Jonesin' Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas? You'll hit the spot at this joint. Ambience is, and has always been lacking in the ratty little bar area. Small and dark, with a low ceiling and an incredibly loud cooler fan makes customers feel as if they're in some bomb shelter listening to enemy aircraft overhead. I was actually looking forward to leaving rather than having another Modelo on tap. Service was fast and friendly. I sympathized as they couldn't escape as easily as me.

This place sucks. Terrible service and they messed up everything. They were watching us through the cameras and came to yell at us. The food was at best terrible. Very rude service and it took way too long. Had to wait more than an hour and a half for food. Terrible ambiance felt like the backrooms by the way. Food was freezing cold and tasted like rocks. They belittled my dad and didn't even say sorry

Overall, I would not recommended nor would I go back! The food was not very good. The service was okay, but not the best. They have a serve your own chips and salsa, which is so strange for a mexican restaurant. So anytime you run out, you have to go get your own. We got the skillet queso, which was probably the best thing we ate. I got the red chile enchiladas which I was only able to take one bite of. My boyfriend got the steak and chicken fajitas - they were edible, but not the best. The restaurant itself on the inside had a strange smell and was not very nice.

Hatch Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas

The food and service were amazing. I had the Hatch green chile chicken enchiladas. The flavor was so much more than I was hoping for. If you like hatch green chile, this is the best place to go. I will definitely be back!

We have been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years... It's always pretty good, but it can also be hit or miss. If you want to make sure that you always have some thing that is pretty tasty, start your meal with the green chili appetizer. They are amazing! Also, the chips and salsa that they bring out is wonderful! As for entrées, you can't go wrong with the Chile rellenos or enchiladas. I will say though... The tacos were a total let down . I eat tacos everywhere, and I finally decided that I would branch outside of my norm and try some soft, corn tortilla tacos... Because really, these are my absolute favorite at true Mexican restaurants... The sad part... The supposed "soft, corn tortillas" were obviously put on the flat top and fried with some oil... Not only were they semi-crispy, but they were unbelievably greasy! Probably will never try those again.

Very busy place! Waited for a little bit to get a table. Waitress Joanna was very nice. She brought water and chips with salsa to the table and took our order. Salsa tasted like Pace out of the bottle. Food came out in decent amount of time. I ordered the green chili chicken enchiladas. All I can say is it wasn't hatch green chili. Which saddens me. Chicken had no flavor. Green chilies had minimal flavor. Wife had stuffed sopa. Meat was flavorless and the sopa was thick. Will we go back? No.

5 stars all the way. Everything is good and waitstaff is super nice. Lunch specials are great prices. Hatch enchiladas are a must. Easy to find plenty of parking. You won't be disappointed.

To a person we were thrilled with our meals. Big portions and big flavors. The chicken fried chicken was plate size with a side of green chile battered and deep fried, like a chile relleno sans cheese. Delicious! Our server kept up with the calamity that was our table and I couldn't believe she did it with such grace. Great job. I added a salad bar trip to the CfriedC and it included dessert. Many options on the salad bar and everything was fresh and stocked full. Everyone enjoyed their meal and a couple left with to go boxes. One thing that I would change was the volume of the live music. Good song choices and singing but it was so loud we could not comfortably talk to each other during the meal. We'd all go back and may this trip. Enjoy!

But lo and behold, k-bobs has a salad wagon. It is every bit what you want and a few extras, roasted green chilies and a great green chile corn chowder. I opted for the rellenos with steak strips, they were not traditional rellenos but still great the meat was satisfying and the chile spicey. They were on rice pilaf, it worked and thier beans are flavorful and satisfying. They have home made rolls i think are better than rodehouse!! All in all it was a win, great iced tea friendly service and a satisfying meal. I will gladly come back!!

They had an enchiladas special so we (the adults) went with that and the kid got the quesadillas kids menu option with no beans and a side of veggies. Food was okay for the most part. The staff was incredibly friendly, and even though it was busy on our first visit, we were seated quickly. My husband loved the shrimp cocktail, and I ordered the New Mexico Omelette both times because it was that good! The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable, especially compared to Texas. The only thing I wish they had was a spicy green chile salsa since New Mexico is famous for its green chile. The red salsa was good but not spicy. My oldest also thought the chorizo burrito was a little too greasy, but everything else was delicious. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Ruidoso!

Extremely Disappointing Experience…read more My husband and I had dinner at Michael J's on Saturday, September 26th, while spending the weekend in Ruidoso. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a nice dinner turned into one of the most uncomfortable restaurant experiences we've ever had. We arrived around 8:00 PM, an hour before closing, and stood at the entrance for about five minutes waiting to be seated, even though the restaurant was practically empty. I ordered a bottle of Alamos Cabernet listed for $36. Our server, who was also the bartender, came back and told me they were out of it. I then specifically asked for the house Cabernet listed for $28. She brought us a bottle, and we assumed it was what I had ordered. Throughout dinner, her demeanor toward us was noticeably short and unfriendly. Then, at approximately 8:40 PM--20 minutes before closing--they TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF while we were still eating. I asked if they could please turn them back on, and they did. About two minutes later, they turned them off again. We literally had to use the lights on our phones to see and finish our dinner. I have never experienced anything like that at a restaurant. When our bill arrived, we discovered we had been charged $46 for a bottle of Silver Palm, which I NEVER ordered. When I questioned our server, she told me they had been out of the house wine. I explained that she should have come back to the table, told me it was unavailable, and allowed me to choose another bottle--especially before substituting one that cost significantly more. Her response was essentially, Too bad, you drank it." We asked to speak with a manager and were told that everyone had already left. If a restaurant chooses to seat customers an hour before closing, those customers should be allowed to finish their meal with the lights on and without being made to feel like an inconvenience. And if something a customer orders is unavailable, you do not substitute a more expensive item without telling them, charge them for it, and then dismiss their concern because they already consumed it. And somehow, we still left a $10 tip. I honestly cannot remember ever leaving less than 20% at a restaurant. Even when service isn't perfect, I believe in tipping well, but this experience was completely different. I have the receipt from that evening and am posting it with this review. We came to Ruidoso for a nice weekend together and were looking forward to dinner here. Unfortunately, this experience left us feeling extremely unwelcome and disappointed. We will not return.
