While it's a bit of a distance to the actual venue, it was well worth it for the quiet, calm and very relaxing environment. Beautiful property and I wish I had time to use the pool outside. We stayed in the Bella Vista honeymoon suite. I loved it. It allowed my husband and I to talk. There's a calming and clarifying vibe to the room and the place in general. Spacious, clean, and comfortable. I would stay here again if I was in the area 100%. I think about this place from time to time. I actually miss it!

We checked in after 6pm, so check in instructions were texted to us. Easy to follow. Was easy to find. We stopped at Wally's Pizza for dinner in Cameron Park based off their restaurant suggestions on their website and sent via text check in instructions. Great suggestion! The next mornings breakfast is texted the night before, offering some options like juice preference. And it's delivered around 9am the next morning. Since we had to be at rafting at 9 our first morning at the Inn, they delivered us fruit, scones, and juice early at 8:15am which was really nice. Breakfast was delicious, both mornings. And super fresh. We stayed in the Cypress room. Was as pictured online. Room was clean. The patio area is nice. We explored the grounds a bit our last morning and saw many places to sit around. We enjoyed some time up at the pond in the morning. The staff - I assume owners - were very friendly. We were very happy with our stay here and would return!

There's also a fire pit that's gorgeous at night, and plenty of bird feeders. If you enjoy birdwatching, this is the place as there are a variety of different feathered visitors that come by this naturally beautiful retreat. The photos and room description was different depending on what site you looked at. There is a steep staircase to get up to the upper rooms so if stairs are an issue, book one of the downstairs rooms We had the Stafford suite and it was amazing. Nicely decorated and again, that bed was so so comfy. If you are under 5'8" you may need a step stool to get in the bed! It can be noisy with the freeway and train nearby but we weren't bothered by it. There is a huge fountain outside the window that helps. This would be a great place for a small wedding or family reunion... the whole place is inviting and cozy. I am sure the grounds are gorgeous in the spring! They do not offer breakfast so we brought some muffins and fruit and enjoyed our coffee in the parlor... you do have full use of the kitchen so If you want to cook, you can. The owners are very prompt to reply if you have questions and check in was a breeze! We will most definitely be back!

And yes, you will be reminded at every communication that you need to read them. Including a text the day before you check in. If you ask any questions, they'll send it to you like you've seen in other Yelper's reviews. Unlike hotels or AirBnBs, be aware that the rate is for just 2 people. They will charge $50 more per person. We had a little one with us and we were charged $50 more per night. (And yes, they will meet you at check-in to make sure you don't bring extra people!) Our cottage had a queen bed and a sofa bed. Presumably with the extra charge, we would have been given enough towels and linen for 3. Nope. There were towels for 2. And the sofa bed was a bare mattress with a throw without a sheet. We didn't complain since we brought our own linen. Despite being charged a cleaning fee of $50, know that you will still need to haul all of your trash to a trash bin 50 - 100 feet of your cottage. As other Yelpers have mentioned, the place is tired and old: filthy floors, dusty baseboards, tight shower knobs, weak AC, broken porch light... The deck didn't have the nice furniture that was in the photos. Yes, it's river front but getting down to the river is treacherous with many jagged rocks and makeshift steps - exercise caution with kids and elderly. There are no banks, just jagged rocks. We were here in April and it is very, very buggy - lots of mosquitoes and big flying bugs were found in the house every night. Just one screen door. No screens on any of the windows or front door. Beware - they are sticklers with checking out. We left the cottage on time but decided to take a few last minute photos near the river. After paying $2000 for 2 cottages for 3 nights, we were charged - after Danika / Sherry gave us a discount - an additional $25 for not having left the premises on time! We would not recommend this place and certainly will not be visiting again.

This is my 3rd time here and they have the best Kung Pao Chicken I have ever had. We had a large party of 14, and everything was so good and the service and hospitality of the staff was even better. I myself was not fond of the Kung Pao Shrimp - but others in our party enjoyed it. We ordered many different dishes and the service was top tier. We truly enjoyed our experience at Red Lantern within Thunder Valley. We came back for drinks & some game play after our team building event. We had great interactions with bar tenders & floor staff. Drinks at the bar were very reasonably priced. We also enjoyed our gaming experience - some of us opted for slots where others played table games. We spent a few hours here in the evening. Thunder Valley has multiple other eateries, food court, concert venue (which is great - as I have been in the past), hotel and Bingo Hall.

