The hotel itself had a very friendly staff, who were more than happy to help out with any questions we had (and we def had a few with it being our first time in Lisbon). They also spoke English, which was helpful for us. The room was a good size and was incredibly clean and well decorated. The room and the hotel had a funky "theatrical" type of them, apparently inspired by a nearby hotel which we enjoyed. The beds were also very comfortable, which is nice to have after a long day of exploring the city.

Realizing my error I called and no one answered. I then sent an e-mail. I was notified that the reservation was non refundable even though I provided 7 days notice. If this is their approach to doing business, I want no part in it. They effectively stole $147 euro from me and I will never do business with a company that treats customers this way.

From their taste of traditional decor, idealic location and a friendly well informed staff; they covered all bases. John and his mutilingual team catered to our needs with kindness, a beguilded calm and genuine guest orientation. Delight in their complimentary teas, organic fruits and wide array of traditional port wines from their 'honesty -bar'. The assortment of offerings during breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay. The only drawback to our otherwise wonderful stay was the sound of footsteps of guests in the rooms above us given the pristine wooden flooring. Hats off to Casa Amora. Anna is a woman that owns the house and works there with here daughter and her granddaughter lives there too! Breakfast is amazing with fresh fruit and yoghurt, cereals, etc. They have wifi and you have to take a car, taxi or bike to get to the beach but it is definitely worth it to stay here!

We stayed in the apartment (attached to the house) and also shared Stuart and Carole's lovely garden for a relax with a glass of wine or two in the evenings before heading out for dinner... Breakfast is provided in the apartment (bread, eggs, cereals, milk etc.) so you can make whatever breakfast you desire when you are up and about... we loved this approach and wish more hosts would do this (great idea Carole!) :-) We absolutely loved it here and would place it at the top of our list of "excellent finds for places to stay on our travels"... if you are in Sintra, don't hesitate to make a booking here and stay - you will not regret it... :-)
