Back again after a long hiatus! Love Muriale's ever since my first visit as a 20 something!…read moreStopped by on a drive from Pittsburgh with my sister on our way back to Charlotte and Greenville, SC. I talked into the meatball hoagie with a house salad with the house dressing. Can't wait to eat.... The house salad and Italian bread with soft butter were outstanding. By the number of ingredients, that salad was made with a lot of love. Waiting on the meatball hoagie.... The mixed peppers on the meatball with a large mound of melted mozzarella cheese. The sandwich was large enough that it was a struggle to get my mouth around it to take a bite and that's a good thing! The meatballs and red sauce were as good as ever. My sister had never been to Muriale's so she became an instant fan. After 8 years away this meal was great. Don't ever change and keep it classy. Thank you!

As we're temporarily home bound, a friend brought us delicious takeout from Muriale's. We shared two somewhat-similar and tasty entrees, (1) Eggplant Parmesan ($21) featuring lightly breaded and fried eggplant, fresh mozzarella, ricotta, house-made marinara sauce and (2) Veal Parmesan ($24), with lighted breaded and fried veal, fresh mozzarella, and house-made meat sauce. Both entrees were served with a side of spaghetti and tomato-based sauce, house salad, and garlic toast. Note that the house salad was excellent, consisting of fresh greens, onions, cheese, olives, tomatoes, pepperoni, and roasted red peppers. We chose the balsamic vinaigrette as our dressing. (Side salads in the Fairmont/Clarksburg area are often only iceberg lettuce and a shaving or two of carrots). Our initial thought was that the prices were a bit on the higher side. However, in seeing the high quality of the food, the generous portions, and the "extras" that were included (salad, garlic toast, etc.), we feel that it was a good value.

Mia Margherita - Spaghetti with two meatballs

The host told us the wait would be about 30 to 40 minutes, but there happened to be two open seats at the bar, so we agreed to sit there instead. The restaurant is not very large inside, so I can understand why there was a wait. We sat at the end of the bar. The seats weren't originally side by side but they moved one chair so we could sit together and it worked out fine. The sign says they're a coal fired pizzeria, and their menu definitely reflects that. They offer a lot more than your standard pepperoni or sausage pizza. There were several artisan options and honestly it was hard to choose. For an appetizer we ordered the Chips & Gorgonzola. My friend asked what Gorgonzola was, and although I knew it was cheese, I completely forgot how similar it is to blue cheese, which she doesn't usually like. This ended up being a pleasant surprise because the Gorgonzola aioli had more of a tart bite than typical blue cheese, and she actually enjoyed it. When it came to the pizza, I knew I wanted something different from the usual topping combinations. I narrowed it down to three: Il Fico (the fig pizza), the Bacon, Grape & Gorgonzola. I asked the bartender what he recommended, and he suggested the Bacon, Grape & Gorgonzola. I mentioned I was torn between that and the fig pizza. He hadn't tried the fig one, so he couldn't compare, but he said he really liked the bacon and grape. I didn't even think about the fact that I'd already had Gorgonzola in my appetizer, but I went with it anyway. I have to say, it was an interesting combination in a good way. The Gorgonzola balanced out the sweetness of the grapes, and the pizza was cooked well with good flavor. It's probably not something I'd order every visit, but I'm glad I tried it once. My friend ordered the chicken parmesan and seemed happy with hers too. For dessert, we ordered the petit fours sampler. They came as little cakes set on cupcake wrappers with a raspberry glaze drizzled across the plate. Beautiful presentation. The cakes were soft and moist but incredibly sweet. We ended up dragging them through the raspberry glaze to add some tartness, which helped a lot. Without the glaze, I think they would have been too sweet to finish. Overall, we had a really good experience. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and genuinely tried to make sure we enjoyed our meal. I would definitely stop by again the next time I'm in town.

He also had solid dinner recommendations and was super nice and welcoming to our family (including 2 kids under 5). Job well done. Of course, great service means nothing if the food doesn't back it up, and thankfully it did. I really enjoyed my steak pasta; my wife enjoyed her soup, and the kids ate their chicken tenders (for what that's worth). My 5 year old didn't love her kids mac & cheese (was penne pasta) but I did enough to eat half there and bring the rest home as leftovers. Awesome dinner. Thank you again Daniel!

I really enjoy that the pasta is fresh and the menu isn't 40 pages long. It's straight to the point and you know what you're getting based on what is listed under the pasta shape. My short rib ricotta gnocchi was good but I do wish it had a bit more salt to bring more of the flavor to the front. The gnocchi texture was perfect and pillowy. The short rib mixed in nicely with all of the pasta and the sauce. My spouse enjoyed the cannelloni, which was pretty much their lasagna but also wanted a bit more salt. Our server was very nice and walked us through the menu options as well as told us about the seafood special for the night. The bread came out first and was delicious. The salad was also good and I don't usually like arugula. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and I enjoy that they take the time to do that. The space is very cute and you can't really miss it even with it being in an executive building. It's a smaller area but it can seat a good amount of people. We noticed they had a pasta making class so maybe next time we're in town, we can do it. The red sangria had a great balance where it wasn't too sweet. We didn't do dessert but we did enjoy the digestif at the end with limoncello and my spouse ate the amaretti cookies as I couldn't.

The pasta shapes are unlike anything else you'll find in Western PA. They even offer complimentary limoncello and Amaretti cookies to end your meal, which is a really nice touch. They have family style options for groups who want to try a variety of dishes, but the menu is just as fitting for a date night. Bonus: the leftovers taste just as good the next day! The space can get a bit loud with high ceilings and a full house, but the lively energy reflects how much people are enjoying the experience. Service was friendly and helpful with suggestions. The owner even stopped by tables to check on guests. It's tucked inside an industrial park and may be a little tricky to find if you're unfamiliar with the area, but GPS and signage get you there without much trouble. Definitely worth the visit!

We ordered the Chicken Parmigiana and Chicken Romano with wedding soups instead of salads and sides of angel hair pasta. We also ordered the spaghetti with hot sausage. All meals came with Italian bread and butter. Servings are very large and could feed two people with small/regular appetites. The Chicken Parmigiana and the spaghetti with hot sausage were very good with flavorful red sauce. The Chicken Romano was bland. It should have had lemon taste. I think I read that in another review too. We picked up our order around 4 pm, and the restaurant was starting to get busy. I really like their Italian market in the reception area. We didn't get them until after we'd finished eating a while ago. That's hit a bit late. That's late enough that we would have canceled them. The ambiance is still good and the food was delicious. The wedding soup wasn't very good. Not nearly as good as I remembered. Too much chicken too. Wish I hadn't placed an order for some to go before eating it. The manicotti was good. The veal parm gave both the people who got it good poisoning. So they had miserable days/nights for more than 24 hours. Definitely not going back any time soon.