I've been to a few shows here and like the easy layout once you get inside; merch, drinks and restrooms are all in close proximity once you walk into the lobby. I like that they have parking directly in front of The Venue as well, so you don't have to hassle with the parking garage (although the actual doors to the concert all are locked so you have to walk out of your way through the main entrance of the casino to walk to your car, so it's a little ways).

Our suite (one of five) was absolutely stunning. The Innkeeper (the first of three amazing Innkeepers) had the gas fireplace lit, and wonderful instrumental music playing, as she showed us our suite. The food was phenomenal: gourmet breakfasts, 5:00 wine and cheese, and homemade cookies in the evening. My favorite part was the patio with a fire pit overlooking the vineyard. It is difficult to find such peace and serenity anywhere. Aah... We anticipate return visits

The meals were uber fresh (filling enough that we skipped lunch both days!). Every day around 5 you're treated to wine and cheese. Perfect location to wine taste on property or venture out to the growing number of top rated wineries. Walk amongst the vineyards or take out one the beach cruisers or trikes for a ride around. At night, the fire pits are a nice touch, or just lounge on you private deck for a sunset and a moonset. Looking forward to our return!

The new owner Dan has faced many hurtles in acquiring this business. I took the time to sit down with him and discuss my negative review I made. Dan is an incredibly nice guy that has worked very hard at getting this business going well and successful. He explained many things to me about taking over this business and I am happy to say that the future is bright for this quaint mountain bar and grill, as well as the store and gas pumps. The thing I like the most is the people that work here! They are locals that have been working here for years. They are quick to smile and help you with anything! The "Taco Tuesday's" are amazing! You will not find a better taco plate! Anyway, I have made the effort to check on their progress since the ownership change, and I would like to report a wonderful change and a friendly place to have a drink, gas up, refill your camping supplies, or get some great fishing advice as well as bait and supplies! Dan, great job sir! You have my utmost respect and friendship sir! You must stop in here! Truly a diamond in the rough!

The back patio grass area has been replanted, nee stage for bands, horse shoe area, fire place. We had a high school graduation party in the patio area....amazing. The resort BBQ'ed cheeseburgers and fried fries-up...delicious. We set up a award table and candy table. The graduate said everything was perfect. Nikki was very sweet on the phone and my family was very excited about our 5 day stay on the American River. When we arrived the first thing we noticed was the river is about a 100 yards downhill from the cottage. I was a little dissappointed about that. The next thing that we noticed was that the cemetary is about 6 feet from the master bedroom window... we knew about the cemetary, but didn't realize that this was the view from the master bedroom. One thing that I didn't take note of, was the fact that there is no T.V. upstairs or internet access. While there is a T.V. downstairs, it just plays vcr and dvd's. The downstairs is also almost impossible to heat without getting the upstairs too hot. The t.v. room does have a small stove type electric heater, but it doesn't heat the lower bedroom at all. My daughter and grandson had to sleep on the futon so they would not freeze all night. My guess is that the downstairs will stay nice and cool in the summer months. Now the best part... there is a rooster right below the master bedroom and it starts to crow way before sunrise. Usually it starts up at 5:00 a.m. and crows until 7:00 a.m., this was very disturbing and we all hated it. The chickens are cute, but the rooster should be moved from this relaxing vacation rental. The property is very pretty and the river is also very pretty. We were told about the bakery/coffee shop down the road, but when we got there, it had a sign "closed until January 4th". This cabin would be great if all you want to do is read books and relax in the winter months. I would probably be back in the summer when there is actually something to do.

It is very well maintained, and is comfortable, with everything you will need to relax. The cottage is very clean and Nikki is a great hostess. The kitchen is fully stocked with all appliances and dishes you will need, and there are plenty of extra blankets to keep you comfortable. Outside, the kids had great fun roaming the property and playing by the river. They also enjoyed the chickens and duck, which Nikki even let them feed. This is a beautiful place to relax and have some quiet family time without the noise of the city. I greatly enjoy that there is only a TV downstairs, because we wanted a quiet environment, free of electronics when we vacation. I highly recommend this cottage, and we plan to return at least annually!
