It's a family tradition of mine to get the Carvel birthday ice cream cake every year for our bdays, this time I wanted to get it slightly customized. I went in-person to this shop and spoke to an older gentleman who noted down my custom cake order and made sure to provide very specific descriptions. We even provided the cake maker a photo reference of how I wanted the lettering format to make sure it was crystal clear and he said it was very easy and simple. For reference, I asked for a white heart shaped cake with white trim and black lettering (I requested the lettering to be in cursive and it was on the written order ticket). Unfortunately they did not deliver and the letters where in regular format, so it ruined the whole look of the cake. The lady that was attending in the front was not very helpful and didn't try to find a resolution either. I was very excited and felt the order was simple enough but expectations fell short. Not sure if I would recommend custom cake orders from here based on this experience. read more

I went there with a coupon for that specific location. It was a buy one get one for a simple soft served ice cream sundae. I was met by an elderly man and he didn't listen to me when I said I had a coupon and without missing a beat very annoyed asked me "do you know what day it is?" --"Sunday" and he then re-directed my attention to a sign behind me and said "there's no specials on Sunday" When I presented it to the worker he was very reluctant to accept it and frankly seemed annoyed with our whole interaction which at this point so was I. When it came time to pay though he said he would accept the coupon he charged me full price. We made an order through Uber Eats and received it not only extremely late but with missing items as well. We eventually hung up and called back, they were extremely rude and just insisted on "providing a refund" within days instead of making the order right. I wanted to order a cake for my boyfriends birthday with his favourite anime character on it but had never ordered with Carvel before. I called the store ahead of time to ask questions about dimensions and requirements for the photo because i wanted it to cover the whole cake and didn't want to mess up. The guy who answered was very short, didnt answer any questions and rudely said "well, how big is the picture you have lady". I hung up and e-mailed over the picture and picked up the cake today and i'm SUPER disappointed that i started crying at the store. The picture does not cover the whole cake like i asked, it's super small, it's crooked, not centered and the border lines should be red, not orange. It didn't even look like they took the time to read my message or have any care when they printed the picture. Even the frosting layer on top has bubbles that are starting to form on the top of the cake. I was upset and the people working pretty much said there was nothing that could be done because it was already paid for and there was no time to make another. SO UPSET. This tiny little carvel location is tucked right behind the McDonalds and has been there for as long as we've been in Florida, about 15 yrs. it seems to be family owned because I always see the same two gentlemen. They're very polite, quick and friendly. Almost every time we visit they let us try a bunch of flavors. Two days ago the younger gentleman recommended the Nutella chocolate... needless to say it was so yummy we went back yesterday and tried the soft serve version. If you work at a company one should know how to use a gift card from such company. I was questioned as to when i purchased my gift card, where i purchased it from almost as if i was being interrogated. It took two individuals to figure out how to NOT use it as a form of payment. I then used my debit card to pay and the gentleman said to his coworker "let's see if this one works". I beg your pardon? just because you lack the ability to use your systems does not make me some sort of valueless customer.
