seem to have much seasoning aside from the spicy tomato sauce poured over them. No complaints, but not a standout for me either. We went to the restaurant with the entrance right outside the Mercado de la Paz, but there's also an area inside the mercado. The space is clean and extremely casual. The area was buzzing but not crowded when we visited around 1pm on a Friday, and we had no trouble getting a seat. The service was friendly and efficient. Food came quickly. I'm sure they're used to tourists, and they have English menus available for ease. Cost is very reasonable. It was €15 for a full tortilla, which can easily feed two or more, especially if you're getting other dishes. They also offer half and quarter portions at a lower cost if desired. This is not in the city center, and is definitely worth the excursion. The mercado is fun to wander too.

Got this idea to visit this place from influencers cause they're known for the tortilla! The recommendations did not disappoint it was warm creamy, cheesy goodness, try it with onions! Service was awesome our server Faruk helped us get the best sellers with the right proportions we finished the half portion of tortilla, had pulpo (it was tender but almost kinda mushy), gambas was good. We came around noon on a weekday, there was no lines to have seating. Don't eat the bread yet until the food comes so you can soak all the juicy goodness of the tapas.

Come here for the Spanish tortilla, stay for everything else. When I first saw the pictures of the Spanish tortilla at Casa Dani, I thought - it can't possibly be the best, can it? I have had tortillas from many tapas restaurants around the world, so to say the least, I was a bit skeptical. All critics of the glorious Spanish tortilla, if you do not make Casa Dani a must-visit when you are in Madrid, you are missing out. It was absolutely the best tortilla I have had. Fluffy and eggy on the outside, delightfully creamy and mildly sweet on the inside, it is to die for. Served with artisan bread, I recommend ordering a half portion for 2 or a full for 4. Order this, and please do not forget to order the rest of the menu. Having returned to this place, we kept ordering different items off the menu and were not disappointed. Service was always on point and friendly, accommodating those who speak broken Spanish. Being attached to the market and always busy and bustling, go early in the day and treat it as a wonderful breakfast. Do not miss out on the ratatouille made with their local sweet peppers. It was to die for!

We enjoyed a few tapas at the counter. The tortilla espanola with onions was our favorite bite; our son inhaled it. (Check out Somebody Feed Phil, season 5, Madrid.) We also enjoyed the croquettes, bacalao a la plancha con pisto manchego which was delicious and rustic, tinto de verano and finished with the natillas dessert. All in all, a good night for tapas. It was busy, so we didn't linger. I do want to try their menu of the day and their breakfast sometime!

Located in the Mercado de la Paz, Casa Dani liked to advertise themselves as serving the best tortilla (Spanish omelette) in Spain. I haven't been to all of Spain, but of the tortillas I've had in and outside of Spain, it's thus far my favorite. Coffee and the freshly squeezed OJ were also good. Service was prompt and efficient. Restaurant is small and busy.

One of our best meal in Madrid. Tucked inside Meecado de la Paz, they serve authentic Spanish food that's worth a trip. They are known for their tortilla de patatas and it was by far the best we've had compared to the ones we tried around the city. The eggs were creamy, velvety and runny, flavorful as it was paired with carmalized onions. It does get filling so we ordered half portion - which I like that you have the option to choose between full, half, or small portion. We also tried their grilled asparagus which was perfection charred and seasoned. Their grilled squid was nice but nothing that stands out. Other than their tortilla de patatas, another highlight of our meal was I preordered carabinerios. I may not be in season since they are smaller in size as expected but they were all perfectly grilled and seasoned, they were rich and juicy. My kids can't stop eating them and it was worth every penny. Service was good and quick. It's more of a fast paced restaurant so it's in and out but we never felt rushed. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back if we are in Madrid again.

Located in a posh neighborhood of Madrid, Casa Dani is not at all pretentious. It's located in one of the city's oldest markets, Mercado de la Paz, and its tiny bar area is popular with locals & tourists. Casa Dani is known for their award-winning tortilla (Spanish omelette), considered to be the best in Madrid. They make it the way a Spanish grandmother would, with lots of love and a healthy dose of olive oil. A typical one has onions and potatoes. It was unique and absolutely delicious. I loved every bite. I got a set combo that came along with a coffee (choice of Leche or Americano). The coffee is too strong for me but I can tell the quality is legit. I highly recommend.

Don't sleep on Casa Dani. It really is the best tortilla! I know they have other menu items, but I was here by myself specifically to try the tortilla, and I was able to get a small piece of both the plain and the version with onions. OMG it is truly the most perfect texture, still soft and creamy inside and firm on the outside. They were both fantastic, nicely seasoned inside and out, but the one with onions really stole the show for me because it just added a whole other dimension of flavor. The servers were extremely kind and patient. I'm always not sure how they will receive American tourists (we don't always have the best reputation) but they were so nice and one of them even said he loved the Boston Celtics (I said I was from near Boston), haha. I was lucky when I arrived because although it was fairly busy, there was no line, and there were still a few tables up for grabs, but by the time I left it got busier and busier.

If you're in Madrid and craving the ultimate Spanish tortilla experience, Casa Dani is a must. Tucked inside Mercado de la Paz, this unassuming spot delivers some of the creamiest, most perfectly runny tortilla de patatas you'll find anywhere in Spain -- seriously, it melts in your mouth. We tried two versions: one with caramelized onions that added a rich, sweet contrast, and one classic. Both were perfection. And then came the Txuletón steak -- sliced tableside, beautifully charred, and paired with fries and padrón peppers. Juicy, tender, and seasoned just right with flaky sea salt. A true Basque-style treat. Friendly service, no-frills ambiance, and quality that speaks for itself. Get there early -- there's always a line, and it's totally worth it. Mercado de la Paz, Madrid Must-try: Tortilla with onions, Txuletón steak Tip: Order the tortilla slightly runny (poco cuajada) -- it's how locals love it. #CasaDani #MadridEats #TortillaDePatatas #Txuleton #FoodieMadrid #LocalGem #SpanishFood #NotATouristTrap

4.5 and rounding up. Located within the market building that is Mercado de La Paz, Casa Dani has a couple different areas--entering from the market entrance on Calle de Ayala, walk toward the back right of the building. Here they have a smallish indoor space with counter service and about a dozen odd seated tables. There's also what looks like a take out counter next to this along the right wall. Heading out of the market from the exit/entrance toward Calle de Lagasca, they have another small indoor section and larger outdoor setup. I only ate one thing here since it was 10:30am and it was a slice of their delicious tortilla, perfect consistency for a soft omelette, lotsa caramelized onions added a sweet touch. Arguably too big for one person to consume alone, I felt quite stuffed and experienced a bit of caramelized onion overload. The tortilla came with a small hunk of baguette, which was nothing to write home about though good to use for sopping up some of the tortilla juices. My espresso was good. Sitting at the counter, the staff spoke Spanish though I had no problem communicating knowing exactly what I wanted. A lot of locals and Spanish tourists alike on a Monday morning. Very reasonable prices, and they take both cash and card. Coming back next time to try some other items!

Food: The flavor of this tortilla was probably the best I've had as the caramelized onions truly brought the flavor out. Ate here twice because it was that good! However, the bread that came with it wasn't as amazing as other places. I would have enjoyed the tortilla better if it came with pan con tomate (bread with tomato), which is how it's typically brought to you at other places. Service: Can be a bit slow due to the crowd. Not the most attentive staff. Ambiance: Place is very popular among locals and tourists so expect to wait as I don't think you can make a reservation. Line moves quickly and there's actually two locations in the Mercado, which helps to accommodate more people. Both indoor and outdoor seating available, depending on which location you go to in the Mercado.
